  1. Second, I don't know too many husbands - foreign or domestic, who would be okay with it.

I have to disagree with that. At least among my peers that has always been common and acceptable. Mixed gender friendships are not unusual and they can remain completely platonic.

I disagree also. I have many male friends that I spend time with, with and without my husband, and he has female friends. It has never bothered either of us.

That's cool that your husband is like that. But last night for the sake of verifying my thoughts on the subject, I surveyed 5 husbands and asked if their wife got shifazzed aka sloppy drunk with two male neighbor friends alone would they be cool with that? Four were American, one was Argentine (my husband). Of the five, three said no - that it just didn't seem right, my husband said he would have a fit, and the final one said, yeah, I'd be ok with it but honestly "that sounds like the opening line to a story in Penthouse!" I all but fell out of my chair. :o:lol:

I would not only walk away, I would run fast and far, far away from her if she spent time with male "friends" with out me...drinking or not. I think if she decided to start drinking I could overlook that...but hanging out with guys...no way! I know very few who would tolerate that. She wants to go out with co-workers for lunch (who happen to be male) fine. But to go out without me with a bunch of guys (or even 1)...our marriage wouldn't survive cause I would be serving 10-20. ;) Seriously a definite no-no there. I think you'd be surprised as to how many spouses (both MENA or not) say they are ok with it until the other comes strolling in at 3 in the morning from a night out with those of an opposite gender.

For those who spoke of the pork-alcohol comparision. Many of the muslims I know drink but put a pepperoni pizza in front of them and all bets are off. What hipocracy! To each their own.

  3. One of the questions she asked me when we first met was if I drink or if I ever had. All people in Jordan hear about is how Arab Americans go crazy when the get here or if they are raised here how wild they are (booze, drugs, and s3x). R and I won't allow alcohol to be brought into our home. I have on very rare occasions let my friends bring it over if they come over to my place...but in my parents home they respect their religious beliefs enough they can come over for dinner and not bring it. When R gets here we won't allow it in our home either. Of course we won't mind other drinking in our presence if it's at their house or when we go out. I am definitely glad we talked about it and discussed it so there are no surprises.

  4. Hi Everyone!

It's my birthday today! Yay! My wife woke me up with a phone call this morning. I was so tired...and she's like who were you out with last night! :diablo: Busted. I did have a softball game then we just hung out and talked until the wee hours as it was our last game this year. Then her family members called me throughout the morning. How nice of them!

Nothing received at NVC yet. I am getting worried. Prayers are being accepted they receive it soon. TIA.

    Happy Tuesday all.

  8. NVC does not schedule for Amman's interviews -- at least that what they told me when I called a couple times. Perhaps it's different for the K3/CR1 filers.

I plan to shoot an email to the Embassy as soon after I receive an text notification that it arrived at the Embassy (I signed up for the service after finding what I *think* is our package on the DHL website).

Does anyone know of any tips for his interview. Like how he should conduct his answers? I told him it's a good idea to prepare as if for a huge job interview for the one he really wants, and to try to demonstrate evidence as he answers. IE: "What does your family think of your SO?" he could respond "Oh they think she's *great, good, ...* as you can see from our visit *shows pictures with the family, etc*..."

He actually said, "So I don't give them everything at once?" Oh, no no no.... it's better to be in control and determined. "Oh, ok, so not like what I did when tried for the tourist visa?" (which he was denied for) lol, no.

I remembered seeing some witty answers to interview questions recently... the subject was on whether petitioner/beneficiary knew of the other's previous relationships/marriages.... I've been going a lil bit loony looking for it again, does anyone know what I'm referring to?

    Good luck everyone!

Definitely NOT for K1. Did you submit any of the forms 156, 157 to the NVC?

Also, is the purpose of the emal to embassy regarding the package? I would do it now before it get there. They have not responded to my email from this past Sunday...so they might not even see it before they mail out the package. And they will not make another until after 30 days have passed and you have not received it. So do you know if the interview date is assigned in the package or when you RETURN all the stuff (134, medical, etc.).

Umm...regarding the answers above. I would just answer the questions...breif and to the point. Others have suggested putting your favorite picture of you two on top of the pile of evidence. Tell him not the put the evidence on the floor but on the ledge of the counter in front the glass so the officer can see ALL that he brought and is prepared to present for proof.

  9. Just question to through out there....at mosques men and women pray separately....or at least men in front of the women. In Mecca, they pray side by side. I know there are millions there and it would be difficult to separate them. Anyone have any thoughts?

  10. I give him credit though. Each week he's pounded the pavement in Boston and the surrounding communities in his hot black suit in the 90 degree humid weather facing rejection about 20 times/week, you know? He hasn't gotten too down and when he does get a little down I just give him a pep talk. Good luck!!!

I've got mad respect for him. If I lived close I would hire him just for having that great of an attitude!! Best of luck to him!!
