  1. Hi guys, hope every one is ok.

We are settling in here, son is going to school for the second week now, first time school bus. All new things are exiting and a bit scary, but he is doing great.

This week we are going to try to get my SSN, from what I understand that should be ok now.

We do have some kind of insurance now, but I am not too happy about it, but with the SSN done at least Jack can add me to his.

Unfortunately Dennis won't get his until we did AOS, at least, that is how I understand it.

Good luck Ri, it should be easy today.

Have a nice day in A'dam.

We had to go by train and so no time to walk around in A'dam. Would have loved to though.

    Petra

  2. So...I have been SOOOO busy having a blast here in rainy Holland that I haven't had a chance to check in! We were approved the same day Pat was. In fact, we all met up together and had coffee/tea afterwards.

The officer at the consulate said it was a good thing that I came in with John because more than anything else, that proves our relationship. Here's the funny thing. He asked several questions...where do I live, what do I do, do I have kids, how did we meet...but ONLY asked me...not John. LMAO. I let John answer the question about how we met because I felt it only fair he answer SOMETHING! Then the guy asked John if he played guitar (after looking at his fingerprints) and they talked about that awhile and then asked us about Harleys. OMG...what a funny interview. Anyway...we have basically been celebrating ever since. Hoping that his visa comes in the mail today. I am coming home the first week of Sept, and will really miss Holland and John until he gets here. He still has his house to get sold and stuff to transport...soon I hope.

Liz...btw...Patrick was VERY nervous! LOL...we even commented on it to him. But the look of total relief was apparent after he was approved.

    Doeg!!!

    -Blu-

LOL, Blu, that sounds like the kind of interview we had.

Very relaxed and most answers towards the American partner.

Hmm, Harleys, guitars and in our case beer? We must have had the same guy.

    Anyway, congrats to you both.

An hour ago we had to decide not to fly tomorrow, it looks like the temperatures are so close to the no flying temps for animals that we couldn't risk it.

All in all we didn't feel it was good to leave the dogs behind for another month, so Jack called United to try to book for Monday.

My rent is payed up to the 2nd, so we can stay another day.

Nothing left in the house, but we'll just walk the dogs an awful lot and the tv and pc is still here.

Monday should be well into the flying temps for the dogs, a huge drop in temps.

    Talk about anti climax

  3. Peet - thank you! Pat didn't remember them saying anything about that envelope..hehe! I'll let him know. And he's flying KLM....I'll mention the temperature thing so he can ask. If that's the case, he might not be able to bring the cat after all since it won't be below 85F here for several more months!

Just checked with KLM, but he will be fine.

They have a special compartment in which animals can fly. So they don't need to think about temperatures.

Oh wow, thanks for letting me know!! Which airline are you flying with?

    United

    We'll see how that goes.

  5. All depends on the temperature that day, below 85 they will take them, 85 or higher they won't and I will have to leave them behind until someone can bring them over for me.

Oh wow! I didn't know they had that stipulation! Pat is bringing his cat but they didnt tell him anything about it having to be at a certain temperature! I hope it all works out ok for you!!

    Thanks Anna!! :star:

His cat probably will go with him in the cabin?

There the heat restriction doesn't count.

No, he will be put in the cargo area with the luggage.

Peet - Question for you....when did you get the big sealed brown envelope that your supposed to not open and give to the people at the POE?

They send it with your visa :D

    What airline does he use?

The 85 degrees line is used by most airlines

  7. Hey guys, I got my package 3 last thursday, but I had a small question. Appearently I have to send in a police record??? Where can I get this? I'm not sure what it's about.... any help is appreciated ^^

Hi Denise! Actually you don't have to do anything for the police record. In Holland the Consulate has to request that, you can't do it yourself.

Morning everyone....just one more day for us and FINALLY Pat has his interview!!!!

Everyone doing ok?? Have a good weekend??

    Yup, she is right!

I even think the papers say so?

    Is he nervous yet Liz?

It is great that he can go in with Blu and John, makes it a bit more relaxed.

  8. Love them Liz!

Good, I always think that you have to live with your tattoo, so you have to love it.

The two greyhounds are a design by Sarah Snavely who was very kind and gave me permission to use it, the knot comes from a hand made heavy silver bracelet that I choose when my son was born, it was designed by a dutch guy who, in my eyes makes the most beautiful silver jewelry.

  9. LOL, want to see?

Nah, he knows me and is ok with it, I already showed him.

Not that he can stop me or anything

    Of course I do!!!

I'm ready for my second one but will wait until Pat's here to get it..hehe!

I wanted mine to be my own decision and no influences on how it would look.

It is my second one also, first one is 15 years old, probably won't wait that long for #3

  10. With our move to the US in little over a week I am trying to keep my head together but honestly :blink:

Going slightly insane here with everything that needs to be done still.

But my question is, can I put the x-ray and the vaccination records in my suitcase?

All I need to have ready at the point of entry is our passports and the closed envelope I think?

    No other papers needed?

Sigh, I am exited to finally be together, but trying to get rid of a 2 persons household isn't my favorite thing at the moment.

Anyway, thanks for the answers in advance.

    Back to packing

  11. Peet - WOW...just 17 days left??? It seems like its gone by fast! I'm sure it'll be fine the day of the flight and the dogs can go!! Awww....will there be a lot of things going to the second hand shop?

Yes, looking back now I realized that it was 7 months exactly from the day we sent in our application to the day we received our visa's.

And yes, most furniture, kitchenstuff and books are going.

    Hardly taking stuff with us.

Just a few books, my sons toys(I know, he is 14 but not ready yet to let stuff go),clothes and special memories like pictures and a few little things.

  12. :D great to see how close most of us are, or is it all of us?

Great to see you here Pat, heard a lot about you already.

I am starting to count down now, only 17 more nights before we get on the plane.

Lets just hope the temps will be below 85 degrees that day, other wise the dogs can't fly and we will be stuck.

Oh well, we're thinking positive, it will be a cold day in DC and we will be flying.

It is a crazy feeling, called a second hand shop today, they are coming over to empty my house 2 days before we leave.
