  1. Hmmm...we're actually saying ages, huh?? Haha....Peet, I bet I either have you beat or we're close in age!! I'm Liz (gulp...37) from Texas and my fiance Patrick (39) is from Den Haag. We've been together just over two years now and engaged for 1 1/2 years. He's made quite a few trips here to Texas to visit and we're hoping to have me there after he has his interview so that I can fly home with him! :luv:

I don't know about the police certificate either. You might try emailing the Consulate in Amsterdam...I've heard they are very friendly and willing to answer questions.

LOL, you are still a baby

  2. Really hope it all works out like that Paul.

We've been in a downward spiral the last week. With the financial set backs and me having more than one accident, we got ourselves pretty depressed. Even to the point we wondered if we could pull it off.

We almost fell into that trap of leaving each other alone.

But we didn't :) How easy it could have happened.

This morning I woke up and found 2 tickets in my mailbox for the end of april.

Think we need the time together.

Oh, I loved the pictures of everyones pets :P

  3. well, this is something we don't have in the Netherlands :innocent:

and it is one of the differences that I love exploring

That is not far at all from where I work! :)

I love Philadelphia. There is so much to do. Lots to take pictures of.

If you are interested in meeting up with another USA/Dutch couple, let me know when you will be visiting DC or NYC!!

I have visited Philadelphia once now and had so much fun taking pictures there.

Loved it there, Jack worked close to there also as I understand.

We have spent some time in NJ last summer, went to Cape May, loved it there.

Well, we will just have to stay in contact than

  4. Oh boy, now you did it Liz.

The dogs are the cause of Jack and me meeting :P

Right now I have just my two Spanish girls, used to have more.

    Jack has two ex-racers.

    Cara, galgo espangol:

    and Tex, also a greyhound

These 4 will have to learn how to live together.

They are all rescue's. Jack's are from the race track, mine from Spain (hunting racing scene)

  5. Jack and I are planning a lot of trips, he wants to see Europe, Prague will be our first trip I think.

And I would like to see the US. There are so many beautiful places out there, I fear we won't have enough time to see it all.

To my surprise I liked our visit to Philadelphia a lot, this while I like living out in the country a lot. The few years I lived in a city, yuck. But I love going on trips, love seeing new sights. Mainly because I discovered photography a few years ago and that learned me how to pay attention to details.

I do notice that when things get stressful ( work and other not relationship related stuff ) it is hard not to unload with the other. Maybe because it is saver to do it with each other than at work for example.

Until now we both managed to pull each other out of a bad mood, but sometimes it takes an awful lot.

But you are right Paul, by the time things do work out, we will be so much stronger for it.

  6. HEYYY EVERYBODY!!!

    That is great, congratulations!!!!

Now you have to inform us on every step you take

  7. Shouldn't be on here, should be in bed, but hey, can't sleep anyway.

Have no clue what is wrong with me these days, but I am totally hyper.

Am trying to take care of lose ends when I have the time. I will take a big step back in my volunteer work next weekend. So I can concentrate on other things, but it brought a lot of extra work.

I have, finally decided on the crates for the dogs to fly over.

There is so much conflicting info on how big the crate must be that if I were to do it according to KLM standards, the crates would be huge and actually even a bit dangerous because they would be way to wide.

My dogs are tall but very slim. that made it difficult.

The rules on vaccinations are very clear, nothing hard about that, it is more dealing with the rules of the airlines that make it hard.

Several don't fly big dogs, others don't fly them all year...

Once we have the visa's, than we can look for a flight that will allow us to take the dogs also.

You guys are making me pretty hungry with all that food

  8. there really doesnt have to be much confusion, the website is pretty clear:

    18-64 years

DTP (Diphteria, Tetanus and Polio) --> get it from the pharmacy and go to your dr BEFORE the appointment with the Embassy's dr! Then get refunded.

BMR (Mumps (Bof), Measles and Rubella) --> if born after 1956 (if administered before 12 months of age, repeat dose)

Marieke....your flashing cupcakes are making me hungry...LOL!

    haha!

Ai, I eyed those cupcakes for a while now also.

I have 2 sisters that are really into the cake baking business.

That means cupcakes for many occasions also.

    Yummie.

But Jack is out of luck, I am a terrible cook unlike my 3 sisters.

About the vaccinations, that is what I read into it, but I couldn't imagine that would be all it takes.

I will have them done after my ribs and arm heal up I think.

My buy for this month is 2 kennels for the flight. This way both dogs can get used to them early.

I'll leave them in the living room for the next months, covers in there and treats are going to be fed in the kennels.

I found a place that sells them for a very good price, since I need 2 large ones, I am really happy about that.

I have looked at marktplaats but didn't find what I needed or wanted.

  9. Jeanine, have you found a list of all the vaccinations needed?

I have done the research, but there is no way for me to find records, since they just didn't keep them at that time.

The moms were supposed to do that. After 44 years I can't blame my Mom for not having that little piece of paper, can I?

I know there is a list somewhere but I can't find it back, if I do remember correctly, I wouldn't need the hepatitus B, since I am over a certain age.

But I would like to have a good list so I know for sure what to get and what not.

  10. If Patrick is born before 1974 he will have the same problem I have, no records of vaccinations anymore.

:crying: I'm from 1964 and will need all vaccinations redone.

Marieke, do you still have a list of all vaccinations needed?

I will have them done at my 'huisarts'

Need to spread my costs over the coming months. So I was thinking to do them in a month or two, if I can find out which ones I need .

  11. And another one planning a visit, hope to go over end of April, start of May.

Thought we get things going already at the school my son will attend when we get our visa's :)

Am I crazy? I am already selling stuff I don't want to bring, ordered the airkennels for my dogs, just so that I won't have to do everything at once.

And for the feeling of actually doing something instead of sitting on my butt and get older every day...

  12. Welcome Marieke, great to see you here.

Liz, there should be a number on the back of your check, that is your Case number.

If you type that on the US Gov. site, you probably will see your NOA1 date come up

Ams lowly doing ok here, fell of my bike last week in the bad weather and got pretty hurt.

Which made my SO say that he would be glad when I didn't have to get on my bike again.

Sigh, didn't dare tell him it might turn out I may be even more dangerous in a car :jest:

I have been keeping an eye on Igor's list, but that one is driving me absolutely crazy, going up and down.

So I am taking that with a grain of salt.

Don't know if you guys are into blogs, but Jack and I have been doing a blog together for quite some time now.

    If you are interested: http://jackandpeet.blogspot.com/

We try to keep things up to date.
