  1. the Pudge is sleepy, the rash is getting better, it's drying up and it's not that itchy anymore. Now he knows the commando "stop", it's working with everything like walking, scratching, licking the rash. He's a good boy :star:

    How's the big O?

  2. Val & 5 - ####### are you two on about all the time? I'm sooooooooo lost!

Chrito - yup that's the one I was talking about. Crazy!

    absolutely crazy.

there was something crazy going on in Germany, about 6 km from my hometown in a small village.

a man shot his estranged wife, picked up his 2 boys from kindergarden (one was actually a school kid, but in Bavaria there's no school for 2 weeks) drove with the boys to the Czech Republic, went into a small hotel there and shot the kids and himself at night.

  3. /scratches Miami off the list for future homes.

that's nothing compared to the 2 drive by shootings we had at the dog park 2 weeks ago...

Miami is nice, really, if you can afford living in some of the nicer areas, in other words: be rich enough :crying:

a guy in the shop was just telling me there was a mass shooting in cumbria. now I need to look this up!

do you mean that guy running amok and shooting 15 people out of his cab in 3 different towns?

  4. nah, ben is right here asleep on the floor.

on the floor? can't afford a crib for him?

I think I hear gun shots a few streets over..

yes, here comes the police. maybe I shouldn't go out today :help:

  5. I'm making some salty pastry in a bit. I have so much cream cheese in the fridge...

really simple recipe, but very high fat content :innocent:

roll puff pastry really thin, cut in squares

    brush with egg wash

put some cream cheese on the squares (leave edges uncovered)

    sprinkle with bacon bits

put some onion rings (half rings, thinly cut and browned in butter) on top

bake until puff pastry is brown

sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley (optional)

    serve hot or cold

  6. My German accent? OK, think Liam Neeson in Schindler's List. Then realize that I absolutely suck at voice impersonations and can not even fake a decent accent.

I just wanted to think about Liam Neeson. luv.gifluv.gifluv.gif

    Prayers going your way, Sis!

    Thanks! :luv:

  7. Good morning, Cheeto!

The only advise I can give is.... F-em'.

    Good morning Nagi!

Thanks for the advice, that's what I'm intending to do. I don't even know if I can work that long for them because on the weekend a great opportunity opened for my hubby, we'll know more in 3-6 months. All I can say is that it includes a huge pay raise and relocation to North Florida. And we're so hoping that he will get the job (prayers are very much appreciated)

I'm brushing up on my German accent right now.

I really would like to hear your "accent"

  8. Maybe they will be willing to accept a recommendation letter from someone who knows you locally, like a pastor or someone?

Ha, ha, I'll have the whole Budget Office of the Airbase write one, and maybe one from a person who works in the prison here

Unfortunately no pastor, not going to church...

Val, I most certainly would name you! I wonder what you come up with. "worships the spirits to fully content.." or such...

  9. Morning Commies!

Dear *insert whatever divine name here* !!!

Just got an email from my future employer. Now they want reference letters from my supervisor.

    1. I'm not doing this because it's uncommon in Germany

    2. All my jobs have been a long time ago (quit my last one in 2006)

    3. All of my jobs were unpaid internships or student part-time ones

    4. My last one was at a place with a huge change in personnel (all students, can't even remember my co-workers last names, they were never listed with last names on the phone list)I'm pretty sure nobody remembers me there...

    5. My HR person can't call international numbers

    6. How should I come up with any reference letters when the job starts in 3 weeks? They couldn't figure that out 4 weeks ago?

I told her all that, I let her figure it out.

  10. Amby: not yet, mail is a bit slow here...

    Hey nina!

I've been good, been at the in-laws over the weekend, very relaxing.

Poor Pudge has Hot Spots all over. Damn mosquitoes, have to keep him from biting his legs raw

  11. Maybe she really isn't feeling well. Hope your Mom gets the clue and takes her to the docs...

If you need some suggestion in Ireland, I can name you some stuff (for example Kilkenny, nicest spots on the ring of Beara, Cork etc.)

  12. she was really excited about coming, but being homesick and missing mom was bigger. I asked her if she was going to regret going home instead of going to all these places I planned because she wanted to go there and she said "not more than I'd regret not going home". I just left it and got her a ticket home. nothing more I could really do from there.

Oh boy, others would give an arm and leg to have this opportunity (e.g. me :crying: ). She is a child, nothing more to say

    Good night Cinco!
