its not uncommon actually.. happened to me. I got the interview before i got the actual ead. like the above poster said, its generally a good thing.. means ur case is moving along quickly.. my whole process took just under three months.
-
boils down to the same thing..i did all my copies at the ups store and i had absolutely no problems.
A certified copy is not a notarized copy.Certified copy can only be obtained from the issuing agency.
-
you cant get that done at the court or wherever there is a notary public.. most ups stores have one
It is an official copy from the govt. agency that issues the birth certificates, it has the seal/stamp from the issuing agency (department of vital statistics) -
i did mine in Garden city..my experience was pleasant tho, so u mighta caught this lady on a bad day.. based on what you said, i wouldn't be too worried.
My hus's AOS interview will be coming up in Feb, also in Garden City, NY. I hope all will be fine and I do not have that same woman. -
congrats
Congratulations... -
yeah your best bet in this instance is to look for the check to be cashed. i wouldn't panic if i were u.
Wait another week and see if the check gets cashed. Then on the back of it will be the number they use for you case.
You can use that to go online with your case.
(without that number - it makes it very difficult to track your number if you call them)

the sponsor only matters for his/her level of financial support.. their background info is irrelevant as long as the IRS stuff is str8.
Anyone knows what they do with his info? if they check the IRS or something to see if he is evading taxes or anything else??? do sponsors get scrutinized at all???Thanks for the info
-
you should go with him just in case..

Sure, they work weekends!
Did you have your biometrics done on a Saturday or know someone who did?
Hello there! I'll be having my Biometrics this upcoming April 25th which is a Saturday.
seems a bit odd but i guess i wouldn't be too surprised..

Yes, you usually get those before the interview.
And sometimes you get the card without the interview. Depends.
You will get a letter either way
yeah alot of the time, when the case is transferred to CSC, that means the case may be approved without an interview.

Yes, you all have missed something... The parents that were so supportive and would have DONE ANYTHING TO PROTECT U & ALFREDO, were deserted when they found info that was not favorable to this couple which is why there is a request for more proof.
BTW... So sorry to see that Alfredo's family over rides your own, taht you can not even acknowledge YOUR sisters 2nd birthday or Easter or call home to let us know that you were safe & that your mother is pregnant!!
ok if you got beef, take that $#it elsewhere. this is not the place to air dirty laundry, there are lot of people who come here looking for help and it annoys me that you use this forum to air your family grievance..it might have been cool the first time because you were angry or whatever but this is stretching it...not only is your post out of place, but its a complete waste of other people's time..!
-
Your mother called you as well to advise you of the same thing, you chose to ignore her. Apparently the same letter came for Alfredo at the family home you hastily moved from, that you chose to ignore. Quite possibly they want copies because you do not have any co-sponsors for Alfredo now & you do not have a job to support him. You only tell this forum what you want them to know, not the whole truth. Maybe you should resend new sponsor letters from your dad since hes the only one you will communicate with.
oh wow..!

yeah y should u have to pay for a replacement? infopass..
-
yah only thing you can do is wait,,going to the ss offce wont change anything..i think i saw in an earlier post that you could schedule an infopass and have uscis call the ss office to validate your gren card or watever..the same thing happened to me after i got my green card annd the ss couldnt locate my green card in the dhs system..two weeks later the card showed up so

just wait it out..if you feel your interview went well, u should be ok..

I do have proof of employment listing the rate for ONE of my jobs (yes, Plural).... and even if I just use this one, it would be sufficient for meeting the poverty guidelines. Is this okay to submit just this one.. or should I gather letters from other places of employment?
Also, another note regarding the proof I do have: it is for a 3-month contract (I have current -- dated today) and the prior one.
Well, yes and no. Of course if it is sufficient, there is no problem. But you have to attach the previous years tax return which will show a higher income and w-2s from multiple employers. I guess I would state a combined income figure and attach a sheet to explain two or more jobs. But I am like that.
i agree..

so many questions here but many have been asked before. although i wasn't asked about that parents question...we were asked if we had a party or whtver after the wedding so i could see how that question could come up about your parents. it shouldn't be a turning point in the interview but that, along with other things could seem like a red flag for the IO. what do u mean when u said you went with 'emotion?' you need way more than emotion to prove your case. remember the onus is on u to prove and it does seem like you weren't well prepared. good luck if u have a second interview.

In your case (and virtually all/most K1 entrants) you will receive a 2-year ('conditional') PR/Green Card once your AOS is approved.
Just prior to the expiration of this 2-year PR/Green Card (90-days prior to be exact) you can/will file to 'lift conditions.' Lifting conditions will result in a 10-year validity PR/Green Card.
correct..

Yeah, how can he possibly be making enough money on a student visa? Any student visa I've ever heard of only allows for part time work.
You may want to consider finding a co-sponsor to ensure the poverty guidelines are met for your whole family. For your family of 4, his income would have to be $27,562. Difficult to do only part time I'd imagine.
yup..co-sponsor and how exactly does ur husband support you on his student loans..students on f-1 can only work up to 20 hrs a week , ON CAMPUS! F-1 students are not legally permitted to work off-campus, unless they filed for economic hardship..

Hey everyone!
It seems like the problems never end.
I got my work authorization last Monday. On Friday I was at the SSA to change my address and name(in my new married name,as it appears on the work permit) and they told me they cannot find me in the USCIS system. They have to check the authenticity of the work permit and that takes up to 12 weeks.
was anybody here in this situation?
And I also would like to know if with the travel doc I can travel just to visit my family?Or is just for emergency situations?
Thank you guys!
have a nice weekend!
exact same thing happened to me when i got my GC and i went to update my card to remove the 'work only with dhs authorization'.. they also couldnt find my a # in the system and told me to wait 12 weeks. 3 weeks later i got my new card.
Form I-864 Financial Responsibility

once you get the green card i am pretty certain that the financial responsibility piece is no longer necessary. this is only required during the waiting period (while u await the green card). once that is done, the person is no longer financially responsible for you.
