  1. I cook my turkey upside down so the juices stay inside. I turn it over during the last hour and then cook it some more in foil. I rub it with olive oil, sage, fennel and rosemary. Then I bast it with turkey juices every hour or so. Then I pour a glass of white wine and keep basting every 30 minutes. During last half an hour I rub it with little honey for a beautiful glaze. I serve it decorated with rosemary sprigs, fresh apples and pomegranade seeds.

    DELICIOSO!

  2. I always send my mom barbecue sauce, peanut butter, maple syrop and popcorn. She loves all these things!

I also buy her cute Christmas socks and pijamas, she always appreciate it. Clothes is always a good present since you can get good stuff on sale in Macy's while in Russia you will have to pay the full price for everything. Baby clothes is always appreciated by my Russian girlfirends.

  3. They usually say that if they want to go over the file one more time or they have some kind fo question and they want to talk to the supervisor or think about it.

The officer gave me such a notice too because he wanted to see my husband. My husband came half-an-hour later and after talking to him for a couple of minutes he corrected the notice to "approved".

You don't really know what is going inside those people's mind. For example dring my interview the officer left to talk to another officer for a second and then this other officer got into my room, said hi to me and commented on how beautiful my coat was. Why was it necessary? Sure not for my coat.

I don't think we understand all those procedures they have but I am sure they are following their internal rules. Everything they do is for a reason.

Don't get discouraged. I am sure you will hear something soon.

  4. I notarized my signature in the bank with no problem.

Bank of America is known to be difficult.

Tell them that they are just notarizing your signature, not your affirmation or anything.

Do you have a notary at work who can do it? Or try a translation agency, they usually have notaries.

I would notarize your signature myself (as I am Russian and I am a notary) but you live way too far from me.

  5. Success!!!

I passed my interview today. The wait was only 5 minutes. The guy was difficult. He asked me where my husband was before even asking any questions. I said he was at work. He proceeded with the interview, asked me all kind of questions, signed all kind of forms. Didn't care to see any paperwork or anything except for the green card.

In the end he said he needed to see my husband before he could make any decision. He said that I might tell him that I still live with my husband but actually he is in Florida and our marriage is a scam.

So I got out of his office, dialed my husband's number and told him to get his butt to the immigration office as soon as possible which he did. :star: The officer talked to him for a few minutes (just small talk, not even about our marriage) and approved me for citizenship.

I guess he was happy to see that my husband indeed exists.

Anyway I should get an oath letter in a month or two (hopefully quicker).

The officer told my husband that they are doing it on a routine basis to avoid marriage scam. It isn't anything about me or my application, it is just a new procedure. Make sure your spouse come to the interview with you!
