  1. People get surprised when I tell hem that we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Russia. Hullo, pilgrims came from Europe to America, not the other way around.

My mother-in-law thought I would have no clothes when I first got here. Where did she take this idea that Russian people are so poor that they wear the same clothes every day? Was she surprised when I showed up in my mink coat.

Russian women do love their fur! :)

    We most certainly do!!!! :star:

  3. Wow, it is a good insurance! 25 bucks! I paid at least 2 grand out of pocket for a normal uncomplicated delivery.

And my insurance is considered to be good.

I havn't been here for a while. Nice to see everybody again! :star:

  4. Aren't you supposed to file for AOS within 90 days after your arrival to the US? What is your status right now? Your K-1 visa has expired and you don't have a green card....

I don't mean to judge but I'd rather not have a lavish wedding but enough money for AOS. This is what we did. We were glad we did that when my hubby got laid off and I had to support him while he was looking for a job. If I didn't have a green card and couldn't drive, it would be a disaster....

  5. The ceremony took place in the courtroom. My husband and mom were sitting in one part of it together with the other families and relatives and people taking the oath were sitting in a separate part of the room. They did a good job incorporating families in the ceremony. My husband was even allowed to take a picture with me and the judge.

  6. I hated the US my first year here. I come from the capital city and had to move to a little city where people were afraid of foreigners and it was impossible to get a job. I cried every day for my old life. Then I just made an effort to move to a bigger city which we did (I got a job offer). It isn't a capital of course but at least people don't get scared if you have an accent.

Everything takes time. And effort. And the US is a hard country to live in. Many people can't do that at all.

  7. Hey guys,

Thank you so much!!!! I am a US citizen now. Nice feeling.

The ceremony went well. Both my husband and my mom who is visiting from Russia attended. The funny thing that at the ceremony my documents were processed by the same guy who conducted my interview. This difficult dude who wanted to see my hubby.

Well, he recognized us both immediately. He even nodded approvingly when he saw that my hubby showed up with a big bunch of flowers for me.

So glad to be done! I already registered to vote, I will run to SS office today and apply for the passport on Saturday.

Now on to getting ready for my son's first birthday party next week.
