  1. I think the best thing to do is start on your paperwork right now so that you have it all together when the day comes that you are actually married. The more organized and prepared you are ahead of time, the better off and quicker your process will go. Some things take time to get and the paperwork is not easy so start now is my suggestion. I know my hubby is not from the same country and things are quite different but we got both a K1 and our I-130 approved in a little over 3 months. I really don't think there is a system at USCIS. I know some countries are easier than others but sometimes I think it is just the luck of the draw. Whether a USCIS officer is having a good day or bad day.

We are all here to help. It is not easy and for me there were plenty of tears. In the end VJ makes me feel so much better and hearing all these stories of love and how it survives keeps me strong. Whenever I feel down I look at the people who have been waiting for over a year. After that, I pull myself toghether and try to do something positive to help pass the time. Don't give up before you start. You are in for some bad times and some really happy times once your applications actually get approved.

  2. I'm at CSC and still haven't heard a word although I am one month behind you all. I don't think that there is any system in place. I think that it is so weird that people who have filed at the same service center, after me, have been approved before me. Drives me crazy. It is definately not first come first serve. They should fire everyone at USCIS and hire all of the VJ's. I think we could completely fix their stupid system and spit out approvals like crazy. There should be some sort of system that is like if you have all the proof and everything is sent in as requested, it should be approved. What is so freakin hard?

  3. I think you will be just fine. It is an adjustment period but after you get all of the nervous first reunion at the airport out of the way, you will be sooooo happy. We haven't been able to exactly live together yet except for a few months at a time and every time he visits I feel so nervous like a little kid again. After the initial anxiety, we were just fine. I am so excited for you. Cheers!

  4. Right, when we were first applying my hubby was here on a VWP when we married. We talked to a lawyer and she told me that he had to go back because of his intentions. You cannot come here on a VWP with the intentions to immigrate. You have to be here on a K1. I don't know if that is true because who can trust a lawyer. My hubby went back just to be safe. I think that we are going to try and do a VW for the holidays though. I just pray he doesn't get sent back once he gets to the POE. I would say that no, she has to be here on a K1 or k3.

  5. It is just an observation. For the June filers thread there are a ton of people who have been approved that have filed the same time I did. It makes me so sad. I don't think that it has been touched once. I changed my address online last week and I finally got a touch but I think it was just to update my address. See to me it is weird that desilu took 8 months and that there are a ton of June 2008 filers that are already approved. I don't think they are competant enough either. I look at almost everbody's timelines to try and measure when I will get mine. The timelines that VJ gives me to compare only gives me one other Aussie's to look at and they filed before me and still haven't seen a change. I don't know. Just thinking...

  6. It seems like there are some countries that get approved way quicker than others. For instance...I have noticed that Japan gets processed quicker than any others. It seems like Australia and the UK are right around the same times which are about 4 to 5 months. I can understand that there might be some countries that have a higher amount of applications but it seems quite unfair. I mean our application seems like it is much quicker than India for instance. It makes me really sad for the India spouses because it seems like on average it takes at least 6 months. I just don't understand. There are hardly any Aussies that apply for any type of visa. Does anyone know if they have preferential treatment for certain countries? Don't get me wrong. I am happy for everyone that gets a visa but the times don't always add up. On the June thread there are a ton that have already been approved. Still waiting.... And I am even at the CSC.

  7. I have not been in this situation long but I find myself doing the same thing. I don't go to clubs anymore, don't go out, don't go on trips but I think it is all worth it. Keeping sane is the hardest thing to do especially when my partner is on the othre side of the world. We go crazy at least once a week and have to talk it out and be strong. I cry alot but feel alot better after it is done. Also, I think my graduate grades have never been better. Trying to do things that are positive is definately the way to go. I feel for you. We have only been apart for a few months and that has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I can't imagine years. Stay strong and have faith. :crying:

  8. I changed my address online yesterday and I logged in today to see if I had a new touch like I do everyday at least 10 times. It had been touched yesterday. Does this mean that they just updated my address or does it mean they are actually looking at my case. I saw this topic a while back but cant seem to find it now. Am I just having wishful thinking?
