  1. I know it's kind of late for this but maybe for people who might soon be in the same situation. Once I was leaving USCIS I filed or original certified copies of everything so that I could have two. I paid another $20 for an additional two marriage certificates that were certified originals. I had my hubby get original certified copies of his birth certificates and I got additional ones for myself. The only papers that I was unable to get original duplicates were for the PCC's. Everything else we now have an additional original certified copy, just in case..... Worth the money and extra paperwork.

  2. I hear ya. I don't see anyone else on here waiting for a Sydney interview. I called last night and they said they are full for December. The waiting goes on.... Cried myself to sleep. We are pretty broke but with the help of our parents are going to try and scrape up the money for the 24 hour travel to Au. We just can't bear it. Maybe we will get a January interview and I can be there to go with him. Keep me updated on all your cases.

  3. I am not lucky to get december interview date :(NVC representative told me that they finished scheduling december interview for Mumbai embassy and I am not in. I just have to wait until January. PCC got me. I thought PCC hold me for one week but no it hold me for one month. :(

Adinath521, That is strange because my case was completed on 11/3 and interview was schedule on 11/4 I am very surprise that they are done with December interview because they should be scheduling it up to 11/14/08 but I guess due to Christmas they are done with Dec. But you will get first week of Jan 2009 so don't worry it will only be one-two week more before you get reunited. Rmusic

It is strange. After reading post from u and kman, I had high hope that I will get interview on Dec. 23. Both of ur case was completed on Nov. 3 and got interview on Dec. 23. My case was completed on Nov. 5. So, I had high hope. When operator told me that I didn't make it in december, I couldn't belive. I called them again and confirmed with different operator.

Like u said, due to christmas break they didn't schedule during last week of december. I wonder when NVC is going to assign interview date for month of January.

same here, case complete nov 3, got interview date dec 23. dont worry adinath, you should be scheduled for early january.

I am so sad. I am a Nov. 5th completed and they told me last night that there was no way to get a December interview. They said Jan and don't be suprised if it is February. They make me so angry. They are so snotty about it. I just want to know if I can see my husband for the holidays. They don't understand the heartbreak that happens every month longer that you can't see your loved one. They tell you "NO" and say call back in a month like it's no big deal and like you are bugging the s*** out of them. Sorry for the rant. Makes me so sad and mad.

  4. Is there any way that you can go and get a new copy from some sort of records division? Are you Filipino or your husband? If you are a US citizen you can get a new copy of your record at your local clerk and recorder. If you are here in the US, you can just go to a notary to stamp your affidavit. That is what we did on a different piece. Not the birth certificate but the joint funds affidavit.

  5. Hello everyone. I just found these regional forums and am happy. I am dying to get a December interview but I am so confused by the Sydney consulate site. It says that I have to request an appointment once all the paperwork is received. Is that true if you are on the CR1/IR1 route through the NVC? Or will the NVC just schedule it for you? We don't have any of the documents that the Sydney consulate is requesting becasue we had to send all of the originals to NVC. I am confused.

  6. I am in the process of waiting for my interview. I have been calling once or twice a day. Do you think that they mark your file every time that you call? If so, how many calls are too much? I just really want to know if we will have an interview in Dec or not. I am addicted to calling to see if I have an appointment yet. How many times did you call before you were told you had an appointment? It's pointless to call USCIS because they won't even look at your case so I don't even ask. Trying to get through today not calling again so this thread will keep me from hounding them. Sometimes I think that I should stop calling and let them process our cases. Do they have people who are dedicated to answering calls? These would not be the same people working our cases right?

Your case is no longer in the hands of the USCIS, but with the Consulate in Australia -- under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State. Two separate bureaucracies. Give the consulate another month for routine processing, and unless there is some complicating factor, they will contact you when you are ready. The USCIS "customer service" staff are dedicated to answering calls, but are probably not even physically located in the same city where your case was being reviewed.

Oh I know. My case is completed at the NVC. I was just saying that I would pose the question to USCIS'ers but that would be pointless since they won't tell you a word. My case was completed at NVC and am now waiting for an interview date. I can't help but calling everyday to see when that is.

  7. I had the same problem. Go to spybot.com and download the free software. Run it and it should remove your trojan! Keep it installed and it will get all of the trojan infections as you surf.

  9. I don't think that I am going to be lucky either. I had hubby call in and ask about an interview and they said that no chance of December and probably not January either. They said call back December 12th. I had a breakdown and immediately called back for myself to hear it with my own ears. The lady at the center said that they haven't started giving out dates for December yet. I am so confused and upset. I don't know what to believe now. And hearing all the other stories about being too late I am really worried that I am not going to spend the holidays with hubby. Please someone tell me they have received their interview date today.

  10. Man I feel all your pain. Luckily we have got through the process fairly quick. Even though it has been speedy, I have been crying my eyes out all day. We are waiting for an interview and were almost certain that it would be December but they said that all the Dec interviews for Sydney were already taken and that they thought February interviews looked the best for us. So I called back and they said that they hadn't started to give out December interviews yet. I don't know which lady to trust. Either way, just the thought of my hubby being gone for Christmas makes me so sad and I haven't been able to stop crying all day....

  11. I'm an Australian married to a U.S. citizen and we are returning to the U.S. tomorrow. I'm travelling on the 3-month visa-waiver. When we are in the States she will petition me for the K3, but we have not started the process yet.

My question is, tomorrow when we enter the U.S., at immigration checkpoint should she go through the U.S. citizens booth and I go the aliens booth? Does this make it safer that I am not refused entry because they might see that we are married and say to me something like "you intend to file for immigration don't you, so why are you here on the visa-waiver for visit purposes, you are not just visiting blah blah"?

Or is it OK for us to just go through the same booth and say we are married state the facts etc? Which is safer? Thanks.

It would be safer to enter separately and state a truthful but generic purpose for your visit, like "visiting friends and family" etc.

But what if either one of them is asked if they were traveling with someone or traveling alone that day? I am pretty sure I have been asked that before. Then they have to say they were traveling with their spouse, and it will look very, very strange that they were trying to go through separately, as if they had reason to conceal that they were entering together.

Yes I would definately enter in on the non Citizen side and say you are just visiting. We were almost denied entry from Canada and Mexico because he tried to enter with me. The Canadian side took him to a back room to question him. It was all very scary. I would just enter and say you are visiting family and friends. Have your wife enter on the citizen side. I don't think he was asked if he was travelling with someone the last time he entered on the non-citizen side.

In my experience, people traveling together will approach the CBP booth together. When approaching alone, (many times and only alone in my case) I've never been asked if I was traveling with anybody. It's a possibility but not likely. The answer to the question would be "My spouse is in the other line because they (are or are not as the case may be) a US Citizen. No need to penalize or be suspicious of somebody following instructions.

  12. Yes, do give up hope yet. I was a June filer and was just approved a little over a month ago. That means you probably still have a bit to go. Don't pay attention to the processing times because they are inaccurate. You only need to pay attention to those if you are outside of those limits. The VJ timelines are the best although they are not that accurate either. Hang in there and stay strong. You still have a bit to go.

  13. Do you have your case number? If so, print it out and send it in with the barcode that you can make through this website. Look in WIKI. It goes much much faster if you do it with the paper barcode. I sent both the email and the paper copy.

Also you should follow these instructions. They got me through NVC quickly and with no RFE's. This part is so simple that you should do it on your own if at all possible and not use a lawyer. Good luck!!!

  14. We did almost the same exact thing. We got married while hubby was on a VW. We called the Australian consulate here in Denver and they said that the liklihood of them approving us was slim. Hubby had to go home. He left in July and we are still waiting. I don't want to ruin your hopes but you should be prepared for the fact that you may have to return home. We thought that it was going to be easy to adjust but since the intent of the VW is very clearly stated, it is hard to prove your intentions. It really sucks. You don't want to overstay that waiver or it could cause some real problems. Hubby overstayed by two days and so far everything has gone smooth but I say stick to going home and then coming back on a K1 or K3 or CR1. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

  15. Helllooo everyone

I got my approval on the 12th of sept and we just sent our whole package to nvc yesterday I really want my interview to be done in dec is it possible? Ppl say if u send the whole package sometimes it gets accepted in a week what do u guys think abt this? I don't know why the hell my lawyer took so long to prepare the package. When shud I start calling nvc to get an interview date?

Did you already pay your bills? I don't know that they will accept any of it unless the bills are paid with the barcoded sheet. I haven't heard of anyone sending everything together because they don't issue the IV bill until the 3230 is received. Maybe I am just confused. I

  16. I am getting so frustrated....I keep calling and calling trying to get an operator. I have been trying since Monday and all I get is the all operators are busy we are transferring you back to the automated system. And my case has never been in the AVR. Ugh. I am so grumpy. Congratulations on all of the interviews!!!!! YEAAAAAAA!!!!

Call on Monday or This Friday after 6pm.

I finally got through just now. They said that my I-864 has beeen accepted and that my DS-230 is under review and waiting for a completed. I am assuming that they are waiting from a supervisor to sign off on it. I think I may get a December interview. How lucky we would be to have my sweetie home for Christmas. How did people find their interview dates out? Call NVC. Do they give out the date then send it to the consulate?
