  1. Thanks guys so much! And yes, I do want to work right away if possible...so I need to apply for the EAD as soon as i enter the states?

And after our marriage...apply for the AOS? Did i understand that correctly?

I can't wait till all t his paper mess is going to be of good riddance! My goodness!

Yes, you have to apply for AOS

  2. Work authorization is for you to apply when you arrive in the US and would like to work here, no need to apply if you would not work. So, I think if you completed K-1 Visa, that should do it. My K-1 Visa used to expire for 3 months (it was 4 in 2004), and we got married within that day, after that apply for I-485. Good Luck.

  3. Hey everybody--

I saw the answer to this somewhere in the forum already but I can't find it now-- what do you do with the double Spanish last names? I'm looking through our documents and I feel like we've been a bit inconsistent. My fiancee's "first" last name-- the paternal one-- is the one he chooses when he has to choose just one. However, he does sometimes state his full name with the two last names and his signature always includes the two. Should I just be putting "Gustavo Ruiz" on each document instead of "Gustavo Ruiz Palacios" and not worry that his signature includes the two? I believe the posting I found (and lost) said something about attaching a letter of explanation in the 129-F package?

    Thank you!

To me it's look like he has last name (Palacios) and middle name (Ruiz), but I'm not sure if both are the last name.

  4. Hi all,

I am about to send my packet for AoS but the wife and I ran in to a little trouble regarding the I-864.

In the instructions it says to include the individual tax return but last year we filed a joint return.

Is this still acceptable? I can't see it being mentioned anywhere in the instructions.

Any insight would be very helpful.

    Thanks!

My opinion is to do both, file the individual tax return before you got married and the joint tax return. We did that when we filed our I-864. Good luck.
