My TN DL wasn't expired yet that time, but it was like a week before expired. I went to 3 DL offices, and they have the some requirement. Have one more question here, how do they know if I just moved here (within 30 days) or I moved more than 30 days, do they ask when did we move?

Then I suspect it was the ID requirements... correct?

You still didn't exactly clarify what they said.

If it is then use my above suggestion to get an I-94 that you can use along with your passport & stamp.

Some states are just extremely strict about this. I could not renew my DL here in Texas because they would not accept the NOA1. I called them to see if they will accept the I-551 stamp on my passport but they said no, too. Good thing I called so I didn't have to go through the hassle of getting an InfoPass appointment. DPS just told me to wait for GC and then come back. Good thing, though: card production was ordered two days ago!

You could try going to another DMV office. Maybe someone there will be more helpful. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for the GC.

I went to 3 DL offices all didn't take what I have, what a waste . They told me to wait until I get GC too, which mean who knows for how long. Maybe we just have to drive without license until we get new GC, LOL.

Same thing happen to me, the DMV here in Texas didn't take my passport which was stamped in DHS (which is say that my I-551 will not expired until may 2009), they just ask for the Green Card (don't they understand if the stamped passport is the some ) or they'll take foreign passport that has I-94, which is mine expired in sept 2004.

Maybe you DMV the will give you DL if you go to make info pass and get your passport stamp, because it's work in other state. Good Luck.

Anyone here ever have difficulty to apply Texas DL? please share experience. I just moved here in Texas, and my old deriver license (which was TN DL) expired the same time with my 2 years GC expired. I tried to apply new DL here in San Antonio, but they didn't give me one. I have my passport stamp, and it will expired in one year after my 2 years expired.

Here what they have for proof identity;

The document must contain verifiable data and identifiable photo, specifically:

* US Citizen Identification Card

(I-179 or I-197)

* Resident Alien Card (I-551)

* Temporary Resident Identification Card (I-688)

* Employment Authorization Card

(I-688A, I-688B or I-766)

My passport has stamped I-551 will expire on June 2009, they still didn't take it, because my passport didn't have one of this (my old passport did have I-94, but it was expired after 90 days since I got here which was on June 15 2004):

# Form I-94 with status code F1, F2, M1, or M2, an unexpired Form I-20, and evidence of current enrollment in an educational institution located in Texas or sponsorship in a visiting worker program or,

# Form I-94 with status code J-1 or J-2 and an unexpired Form IAP-66 or Form DS-2019 or,

# Unexpired Form I-94 with a defined expiration date: Form I-94 must have been issued for a period of at least one year and have at least six months validity remaining.

I don't know what to do. I don't want to drive without DL, but they never give me one. If I just wait until get my new GC, that mean I should wait 1 year or maybe longer than that to drive , hopefully will get soon .

There is an instruction in appointment notice to reschedule appointment if you can make it that day. Look for REQUEST FOR RESCHEDULING in your appointment notice.

it's usually in the back on your check. Mine was difficult to read too, I tried to type in my case status online, but it didn't match. Finally I got NOA, and the receipt number is different than from the back of my check. I just don't get it.

They're US citizens, so don't need to do anything, just send the copy of their birth certificates.

Every state have different rules, some states give you 5 years DL, some state just give the same time your GC expire. If you wait until get 10 years green card to renew your DL, you'll not be able to drive about 1 year or more, also you have to take driving test again if you apply DL after expired.

You can request for reschedule your appointment. In appointment notice you'll see on 7th row about rescheduling appointment, just follow the instruction there. Good Luck.
