  1. I am so tired of the immigration process.

Sebastian called the embassy today to see if they have his interview date. They don't. They told him they'll get back to him in 6-8 weeks with one.

From what I've read on here, that seems like a really arbitrary timeframe. Don't people get their packet 4 much sooner than that? We really want to book a trip to Spain together as a pre-wedding honeymoon kinda thing while I'm on spring break (yeah, a month from today) so if we're going- we need to book ASAP. At this point, so long as we get to take a great trip together, we're not too fussed if his interview IS in 6-8 weeks. But I'm reluctant to spend a few grand booking flights and hotels to Barcelona if they just *happen* to schedule his interview for that time.

I've emailed the embassy- no luck. Blah!

can he not e-mail them to request that the interview is not in that particular week as he will be out of the country?

the fact they are telling you 6-8 weeks is very depressing

  2. Long story short.....

I need to get a joint sponsor, even though we have enough assets! The tax return for 2006 was a little short. So as a result I have to send the required documents, along with my passport to the Embassy (asap of course ) and they will then issue the visa. Hey-Ho! Story of my visa journey! I have not feelings anymore with regards to the whole process - it's all been a long up hill struggle and I shouldn't have thought any different of today.

So...since arriving back from the Embassy I have been on the phone having a 3 way convo, and my Father-in-law to be has overnighted (Fed-ex) me a I-134 - which should be here very soon.

To top it all I'm sick and I REALLY need a drink. :dead: Shaz is more upset than me. :crying:

Aww so sorry that that you have to wait some more :( - I hope that they process your visa speedily once they get the extra documents

  3. Still waiting for Packet 3. Sent away for police certificate today.

Apparently our case left NVC on the 12th.. should I be expecting Packet 3 any day now?

Our case left NVC on the 12th also, it just made it onto the embassy system today according to DoS, but no mention of package 3 being sent out yet

How did you find out?

I rang the Dept of State US helpline 1-202-663-1225 and then press 1 and then 0 to speak to a person - they will ask for for your case number and names and will provide you with an update on where your case is at in the system. It is much cheaper for me to ring them via Skype than the premium rate embassy number here in the UK.

  4. Sorry, your request could not be filled.

There are a number of possible reasons why we could not get the page you requested in time. Please retry your request.

If you wish, you can now go to the DHL Home Page and continue browsing our web site. However, if you keep being returned to this page, please feel free to contact us and we will try to find a solution for you. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that has been caused.

That's my today's result, for basically any and all searches. I use both IE and FF because I've already noticed that either work just on and off, at random.

bah :( sounds like they are having problems their end

  5. ooooooooooooooooo

    I give up

as long as it keeps we warm at night I dont give a damn what it is called ahahahahahah

The only reason I prefer a duvet and cover is because it's easier to wash. Though I was battling a comforter plus UK washing machine. There was no way that it was going to fit. I have a low tog duvet at home which only just fits.

ah that is one thing I am really looking forward to - the space in US washing machines:)

  6. Well a taught of mine probably some of us were married before probably not , It could be our Immigration history of filing for someone or not. but something along that line. Might not be you directly but family member relatives you know but this is just a taught for me i once filed for my ex wife and had it cancelled. Was giving her a break but that was a bad idea. Too much problems lol.

I am not saying this is impossible or that some people don't get AP'd for any of the reasons stated above.

But my fiance and I, we're not one of those people. There is NO immigration history. Nowhere in our family. Not even our friends. He's not filed for anyone before me. We've never been married. Never had a name change. No kids. No records of any sort (well, okay, I have to admit we both have medical and dental ones). We're not 20 or 50 years apart - we're pretty much the same age. I come from a country that's not even remotely fraudulent when it comes to visas. I've not attempted to commit a visa fraud either. My only 'interesting' history consists four failed attempts to get a B2. Which anyone and their brother could have. I wasn't denied because I was a terrorist, criminal or anything of the sort. It was a simple 212(B) or whatever else lack of ties to one's native country is.

So I just have to believe it's random, when it comes to insanely boring people such as the two of us. Unless one is to start believing in conspiracy theories and, subsequently, turning into a paranoid.. android.

DHL seems to be dead and it's making me nervous.

Two more days until I call them again.

which browser are you using? I found that sometimes it would not load the searches in firefox so I started checking on IE, then a few days later IE played up so I went back to firefox - think its their website:(

  7.

Govols, you're the American, aren't you?

No i'm the brit and i been in america over three years and spent most of that time looking for a duvet and they don't exist here but some people won't be told lol

    Ikea UK website duvet page

    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categori.../bedroom/10685/

    Ikea US webiste comforter page

    http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categori.../bedroom/10685/

they are calling them comforters to appeal to the US market but they are duvets! The sizes differ from the UK ones, but that because bed sizes differ otherwise they are the same product - I am not stating this just based on what I have seen on the website but because I helped Charley buy his and have slept under it! If they don't fall into your classification of a duvet then it differs radically from mine.

  8. And whatever you do BRING YOUR DUVET WITH YOU!!!!!!!!

Yeah, what is with this "comforter" sh!t! I know they have some retarded words for stuff, but that's right up there with the most ghey.

I'm taking a king size duvet and duvet cover with me. I know american sizes will be different but everytime I need a new cover I'll just order one online. Tom had a comforter and it was a ####### to wash, due to the UK sized washing machines. I ended up washing it in the bath.

If your going to be anywhere near an Ikea store they have the same range of duvets as here:)

Charley fell in love with mine when he was visiting and has had one ever since.

I been in the US over three years and have looked everywhere for Duvets online and instore and they don't sell them in the US. Don't confuse US style Comforters for European style duvets they are nowhere near the same. If you make the mistake of not bringing one trust me you will regret it and end up doing as i did, getting them shipped in from the UK. Once again Ikea or anyone else in the US do not sell them so don't be fooled. One way to tell if it is a european style Duvet is to look for the tog rating if it doesn't have one then it is not the same.

The Ikea at Red Rock and at Dallas do sell them along with a full range of duvet covers. When we bought them last year they had just introduced the range and only had the man-made fibre ones available, but were expecting the feather range to come at a later date, as I'm allergic to feathers I've never checked back to see if they have them. I was however able to buy exactly the same duvet there as I have here in England even down to the same product name. Having slept under a duvet for the last 30 odd years here in England I think I can recognise one.

  9. NEWS!!!!

I have my interview TOMORROW now! Best change the list Laura.

I asked for a cancelation and they had one. Easy.

    Jealous :(

    But Congratulations.

    Sorry being petulant child.

    Thanks!

It's OK. I felt that way getting my NOA2 in Sept, then being held in AP at NVC until Xmas. It's natural to feel a little jellie, we all want the same.

Woohoo thats awesome news Marmite, I am so happy for you (makes up slightly for that long NVC wait). It never occurred to me that it was possible to ask for a cancellation, how did you go about requesting it?

  10. And whatever you do BRING YOUR DUVET WITH YOU!!!!!!!!

Yeah, what is with this "comforter" sh!t! I know they have some retarded words for stuff, but that's right up there with the most ghey.

  11. These are the instructions cdneh posted in the stuck at nvc thread

DHL. That is how your papers are shipped to the embassy. I kept a close on eye on it once we were at NVC.

You won't know for sure it's your case, and you won't know which tracking number is yours, but if you can see they are sending a package to the country you are interested in you can check with NVC to see if they still have it. Towards they end we rang a lot, but in the first while only if I saw a package headed here.

    NVC to Embassy using DHL...

    www.dhl.com

You should choose USA for the country if this comes up on your main page (where it is leaving from). After that, on the toolbar at the top, put your mouse over Track and a menu appears. You want track by reference.

For today, in the top box where it says reference I put :

EXP 12 JAN 2009A <---- this should be about one day before the NVC tells you it left.

Below in the "shipment pick up date range" put the day NVC told you it left as start and finish. Sometimes you have to play around a bit with the dates, but I've usually managed to find what works this way.

In both boxes today I put Jan 13 2009.

At the foot of the page you will see a little box marked track with a red arrow, click on that and a list should appear ...there were 3 pages today.

The only trouble I have relates to the day/date thing. I am a day ahead here in NZ, and always getting an error "The date cannot be in the future" Course it can...that's where I am tongue.gif

To find anything shipped on a Monday I put the same date, in my case Jan 12 in all three boxes and that worked to on their Monday, my Tuesday.

    hope it helps.

  12. Guys? what if AP goes over the expiration date of the approval? (for k3) just a thought

I asked about expiration dates for K1 and they said, those lovely NVC people, that nothing can expire as long as it's in USCIS, NVC or USEM hands. Whatever they are sitting on gets automatically extended.

    Also, congrats, Natan!

5 weeks 1 day for us. Maybe next Friday we can get out, too.

    GrrrIwanttocallsobad. But I won't. *nod*

you are more restrained than I ever was - hope you have good news soon

  13. Hey guys, I have a question. Jamie just called the DOS and they said : your case is not in Paris yet, goodbye !

Is it normal ? It left the NVC last wednesday (14th). When I saw the other french like Kiristen and Jeremy, it takes 5 days to go from NVC to Paris...

I begin to lose my mind, so tired of this K1 :(

My case left NVC on the 12th and its not yet arrived at the London embassy according to DoS helpline. After nealy 6 weeks at NVC I had hoped they would be a little faster on this bit!

I am not sure if it has not arrived or just not been logged as arrived by the embassy. I followed the DHL tracking guidance and all the possible London packets have arrived and been signed for by the end of last week:(
