  1. Just a quick update...Alexandra leaves Cali for Bogota on Saturday night (the long bus trip). She has quite a bit to do in Bogota before the 28th interview. I did work it out to go to the interview, I am flying into Bogota on the 27th and leaving the 29th. I feel much better now. I hope we have our things in order, but man you can worry yourself to death, over details, oh is this thing correct or that thing? I will have a much better idea on the 27th when I arrive and look at everything and help put it in order. Also, to review interview questions etc...

  2. I hope I have all in order. A month and half has breezed by since I received the interview appointment. The interview is the 28th, it all seemed so far away and now I will be flying into Bogota in about 11 days staying 2 nights and flying home. Finances suck but in Colombia they like to look from behind the window and see the love struck couple interacting.

If all goes well she could be here in the 2nd week of Feb.

She needs to sell her belongings etc. as she waits for a courier, on burro, to deliver her visa. It is about a 8-10 hour bus trip one way so she arrives there the 24th for her lab and medical and to get a certificate of migration and there is only one bank which accepts money for the visa so she will have a busy, stressfull week but with light at the tunnels end.

I saw Koakland reference the AOS paperwork and she is correct, nothing we all haven't encountered. The fee is high for AOS, another rapid save, difficult without job stability. I have gone this far and the process won't beat me.

Everyone is at so many different phases in their journey it is hard to keep track. Well wishes to all!!!

  3. We sent Package 3 by fax on Monday. Is it true that they'll actually send an e-mail confirmation or do we just need to wait until the end of the month to see the case pop up on the web site? They claim they update the appointments on the 15th, is this accurate?

We did not receive an email either. Alexandra received a letter and then I received one well after the fact. I called DOS to see when the interview was set and then verified the appt. online

  4. Thanks for making me feel a bit better...I am doing all I can to not make Alexandra stressed. I hope this is one of those things that one day I can look back and laugh. At the moment I am feeling crappy about it....it is tough when you know what you want to do and can't. Love conquers all!! I actually have not given up on going for the interview it is only a wee bit bleak.

  5. Hal,

Thanks that makes me feel better about the AP...in my heart I do not believe she will have problems. I know they at least like to look out and see the happy couple. I guess I was hoping her engagement rock, and all of the proof of relationship as well as her knowing her answers to the questions will suffice. 5 visits worth of photos, boarding passes, western union receipts and so on for almost 3 years. It would not be her that would get nervous and draw a blank on the answers, it would be me. The old can't get our facts straight syndrome :bonk:

I am trying to figure out the way to get there. I need to be there for her support even if they don't ask me anything to get nervous and choke on. The thing is I already priced a one way ticket for her the first week in Feb. and I was shocked they were averaging 650-700 dollars for one way if I booked it now but I am hesitant to do so if something happens negative at the interview. I will have my round trip on top of that and I really can't put a price on our love but financial times are a wee bit uncertain at the moment. Not to mention the around 300.00 still for doc visit and lab. So I am going to try my hardest to go and want to go....just not sure

  6. Well we received our interview date for January 28th. I was hoping we would have hit the cutoff for a mid month January. Regarding this AP stuff it is information on the beneficiary that sparks this? I am scared to death now because I am not sure I can make the interview. Has this become more the rule than the exception? I think fortunately Alexandra has not ever traveled outside the country or anything. What else might trigger an AP?

  7. No wedding rings yet...Alexandra has been cautiously wearing her solitaire engagement ring(not a good thing to wear in the street in Colombia) it is white gold. I personally don't care what my band looks like, the simpler the better, but thanks to suggestions here will need something wide enough to engrave. Koakland I can't see the pic of your ring either.

  8. Diana, I thought about paying to ship it down there but in my over 2 1/2 years I have had mixed shipping results as far as time receiving items. It is better since everything is by airplane but with USPS I made the mistake of sending something by boat(I had no idea it was by boat)I think it appeared at her apartment in 5 1/2 weeks. I could email it all to her but it would cost me a small fortune for her to print it all.

Joe it appears there is no rhyme or reason as to what order they approve things in.....I think mine was in like 126 days. There are June filers still waiting and I was in the July filers group and one of the last ones to file there. I know VSC was having some website issues so when I logged in and noticed a touch I was shocked and that night my status changed to approved, but Vermont truly appears to clear them out quicker. I always thought I was a patient guy, until I dealt with this process, then I realized I wasn't as patient as I thought. Now things appear to be in whirlwind planning and saving money mode since receiving the NOA2.

  9. Thanks Diana,

Alexandra called Bogota and ask the doctor with which she will schedule her appointment and they told her 4 vaccines, I would think that would include the HPV, she is 26. It was classic Colombia she called 2 places in Cali and one said she needed 4, the honest one, and another said she need 8, the one that wanted 400.00..lol. My package has been sent from NVC enroute to Bogota and I think I have everything ready to go just waiting until Bogota receives it to fax and courier the docs they need to schedule the appointment. I have seen some people referencing copies of the entire I-129F packet being needed at the interview but isn't that what was sent from VSC? I sent the I-134 and could email her copies of the I-129F if they need it again for some reason.

  10. I hate to rehash this after reading the other answers....but with regards to vaccinations Alexandra has no records of her childhood shots. She would like to hand the completed list to the doc at her medical. What is absoultely necessary? I do not want them to try to take her money for uneeded vaccines. Thanks again!! Anyone who has just been through this know what is required?

  11. I have been working dilligently on everything needed after NOA2 received. I went to the WIKI and have found lots of shortcuts and help..maybe you already know this but there is alot of current and useful info. NVC still has not received my package so I do not have a case number. Timing becomes real important it appears at this phase. It may differ from embassy to embassy. And I know in Colombia it will be difficult to find find vaccination records, porr Alexandra I feel will be a pincushion.

  12. Ok it seems I am still waiting for my packet to arrive in NVC.....I have already give Alexandra a jump start on what she needs. So she is getting her photos and I am helping her filling out the forms online. I would like to know where is the best thread which can help me with the process starting now...any advice? When they send the packet instructions only then can she make the medical appointment...it is quite a bus trip from Cali to Bogota and I know she will need to do this 2 times. Point me in the right direction to an active thread so I can get some questions answered please. Thanks alot!!!
