  1. Hi There

Not sure if this will help but i stayed in a couple of countries through out Europe before coming over to the USA

i am from the UK, i had to get police records from each of the countries i lived in as evidence(which was a pain)

what might have happened is with the speed fine, it may have been logged on records of UK police check

although i am not sure that is taken into account, speeding fines, so a bit confused there, was there anything other than

    the speeding fine?

Maybe if you have put NO on the form and then when they checked it has shown up, i dont know thats all i can suggest

hope this helps or if someone else has a better suggestion

    thanks

  2. Hey - any news? WASSUP?

    Thanks Darnell

We got in touch with the office and instructed them of our dilema, they said they would

put a note on the system to reject our original one if and when it comes through to them

and we would re submit the new packet to them, which we did.

Three days after re submitting, we received a letter from them informing us that the original one

had come through and was being denied, a few days later we got another couple of leters this

time with the reference numbers on them to track their process on line.

Now i guess it is a waiting game now....

thanks again for all your help.

  3. I wouldn't panic quite yet. We sent all our paperwork to USCIS by regular mail with no problems whatsoever.

I would give it a few more weeks, and then I would schedule an InfoPass appointment to see if they can tell you what's going on. I definitely wouldn't mail another package because that could cause all kinds of confusion.

    Good luck.

Ok thanks, guess we are just in a panic due to the fact we have not heard anything as in the form of a receipt and my Husband is now out of status or would be classed if it is lost in the post......sorry for the panic.

    Thanks for your reply

  4. We had AOS paperwork and packet ready to go, my mother (thinking she was doing us a favor) dropped it in the REGULAR mail. She dropped it in the mail on January 19th and we've still not received anything from Texas confirming that they've received our packet. My husband's 90 days was up on January 23. We have NO way of tracking it or finding out for sure if they've received it. Should we wait a few more weeks? or file again and send it certified like it should have been originally?

  5. H i Guys

I have been told that i need to get my Adjustment Of Status(AOS) withing the 90 days of

me being in the USA, is this true?? i was under the impression that as long as we got

Married(Which we have) within the 90 days(K1 rules) then we could file for the AOS when we can

or want?? i know that in order to get an Permit to work we need to do the AOS which we do together.

Please can anyone shed some light on this for me please just to be sure.

    thanks in advance.

  6. Congrats on the marriage.

AOS isn't as hard as the K1, in my experience.

Many people don't understand the immigration details, so the SSO often tell people they have to wait until they have their green card until they can apply. This isn't true, of course.

We waited 2 weeks and then got mine after presenting my K1 and passport ID. When I went back to change my name however after getting married, they told me that I had to wait until I had a green card. I asked if they mean my EAD and they seemed unsure what I was talking about. So I'm just going to go back when I have the green card in hand to get the name changed and working stipulation removed.

    Good luck. :)

Ye i think that some local offices do not seem to be up to speed with the right course of action.

I have my SSN now, now am just checking with my senator if by having the K1 this will be proff for me to legaly work here before the AOS, i will let you know what answer i get back.

    Thanks folks.

  7. To get a SS#, you need to complete the application (which can be obtained online) and present photo ID in person at your local SSA office.

Yes, and let us know what happens at the SSA office. So far, we've had no luck.

You tried to apply and they refused?

Hi Guys thanks for the replies....

ye we initially attended at our local SSA office roughly about 3 weeks after i got here as i was told to do

that would be time to have me on the system....when enquired about obtaining my SSN the clerk,

who i am guessing had not come across this informed me i would need to get the AOS first then apply.

I thought this a bit strange so i contacted my senator that had help me in the past through the K1 process

they got back to me today to say they had been in touch with the MAIN SSA and that i should take my K1 visa and other I.D documents with me along with the emails they had sent and if and problems to give him a call to sort out.

i also received a useful VJ's site to proceeding with the AOS and all that is required.

Many thanks again folks keep up the good work and info.

  8. Hi Guys

Need a bit of info, i am now over in the USA and have married my Fiancee(now wife)

within the 90 days as laid down on the K1 visa process.

    My question is now what?

I know we go for the AOS but are not sure exactly what hapens now, what forms we need

how to get an SSN( have had so many differing opinions on that) how to get wrk permit

    etc etc etc

    thanks in advance of replies.

  9. Hi Guys

I was at my Interview last tuesday....and am still waiting on the visa from the courier service.

i have checked and traced it on the courier website with the reference number but nothing coming up

    on the system.

I call the courier service they say they have not had anything sent to them for me and to

contact the embassy, which i did, the person i spoke to said that the process would be between 5-10 days

before it is sent to the courier services for them to deliver.

If they said the above sentence, then why would the below sentence be anything but normal?

My question is is it normal for it not to have been delivered yet, 5 working days later?

how long did it take from the interview until you actually got the visa delivered?

    thanks in advance.

see the replies above...thats why i asked.

as i said it was a question, for peace of mind from

others that have been through the process

    thanks for your reply anyway.

  10. the person i spoke to said that the process would be between 5-10 days

If you knew the London Embassy than you would know that 5 days is slow. The normal is 2 - 4 days from interview to being in your hand.

ye thats what i was initially told by the embassy/courier and a friend that has already been through the process.

    thanks for the reply.

  11. I had my interview the day before you. Still no visa either. Called the embassy today and they thought the time scale was fine. I did also call the courier and they said the tracking only shows up once they have it in hand, day before delivery normally.

Glad I am not the only one.

Maybe it is just a London thing..ha ha

am sure it will get here soon for us both.

just as you will be anxious to get over and start our lives together.

    thanks for the reply.

  13. No problems at all with a return ticket. It's the use of the return portion that causes the problem, not the having it.

You'll be fine. Buy whatever is cheapest for you. You won't have any issues at PoE, I can't imagine there are many people who pay 3x 4x 5x the price of a return for a one-way, so the CBP won't bat an eyelid at you.

I came through Los Angeles. The only thing they're interested in is your sealed packet and the visa in your passport. Relax and enjoy the wait being over. :)

Thanks for your help and easing the worries, i was told by someone over there that would be better getting a one way but i will stick with a return.

still waiting on the visa being delivered....once i have it in hand i can book the flight.

  14. my husband just arrived a month ago on a flight that has a return--it was cheaper to do it that way---no one even asked him about it at the POE...good luck!

thank you which airport did he come into?

you here so many different stories...just didnt want any hassle

when i got to the other end....thanks

  15. I was able to book Corina's flight using Expedia. Her flight will be Romania-Amsterdam-Newark-Puerto Rico. The return flight will not be used. No problems at all booking it.

    PEACE............

no probs and thanks....booking it was never the problem it was more how it would have been when i get across there

and how immigration would look on the return flight even though am not going to be taking it.

but thanks anyway and yes very exciting now we can be a family together and begin our new life together.

this site has been and was a godsend i would urge everyone going through the process to look at this site....

everyone is so helpful through out all the process.

  16. Hi Guys

I am in the process of booking my flight to the USA as approved visa has come through (k1)

now my question is.....will it be a hassle if i book a RETURN flight to head over? will i get hassle at Poe?

Or am i just as well to pay the extra for the ONE WAY ticket and save any hassle?

I have spoken to a few people who say return will be fine and one way is the only way

as a return flight will red flag for whatever reason....

    What do you guys suggest?

Anyone been through the POE on a return flight or was it one way?

    Many thanks

If a round trip is cheaper then book that BUT you MUSt book it from your country. You cannot take "return" filght without being on the outboaund flight, they will CANCEL the ticket. Book it FROM your contry TO the USA with a return flight TO your country. Te not take the RETURN flight back and you will have no problems. If you have troube bookinga flight from your country on a US based website (like Orbitz or Travelocity) then go direct to the airline website and buy it there, it will probably save a few extra bucks also.

This is 100% accurate. You will not have any problems at POE if you book a round trip vs a one way (which is usually more expensive).

    Good Luck

thanks guys can i ask if you have been through the POE yet?
