Hi there
Thanks for the reply, ye we thought by having it sent to CSC that it was rubber stamped too.
the story is that we have been waiting ages for a reply....we got on to our senator's to call them and they then received a messaged from them saying that it was to go for interview and being sent to our local office...strange i thought but ok...a few days later we get a letter from them saying that it was being sent to local office and we should receive notice shortly, no word of interview or anything....i think it was a case of sitting on someones desk forgotten, when the senator's office came calling they panicked and came up with "oh it is being sent back for interview purposes"
We were panicking as from my previous notes i had to declare a minoir assault a few years back which i received a fine, we have also been married a couple of times...who knows i guess we will have to wait and see what happens, if it has to be interview then not a problem we have things in both names and plenty of arguments/bickering to show we are married for real lol
What my husband is trying to say is........During the application AND interview for the K-1 visa (which we obviously received) He had to explain about a minor assault charge on his record. The interviewing officer gave him his K-1. so if the minor assault charge didn't prevent him from getting the K-1...then why would they want to interview him AGAIN over the same thing---we've racked our brains and that's the only thing we can think of... We've never lied and we've given them all information we can think of. Why would they approve the K-1 (even though minor assault charge) now the possibility of denial of greencard over the same thing? Doesn't make since. We're now married and living our normal lives with jobs and family etc.

Can someone tell me why some cases require an I-485 interview and others do not? We sent off our adjustment of status in February. We have been staying in touch with our local senator's office as to the status of this.. This is the email that we received today...
I just spoke to the National Benefits Center who told me that TODAY the California Service Center is sending back your file to the NBC. The CSC processes 485s for K1 visa holders. But apparently the officer reviewing your case determined they could not approve the 485 based on the information received and in your file, and now an interview will be required.
Your case is in transit now to the NBC. Once there, it will then be in line to be interview ready, which then your file will be sent to Memphis USCIS (the local USCIS district office for TN) where you will complete your I-485 interview in person in Memphis, TN. Then, a final determination will be made by that officer.
I don't understant what's going on? I thought we've already been through everything and the rest was just paperwork. We are married and have been living our lives happy as a family and now there's still a chance they can deny him and send him back? We've always been 100% honest and he already passed the London interview etc? I'm confused?
Can someone please give me some helpful advise hopefully to ease our minds?
Thanks,
Kara

It depends on your local office. Some don't usually do interviews, some do... so the story goes. Luck of the draw really.
This is the email that I received from my local senators office after they inquired about the status of our greencard.....

What are some of the reasons an I-485 interview would be required?

Did I do something wrong with this post or has no one viewed it? lol

We weren't expecting to be called in for an I-485 interview--can you please tell us why they call some in for an interview and not others--we've just been notified that the reviewing officer has requested an I-485 interview.... we are confused as to why?

could not agree with you more. seems discrimination to me....but what can you do??

my thoughts exactly....i have the work authorization card which i produce
at interview, even produced the letter from USCIS that states i have appled
and am awaiting confirmation.....but still i get no where.
I even explained that to get to this process i needed checks back in the uk
and europe as well as usa checks before getting into the country on the correct legal
visa process, so i don't know why this happens it is very frustrating.
Maybe it is just the joys of being here in the deep south they still struggle
with me asking for online banking and having things paid though a bank account.....

the frustrating thing about it is i received my work permit a while back around the time
i got the claifornia confirmation, i have since been offered a few really good jobs,
but they all need my green card.........ggggrrrr frustrating....

Hi Guys
I sent in my AOS for early this year.
I got word that on 03/24 i would have my Biometrics appointment
which i went too....
later i was told that my AOS had been transfered to California
on 04/12, this i am told means i wont necessarily have to have an
interview....
What i would like to know, now that it is June should i not have heard
something by now?
thanks inadvance

Hey Guys
How are people getting on with looking for work?
I got my work authorization card the other week, all started well..
got offered a job after 5 days, with a start date and everything pending references
and background checks drug test etc.....
Anyway, the company wanted references from EVERY employer i had previously, which i gave them
then they wanted all my information, mainly what i had used and received in the visa process,
you know, visa, i94, passport, drivers license, ssn, police records address id you name it i gave them it.
i get a call a week after job offer to say they could not contact past employers, so i get the names and
email addresses and phone numbers, eventually they contact them...all well and good.
then they call me up to say they are struggling to get the police report from the UK, i explain i gave
them the latest one required before i left the UK for homeland security purposes but they insist on they
must have it, i explain they are only going to get the same as i have given them....
anyway, start day comes and goes they are still waiting on police report...they say there is a next start date
July 5th but i might have to be interviewed again......
Has anyone else had any problems like this i feel as though i am never going to get anywhere being a non national.
please let me have your experiences or just a few words to give me a boost.
thanks in advance
Liam

Just thanking you for taking the time to post that. It has given a psychological lift to some of us who are demented and despairing with the Bermuda Triangle feeling in this snail pace process where we all have moments where we feel the wait will never end, and we'll never get there.
Sweet of you. Good luck in your new job, and thanks again.
hey your more than welcome if you need any help please do not hesitate to drop me a note
on anything you need to know....i have been there and got the t-shirt.
thanks to everyone for their kind words.....officially got word of job confirmation
and hours to work....is very strange being sent for a drugs test for a new job ha ha

we waited 6 months for a reply at the stage your at now.....
i know it is a pain but once you get a reply it all goes
past in a blur from there, before you know it you will
both be together...from start(app in) to finish(poe) we were
10 months total...you will get there in the end though.

my POE was ok, i had been denied entry exactly a year to the day i came back over
i landed in the same airport, i was taken down stairs by an officer after handing
over my K1 package, i was taken straight to the officer who had sent me back the
year before, he smiled and welcomed me back wished me all the best for the future
and explained he was only doing his job last year....in all it is all very smooth
and painless, good luck
-
ye sorry...i was under that impression to about the temp work permit
i flew into Newark last October, got everything stamped and sent on
my way, but no work permit....after a couple of months since applying
for my AOS i received my work authorization card last week.
not great news but i hope it helps.
-
for certain....you only need a Police Report from any country you have
lived in for more than 12 months....i had lived in Prague for 10 months
and Brussels for 14 months, i was only required to have the report
from Brussels.
hope this helps and good luck
-
Hi Guys
Hope this finds you all well and happy and your hearts full of hope?
Good news, after one week of getting my work authorization card i have a job
YAY..... now i can feel as though i am contributing to my family
and we can get on with our life forever....
To the people still working their way through all the paperwork and feeling this
will never end, it will and it does...to think back to October 2008 when i get refused entry to USA
when i thought the world had ended then to think back to the first day of applying
and then the months and months of waiting to hear something eventually things kick into gear.
Keep the faith and stick with it, it is all worth it in the end.....

Hey--we got our letter stating that we've got an interview in Memphis at the end of September----it's got an entire page long checklist including:
a completed medical examination and vaccination supplement in sealed envelope (unless already submitted)
a completed affidavit of support form with all required evidence (unless already submitted)
WHAT THE? we submitted another affidavit of support etc when we applied for the AOS but we never got the medical examination and sealed envelope back--I thought they already have it? all he has is the x-ray???
