  1. I agree that playing an online game is a great way. That's how I met my fiance we both play, World of Warcraft. You pay a monthly fee, but's it worth it. The game has a ingame chat so you can talk to each other, chat so you typing constantly and you level your characters together. That is how we come to love each other. He joined my guild and we started leveling characters together and one day we both realized we loved each other.

You can leave mail for each other and it's great to see you have mail from your honey bunny. :P The hours you spend talking can do wonders for your relationship. I've never talked to anyone as much as I do/have him. The game was well worth what I pay for it each month.

  2. Hello,

Mine left for Vermont on 7/10 and it's suppose to get there 7/14, tomorrow. I am scared and keep checking to see if they sent it early as it's already in Vermont. :(

I'm going to be a nervous wreck this entire time. It's hard to know someone other than yourself, can rip your world apart, when you know you found the love of your life. I wish process was easier and faster, but not putting our countries security at risk. Good luck to us all.

  3. O.K. I sent the I-129f, G-325A, pictures, letter of intent from both of us, boarding passes, itineraries, receipts, passport copies, and included that I had a co-sponsor. I didn't send an engagement letter.. I didn't read anywhere that this was to be included, but I did send our letters of intent to marry W/I 90 days.

I have never filed more than one petition, I don't have a health condition to cause worry, I have no worries of my character always been a good person, I've been with him since January, so, i've met him w/i 2 years, I have a co-sponsor, and I hope I provided them with enough proof we have a relationship. :P

I'm just scared like I know all of us are or have been that something will go wrong. I wish us all the best of luck.

  4. My K-1 is on it's way to Vermont and I am so nervous. I was wondering if anyone could tell me, what would be the reasons it would be turned down? I provided copies of my Entry Visa, 6 months Tourist Visa, boarding passes and Itineraries for 3 trips i've made, receipts from shopping, pictures, and I also mentioned I had a co-sponsor.

My journey hasn't even begun and i'm already a wreck. :( I'm just afraid I missed something, I should've included or they'll just turn us down flat. Is it very often they ask for more evidence at this stage? I appreciate your repsonses.

  5. I will be sending off my I-129f packet today, to the states for my mom to forward on to Vermont, as she has my check book for payment. I live with my fiancee as we have a "contract" that allows us to while i'm here in Egypt. So, at the time I file this, I am currently living with my fiance and see him everyday.

I explained as best I could about the "contract" so they would know i'm with him the entire time i'm in Egypt. While I went back to the U.S. in May, I had to have my passport replaced. They had spelled my middle name wrong and I had to have it corrected. All it shows in my passport is the Entry visa in June, when I returned to Egypt and a 6 month Tourist Visa I got this month.

This is what i have included and do you think it's proof enough? Visits for:

January - copy of boarding passes to Egypt. I lost my Itinerary.

Feb. - copy of boarding passes and Itinerary. Trip I made back to Egypt.

June - copy of Itinerary. And copy of Entry Visa from passport of my 3rd trip to Egypt.

I do have some receipts from stores we shopped or places we ate. Do I need to include those or will the Itineraries, boarding passes and Entry Visa be enough proof?

I also included 3 pictures of us together. I do have a" Marriage Affidavit", I received from the U.S. Embassy for us to get maried in Egypt, but I prefer to marry in my own country and give my daughter the opportunity to be a part of it with us.

Does this seem to be enough proof or should I include a copy of the Marriage Affidavit too? Thanks for your help.

  6. I'm starting to get the papers filled out now for the K-1 and i'm not sure about a question and need help.

Concerning the date we met.. I truthfully know we met the last part of April, 07. My husband knows the exact date, as he made his acct on the same day we met on the game. On the game we make accounts and pay monthly fees and the date we made our account is on there.

If they were to ask me when did you meet? My answer, truthfully, near the end of April, 07. He said, we met on Apr 23, 07. Will my answer cause us a problem since it's not the same as his?

I told him,i'm not sure they'll accept I don't know the exact date since he knows. He said, it looks fishy if you can remember the exact date as why would you we never knew we were gonna meet so you forgot the date. I on the other hand made my acct that day and I have proof of the date.

I look at it as won't they think us stupid that he knows and I don't the exact date and think it weird he didnt tell me the exact date? Does anyone understand? I want to be honest when I answer, but everyone knows your future spouse will tell you the correct date if they know it right?

    Jolie

There isn't a question about the date you met. They do ask you to describe the circumstances of your first (in person) meeting. I expect you know that date base on when one of you arrived in the country in which the other lives. Approximate dates of meeting online are fine as are in person dates in many cases. For instance some people meet during a vacation trip and can pin down only that the meeting occured during the beginning, middle or end of the trip.

If you want to know a date you fiance(e) knows, just ask them. What's the problem?

** I don't have a problem, it's my finacee that does. He said, why would you remember the exact date, because at that time you didn't know you needed to remember the date. I know if you both have different dates it might give reason for them to refuse a visa. But ty becuz I was thinking of when we met for the first time.. not when we met IRL. :( Ty for making me realize a mistake I was about to make. :)

  8. Maged,

I am also going to file an I-129f and directions say funds must be drawn from within the U.S. That means her checking acct or a money order from somewhere inside the U.S. You can go to an UPS and see if they offer a money order, but my SO says, Egypt doesnt have money orders and it'll be drawn from a bank in Egypt not the U.S.

  9. Also, Cheryl, I have an Itinerary for each trip except the first one I made to egypt in Jan. What I do hjave from the Jan. trip is a copy of my boarding passes. I do as well have my boarding passes from the other flights as well.

I have also, copies from phone bills where I called him from Feb, May, and June visits.

Here is what I have so far to prove having met and having a relationship.:

3 - different pictures of us together.

Feb, May, and June phone bill showing calls to egypt

Chat log from skype during May/Jun visit to the states.

Emails from May/ Jun visit to the states.

Jan, Feb, May - All boarding pass copies.

Feb. and May - Itinerary - lost January.

I would think these lengthy visits would be solid proof. It's not like we met once in 2 years, for 2 weeks and havent seen each other since. :( If you can think of anything else I may have and havent thought of please ask. :)

** OH!! I forgot, but I also have the Marriage Affidavit from our Embassy and had it certified by Egyptian Authentication Office. The Consular Afairs also say this on their website:

Persons wishing a religious ceremony may arrange for one separately, but it is the Civil Ceremony that establishes the legal marriage. ;)

  10. Thanks, Cheryl, for sharing your info with me. Since I arrived in egypt in Jan, I made a 3 week trip back to states in Feb. and in May/June for 1 month and 1 week. The rest of the time we have lived together here in Egypt. Since my acct got hacked, I only save chats for one week. My daughter uses this computer, as does her father when he comes to stay with her. I think my conversations between my fiancee and I are private and not what I want my ex to read. So, I delete automatically after a week.

On my last visit in May/Jun I did copy off some of the chats we had on Skype. As well as emails to each other when we both werent on the game. LOL I only have 3 pictures of us together, the rest of us separately. We thought we'd ramble around Cairo and take a few more of us together.

I still think it's the right thing to try and explain as best I can about the Orfi. Honesty is the best policy, but people have been punished for their honesty too. :( I will see if anyone responds and has had exp in this situation.

    Jolie

  11. Kathryn,

You put a BIG smile on my face when I read your reply. I was scared to even see the first one, wasn't sure what response i'd get. Thank you for the kind way you replied to me.

Yes, I have been to that very site and many more reading about an Orfi. I had already read of them and knew a bit about them before my fiance suggested it. As this is his country and I fully trust him, I believed he told me the truth as he explained what it is. I understand some are used for the wrong reason, but that's not the case with us.

We discussed this before I posted and he agreed we should mention it and pray all goes well. Since learning my daughter won't be able to join us here, everyday, I try to find a solution to our problem. I've sat him down and told him, the day may come I leave on the plane and never see him again. We both have cried many times over this.

I truly feel no one in this world is better suited for me than he is. As I tell him, most people only get one shot in life at happiness and we must do everything right the first time. All I know is to be honest and if we're punished for it, then I can say for sure I met the man of dreams, but I lost him. We don't see countries, religion, language.. all we see are the stars in our eyes when we look at each other. This man sings the same little song to me everyday and has for months. I just don't see a man singing this daily to a woman unless he truly loved her. :)

Again, thank you and I respect your suggestions and I wish you all the best.

  12. Before I start I want to say, I truly need your help if you know anything about my situation. What I don't want is judgement from those that oppose an Orfi, as i've read some nasty opinions about those of us that have one. I'm not here for judgement, as i'm sure everyone here has something the rest don't approve of. With that said, here is my question.

I met my SO in Apr/07 on an online game we both play. We played daily for hours and talked through the ingame chat. Later we started talking through Skype using a webcam. Both our Skype accts got hacked and we deleted them. We have no emails as we were together daily for months on game. We had no need for an email.

He asked me to marry him and in Jan/08 I went to Egypt. WE both assumed we could get married.. lol.. but we couldn't and he had already rented an apartment and the landlord was waiting for me to arrive. :) .. So, when I get there he explained about the orfi and I already had read of this before. I agreed to have one because I love him and want to be with him when i'm here. Besides, we knew one day American/Egyptian marriages would resume.

To make long story short.. my daughter won't be able to join us as we thought due to a health condition. Considering all invloved, I decided to get married in the U.S. so my daughter can be a part of it. :) All I want is to have my entire family in one place.

On the I-129f, we are to explain how we met, etc. What can I say about the Orfi in this section or should I not say anything at this point? The CO in Cairo are familar with Orfi's and as i've been told they have no problems with them as they know about them and deal with them everyday.

I would think telling up front would show we are serious about our relationship. I have spent months with him during the 3 trips to Egypt. I don't want to hurt our chances by someone in the U.S. not understanding what an Orfi is and decline our app. But, i'm an honest person and have nothing to hide either.

I'm not sure if they would ask do you have hotel receipts before the file goes to the Consulate if it makes it that far. If they didnt it would be ok as the CO's know of this and understand it.

If you have an Orfi and filed a k-1 and can help me, but don't want to talk of it on here plz send me a message. I appreciate any help/advice given.

  13. O.K. I have decided I will file for a K-1 visa and I visited the USCIS homepage. I didn't see the G-325a on their site or mentioning of having to send it in with the I-129f. On VJ I was reading the check list for sending a K-1 and it has the G-325a included as if we should send that with the I-129f.

Which is the correct way to do this.. send ONLY the I-129f and later I will be instructed to send the G-325a or what? I'm sorry if i've misunderstood any of this. I appreciate your answers. :)

  14. I am looking over the guides and I know if you dont meet the affidavit of support requirements, you can get a co-sponsor with marriage based immigration. Looking at the K-1 I didn't see that option avaliable and was wondering if we didn't meet the support req. what choice does one have?

I'm trying to decide which is best for me to file and I will need a sponsor as I won't meet the affidavit of support req. This invloves Cairo if anyone has experience filing a K-1 and did have a co-sponsor. I read on another post from Mar/08 that Cairo Embassy didn't approve a K-1 because they didn't allow co-sponsors with a K-1, is this true?

    Jolie

  15. If you do not meet the requirements you find a joint sponser who is willing to prepare all the same documents and supporting evidence.

    Read this.

    good luck

Well, I researched a litle more and someone from Jan/08 said, Cairo Embassy did not allow her to use a co-sponsor and was denied. She said, the USCI told her Cairo would accept a co-sponsor, but then they refused it.

Has anyone filed in Cairo for a K-1 and was able to use a co-sponsor? I don't see that info on the K-1 info page concerning a co-sponsor.

  17. Please has any of you filed DCF and lives in Egypt? Can anyone answer my question concerning exactly what they consider the 6 month residency? What did you have to prove your 6 months residence in Egypt? Did anyone come here and use the Entry visa in your passport to count as one month residence? Then the other 5 months after you get your residence visa when you get married?

My hubby and I are trying to get married, but we basically been from place to place with no one knowing their own business. I can't get my resident visa until i'm married or so we were told yesterday. So, we go again today and try to complete the marriage.

I have ben here since Jan, but i've left 2 times to go back to the states. I have been here on the 3rd for one month w/o leaving. Can I count that as one month of the residency req. or I have to wait until I get the residency visa and start counting from there? Yes, I have emailed the Consular 3 times concerning this and each time they give me a link to what i've read 10 times on their website. They can't just explain to me what exactly they req. :(

I would appreciate anyones help that has been through this and knows what they will and won't accept.

  18. When the DCF says, 6 months continious residency what exactly do they mean? This is Cairo, Embassy i'm speaking about.

Do they require you to be married the 6 months and live with your spouse those 6 months?

Do they require a Residency Visa for Egypt and you have not left Egpyt for 6 months before you can file?

Can you not have left Egypt at all during the previous 6 months before you file DCF?

I'm sorry so many questions, but i'm just beginning my journey and don't understand this all. :) I have been in Egypt since Jan of this year, but i've left 2 times to visit in the U.S. My husband and I chose an Orfi marriage when I arrived in Egypt, as we had no other choice at that time. I'm now trying to get the paper work together to get married at the Ministry of Justice. LoL .. having problems there too.

I'm just trying to understand exactly what they require for the 6 month residency. I have emailed them it's been a few days ago, but not had a response yet. I'd appreciate your help.

    Jolie

  19. Thank you, Lynn, for your help. I do want you to know I did search online and i've been to those same websites myself, but no one responded when sent an email and no one would explain to him where exactly they are located by phone. He's not from Cairo, we only live here for the moment. The Embassy has the wrong address on the paper they give me.

I always try to find the answer before I ask anyone for help. Sometimes, we all need a little extra help, but doesn't mean we are lazy and want others to do our work for us. :) I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about me. :)

  20. quote]

there is a brach in almohandeseen area (gamat eldoal alarbia street) and there is another branch in ahmed orabi street . i would rather to go to ahmed orabi street branch

Is there anyway you can write the translation of: Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Arabic? I've shown what you wrote to my husband and he said, we were in that area. The taxi driver and a delivery man both said, they didnt know where the street was or even heard of the Foreign Affairs. He doesnt know how to tell them in arabic where exactly he needs to go. I would appreicate this very much.

    Jolie

  21. Can anyone living in Egypt tell me where exactly is, Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, located? The information the U.S. Embassy give me is wrong. I spent all of yesterday running all over Giza and Cairo. All cab drivers didn't know where the street was located or the Ministry itself. I's appreciate any help as I have a document that needs to be authenticated by them.

    Jolie

PS: Yes, I am going to file DCF, that's why I posted this here I didnt know where else to post it. :)

  22. O.K. I currently live in Egypt with my husband and I have made frequent trips back to U.S. to visit family. To file DCF, I must be a resident of Egypt and have remained here for 6 months. I don't have a resident visa yet and I after I aquire it I must stay in Egypt for 6 months before I can file DCF.

Now, I want to make a choice and get the ball a rolling as I want to be back in the states as anyone does. :) I live in Egypt with my hubby, but I make trips back to U.S. so, i'm thinking the CR-1 would be my best choice. Time wise, I don't know any advice about this? Anyway, can I live here in Egypt and still file CR-1? All I have here are my CC, but I have collected most everything I need on my last trip to the states to file. What else I need my mother would send me, accept of coarse a check to pay with. Can I fill out CR-1 online and send it n pay online or what? Will my living in Egypt pose a problem if I file the CR-1? Would I also have an interview and it be back in the states or only my SO?

Plz, if you can help me I would appreciate it so much. I just want to get the process started and not sure which is the fastest or would be my options. Ty for your help.
