  1. Yes, you can sign on for your mother and send the DS-3032. But remember, you can only do this AFTER a case number has been assigned.

Typically, no. I have seen a person or two get snail mail correspondence weeks/months after they're done with the process.

There's no guarantee, no. And the checklist doesn't specify the civil documents (as far as I know). If you need a formal checklist letter for something that specific, you're going to have to send your IV package without the PCC and then wait for the checklist letter. Alternatively, you can request for the case to be closed without the PCC and just bring it to the interview instead, saving you a bit of time.

You can't give your email addresses until AFTER a case number has been assigned, so that doesn't work. You need to be proactive with NVC if you want to fly through the process.

Thanks Saylin! hope i'll have the case number tomorrow when i call them..(",)

  2. Grats on your NOA2! kicking.gif Start calling Monday if you wish. But be warned, it's taking around 3-4 weeks currently from NOA2 to get a case number assigned. If you wait and don't call, expect a few months to hear from NVC as they have to send the initial information package by snail mail. The benefit of calling is that when the case number IS assigned, you can give both email addresses to an operator. That way, NVC will send correspondence to you by email, instead of snail mail.

While you're waiting, I highly suggest you go read the first two posts. I put a lot of information together to help you breeze through the NVC process ;)

    Saylin Hi!

Do you know if NVC still send snail mail after sending correspondence through emails?

    thanks!

  3. Hi VJ member!

I'm filing for my mom. I called the NVC last January 23 and the operator said that they just receive the papers from USCIS. I'll call them back next week to give my email add & my mom's. Anyway, my mom gave me her email password because she's not that good in computer. Is it ok if i'll use my mom's email account to send the DS 3032 Choice of Address and agent? By the way, my mom is in the other country. thanks ahead for your reply!

  5. You will receive the fee letter with instructions to pay the I-864 fee and DS-230 fee.

You will download the I-864 with a bar coded cover letter. The instructions are in the fee letter.

You can download the DS-230 and fill it out and send it to your parent for an original signature. (Scan signature do not count - must be an original signature.

The US Embassy may send out a DS-230 to your parent.

Hi! can my parent download the DS-230 then sign it then mail back to me?

    thanks ahead for the reply

  6. Hi! I have same situation with you. I'm pregnant with twins which will be due on April. And hoping that my mom can visit me for just a couple of months. Did your mom had her interview already? How was it goes? My have a schedule on April for an interview. I wanna gather information for her so that she can have an idea... :help:

  7. Filling up a bank account and then trying to pretend she somehow earned the money won't work...the VOs will ask from where the $$ came, since the applicant is not currently employed. If she tries to state otherwise, they will ask for her employer's phone numbers or pay stubs...then what?

Or if she tries to claim she inherited the $$ or sold property or something, they will then ask to see the legal papers regarding that alleged transaction...and then what?

Trying to paint a phony picture will only come back to haunt her.

And child care, even for a relative, is considered work, whether she is paid in cash or in room and board.

I'M A PERMANENT RESIDENT AND ALSO WANT MY MOM TO VISIT AS A TOURIST. I TRIED TO SEND HER A MONEY TO FILL UP HER BANK ACCOUNT. AND I'M PLANNING TO SEND AN INVITATION LETER STATING THAT I'M RESPONSIBLE OF HER EXPENSES. CAN SHE TELL THE VO'S THAT I'M THE ONE WHO'S FILLING UP HER BANK ACCOUNT SINCE SHE DOESN'T MAKE THAT MUCH MONEY?

    THANKS AHEAD FOR YOUR REPLY!

  8. Hi, I am seeking advice and information. I arrived in the US Dec of 2008 on a fiance visa. I am in the process now of getting my 10 year permanent resident card I 751 it's under initial review.

I am pregnant with twins and am having a hard time working(physically) . I am going to stop probably sooner than I wanted to. I talked to my boss and he suggested I apply for disability since I have been paying in. My question is am I eligible ? I searched the web site and don't see why I wouldn't be unless due to my immigration / residence status. My husband and I seem to recall when filling out all of the k-9 forms that I would not be eligible for any government assistance ?

Thanks to anyone who has any insight.

  9. The DMV is driving me nuts (pun intended!).

Angela went two weeks ago for the written test, and nobody said anything about the EAD being required.

This morning, she goes for the driving test, and the guy says she can't have her CA DL because her EAD expires before the 60-day time limit they need to process the driver's license.

Now I am wondering how do others deal with car insurance?

Driving is not so much an issue since she has her Brazilian license, but my auto insurance wants her to have a CA driver license within 30 days.

We just sent in our AOS and EAD on Friday. We are waiting for the EAD, so how long will the EAD be good for ? I am with you, I can't find squat on the dmv web site addressing this.

  10. I was wondering if anyone knows what my fiance has to do to get a drivers license in Calif ? We are getting married Monday. She arrived on Dec. 23rd. We just came from the DMV and were turned down. She already has a SS#. I have looked through the DMV web site and there is nothing noted about validity along with the I94, the guy said she had to have approved Adjustment of Status before she can get a drivers license ?

    Thanks for any advice.

  11. I found a 1 way ticket on Hawaiian Airlines for $665.I can't find any discount sites that do 1 way from out of the country ? I also if I buy that ticket, she would change planes in Honolulu, would she go through customs there or in LA (final destination) ? They have 2 connecting flights 1st one is 2 hours later, the 2nd is 4 hours later. I am wondering if 2 hours is enough time to get through customs ?

We are trying to get a 1 way Ticket that starts in Manila and departs in Los Angeles Ca.

    Thanks for any help
