Yeeeeh, got the passport with visa and the brown envelope!!

Arrived at VFS office at 2.45 p.m., the line was pretty long, about 50-60 people in front of me!! However, once the VFS office opened at 3 p.m., there were 3 counters opened and went really fast, got out in less than 15 minutes!!

It was the first AVR update for me.

From what I've seen, once all your docs are in, it's 1 to 2 weeks before you get a Case Complete.

Congrats on case completion. You should call them back during the second week of September to check for an interview date. NVC makes appointments on the second week of each month. Good luck.

Hello I am gathering my wife's documents to send to the NVC. She is from ecuador and I dont know if we need her birth certificate and police certificate translated. If some one could clarify this for me I would appreciate it. Is confusing.... Thanks

yes , if your documents ( marriage certificate, birth certificate, police clearance ) are not in english , you must translate it.

Check with the doctor that is doing your exam. He may be able to get you up to date. He/She can probably figure out what you need. Good luck!

Which form got the RFE? We had an RFE on the I-864. Our mailed response to the RFE was entered into the system on August 8 (after our DS-230 arrived), and our case was complete on August 15. So basically just a week!

We returned China to get married, since at that time he was still China citizen. I know that for K3 visa I must be interviewed in China, but USCIS told us for our case we could do it in Sweden. And my application is for IR1.

I just don't know how it will help even if my husband calls the congressman. If finally failed to persuade the embassy, maybe I will just waste more time.

I would call the embassy. But, I am not sure, but if you got married in China. They might make you do the interview in China.

Please check again the histories of your case , if you have I-129F approved then you are applying for K3 Visa, and the interview place will be in the country where the marriage took.

But if you have I-130 Approved means you are working with CR/IR then you should be able to interview in Sweden as your current resident.

So if you can find the law , or Uscis statement about this , you can show to US embassy.

I think your husband as american citizen should call the US embassy and try to confince them that you should be able to have interview there and before already asked with USCIS and USCIS confirmed it . also You or your husband need to provide them all necessary documents that you have been living there.

if it wont work , go to congressman or senator to help.

Your case almost similar with me, I am indonesian but I have been living in Hungary for 5 years and we set up interview in Hungary and my husband already asked before to USCIS that it is ok if I have interview in Hungary , that's why case number was assigned with BDP mean Budapest ( Hungary).

But my case is in NVC still, waiting for review documents.

I have been living in hungary since Jan 2004, and I have submitted to NVC the police certificate from Hungary , but on their police certificate wasnot mentioned the periode that I have living in Hungary for those periode.The officer who issued this police certificate said that they couldnt put the periode only name , place and date of birth, mother name and address.

do you think it will be accepted ??

2 days ago I checked status on NVC mesage that there is missing doc, my husband checked with them , they said that the indonesian police certificate is missing or something not acceptable and I am working on it to get it since I have lived in Indonesia before Jan 2004.

I had one police certificate which issued on 2004 but already expired, it was record when I left my country.

do you think NVC will accept my old police certificate even already expired and since I didnt stay anymore in Indonesia.

A Life operator gave confusing informations regarding police certificate, they didnt even know exactly whether missing or not acceptable , they asked us to check the link when mail received . it is difficult to get straight answer from them . what can I do? call again and get further explanations??.

Yes that is RFE. You can wait for the mail or do as I did and talk to an operator, they should tell you what you are missing.

I just checked automatically system from NVC today that they sent mail on July 22th for missing documents.

is this notification called by RFE ???, should I check with life operator or wait until the agent I pointed receieve mail from NVC?

Here is the problem my wife and her son were born in different cities in Russia they now live in Ukraine it is extremely difficult to get documents from the issuing authority with traveling there to get them and even then it can be difficult. So any thoughts? How about a notary with apostille that says it is a true and complete copy of the original?

I am applying for CR-1 Visa for my wife. We were married in September 2007 in Casablanca. I just sent in the DS-230 to the NVC and they sent back letter stating that the marriage certificate is not a valid original. All other documents are ok.

It is the certificate that I was given from the Adoul (judge) that performed our marriage. I had him make two originals one for me and one for my wife. We use it to travel in Morocco because it is required for stays in certain hotels. It is valid in Morocco.

The person I spoke at NVC said its been reviewed twice and they still said it is not valid. I told him the story and asked what do I do to send valid certificate and he could not answer me. I asked to speake t a supervisor and he put me on hold and came back to me with same answer. Its not valid but they dont have answer as to what I should do and I can't talk to person would reviewed document.

As anyone experineced this problem. Any help appreciated

Hello sir, I was married in El Jadida, and i am pretty sure there was the paper from the adoul , then we had to take that to the court, they had to make another paper, with a stamp on the back of it, or maybe i am confused, maybe the one with the stamp is from the adoul

I have another that is on a long green sheet of paper, with stamps ,

did you submit the same marriage certificate when you applied I -130?

you don't have to wait from NVC, your embassy is in the appointment post,

so what you have to do is gather all original or notarized , (the require info) and send it to NVC.

use jame's shortcut in the wiki and you fill be fine.

1. Can you help to find a way how to know what NVC request exactly in packet instructions, before receive it from NVC? so then I can prepare it .

2. Can I just download DS-230 form?
