  1. If an interview is scheduled, can you call the embassy to see if they can get a earlier date like a week prior to the original scheduled date? I just wanted to try to surprise my mom and maybe get there (USA) sooner since her husband is the one buying the plane ticket so she won't know.

    Thanks in advance!

No you cant. You can schedule for a later date though, but I dont know many that would. Good luck with your interview.

Well, it will depend on the embassy, in my case the embassy gave us earlier interview date .

I only called them and request earlier interviwe, and then they checked and I got 1 week earlier.

So try to call your embassy and good luck

  3. my petitiopn has already approved(IR 1 visa).but the petition of my son is not yet approve, still pending at the california service.what is the other way so that i can bring my son with me, in order for us to travel together in the US at the same time.please help.... :help::help::crying:

did your spouse apply for both of you in the same time?

In my case , my petition and my daughter's petition approved in the same time.

Call USCIS , it should be the same time.

my husband filed me march 2006 and he was a lawful permanent resident that time.but when my husband become a US citizen, he filed the petition of my son and at the same time he upgrated my petition.is it advisable to call USCIS?

i have the same case with divi. my husband applied for me and my daughter's petition at the same time. with that i was considered the principal applicant. so when did your husband apply for your child's petition?

I suggest you to call them. or id it doesnt work then write to congressman to get expedite of your son's petition.

You cant go without your son! , it will be complicated and too much work on separetly papers.

Mine was easier because we got same approval.

    Good luck

  4. I ARRIVED AT THE POINT OF ENTRY LAST MONTH 18TH AND till now i have nt received my ssn. i filed for CR-1 and i got my wellcomed letter in the mail last 2 weeks stating that i will received my green card by jan,3 2009. yet i have not heard anythin from social security office yet. pls advise me. i also want to know the best time to visit the ss office cos my wife was saying that there are alot of people that come for complain in ss office. so, pls when is the best time to visit ssn office, hope to hear back from you guys. tks.

Go to Local social security Office ASAP and ask them what's going on with it.

My POE was on Nov 28th with IR1 for me and IR2 for my daughter, We just received welcome letter yesterday ( Dec 17th) from USCIS and also SSN card from social security Office but for my daughter she hasnt get yet, if until this friday it wont arrive, we are going to go to social security Office on Monday. when I received visa from US embassy where I had interview they gave me paper regarding Social security , if within 3 weeks from entry you dont get SSN , then you must go to Local social security.

This card is very important . so get it soon .

    Good luck.

  6. in my understanding, your visa (if you entered on an immigrant visa) should serve as a "temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year." this is what i am reading on my husband's visa that is stamped in his passport. also, the immigration officer at the POE stamped his passport with the arrival date, class of CR1 and the date of when his conditional residence would expire. the officer also wrote down his "A" number on the passport.

so, since you already have your SSN, go ahead and apply for jobs, open a bank account, etc. you don't need a welcome letter or the physical green card right now as the I-551 is valid for 1 year from the date of your entry..

somebody pls correct me if i'm wrong.. but this is how i understand it..

    Dear All,

My POE was Nov 28th and until now I dont even receive welcome letter.

what's going on ? are they busy for chrismast?

  7. Good luck Lotto. And I believe she qualifies for filing citizenship after 1 year as her employer is US Army.

    Hi Loto,

welcome back :), I dont have answer for your questions , just want to say congratulation for your wife.

She just arrived In US some months ago, now she already got a civilian job and can apply citizenship quick.

    Both of you are lucky.

I am so happy for both of you.

    Good Luck!

  8. Small airport? Have you ever been to the Phoenix airport?

We're One of the Ten Busiest Airports in the World

On a typical day at Sky Harbor International Airport:

    - 1,477 aircraft arrive and depart

    - 115,570 passengers arrive and depart

    Above from the SkyHarbor website

    Oh , I never been there , I just heard .

thanks for the opinions , will be taken to consideration.

  9. I find it hard to beleive...i think more then likly you either sent them to the wrong place or you send the wrong forms or evidence. I could see them losing it once...maybe the mail lose it once but 5 times? I find that hard to beleive. In some forums I would consider this a troll post.

    Fill in your timeline.

What kind of documents which you already sent ? is it the same paper they request?

There are many possibilitties why the docs is lost, you can speak and check with supervisor .

or you should write official complain regarding lossing documents.

    Good luck

  10. I have only ever had a lay over at Pheonix, so I don't know how it is as a POE.

While LAX is ugly old airport, looks can be deceiving. My wife entered through there about ten days ago and already (yesterday) has received her green card and she got her SSN last week, which implies that the DS-230 forms are processed promptly.

My guess is that the major hubs like LAX are well set up for immigrants because they have an enormous throughput. The officers at smaller airports might be equally friendly, but less experienced with immigrants. I saw a post the other day where a CR visa holder was advised to file for adjustment of status on entry!!!

    Dear All,

Please help to decide Phoenix or LAX.

First options :We will fly from Budapest -london -Phoenix, My final destination is Phoenix.

Please share your experiances POE at Phoenix.

Second Options : we will fly from Budapest -Frankfrut-LAX. and My husband will pick up there , and stay 1-2 nights to see the city then drive to Phoenix slowly.

I heard LAX is more easier and quicker.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ninja,

I was thinking about it also , so since phoenix is small airport , may be they dont have enough experiance, I dodnt want to get delay on my green card and SSN .

I am still waiting other opinion who have experinace at Phoenix as POE.

  12. Take as much evidence as possible. It's not a problem if you guys don't have emails since you are planning to show call logs and other pictures of you together. Also, not everyone in India has internet access nor everyone lives in metro area, so I wouldn't worry about emails too much. I also have very few emails (about 10-12, since we write to each other once a month). But I have call logs for each month. We don't chat because at my work all chat programs and personal emails are blocked. So we have only call logs and some pictures. Nothing else. Hope it's enough :)

    CS

Well, take other proof as many as you have, if you dont have communication with email or chat then you can explain hoenstly.

All depends on the consular , just be prepared than delayed.

My consular didnt ask any proof relationship not even pictures.

    So Good Luck.
