  1. Ok, so I receive the RFE letter for my son today. And it's saying:

Tuberculin Skin Test: Current regulations now require that the tuberculin skin test and/or chest X-ray be completed by all applicants 2 years of age and older. Your Form I-693 reflects that you have not had a tuberculin skin test or chest X-ray performed.... (and so on and so forth)....

Now, I'm confuse whether my son will have a complete medical exam or just the skin test. On my RFE letter, they said I need to have complete one since my medical exam was over the 12 month period (so as my son) while on my son's RFE, they didn't say that he needs to have a medical exam, just the skin test.

We decided that I'll just get a complete medical exam again as asked by USCIS, but should we get the complete medical exam for my son too or just have the skin test as asked by USCIS?

Thanks for all the response from y'all!

  2. We received an RFE today saying:

"The record shows that over 12 months of time has transpired since you were medically examined in conjunction with your K1 entry."

So we're asked to submit a completed I-693 filled up by one of USCIS' appointed civil surgeon.

We had our medical exam last April 23, 2008 in the Philippines and submitted AOS on March 24, 2009, they received it on the March 26th. We know it was close but based on what's in USCIS website we're good as long as we filed within the 12 month period.

Now, I need y'all opinion about what I need to do here. We called the misinformation line and the lady said that we can schedule an infopass but since it has been over 12 months since we had our medical exam, we may still be asked to get the exam again. So should we just go ahead and get the exam? The thing is, money's tight here right now so we're trying to avoid spending if it's not necessary.

    Thank you!

  3. I'm a late-riser, so hubby loves serving me breakfast in bed. So in our house, eating on bed is absolutely OK! Too bad you can't do that in yours. But I'm sure you'd rather not eat in bed than be divorced by your hubby, right? :innocent:

  4. My wife's AOS got a touch on 5/22... I just saw it today, and it says Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

So the green card is on it's way soon, no RFE for 693 (the DS3025 was enough). Just to go along with notes about the no rhyme or reason to which cases show online or who actually receives emails from CRIS... no email about this change, I just had to login and look.

Ya, I never received an email when I had the latest update about our AOS either. I just checked it and I saw an RFE. damn! Still waiting for the actual letter to know what it is about. *sigh*

    Congratulations to you, btw!

  5. I had the same question... i ran across legalzoom.com (i have no interest in this site)... after going through the questionnaire I had an idea what had to be done

can you share with me what you've learned about what needs to be done after you read the questionnaire? thanks!

no I can't really help because Minnesota is different than Texas and anything I tell you will not apply... you need to do it yourself

:wow: OH GREAT! Thanks for your help!

  6. It showed up on our online status for AOS that they are requesting for additional evidence. It was just sent today. Now I'm worried what could it be. The only thing I can think of is the House Title since my husband put it as an asset on the Affidavit of Support, but we didn't include the title since my husband lost his copy and his income alone is already above the poverty line without his assets.

I'd bet money that is not what the RFE is for. As long as you're showing sufficient income, they don't care about any assets listed. Just try to be patient and not worry.....you'll know soon enough. Chances are, it's no big deal, and you'll be able to reply quickly and resolve it. Let us know. Hang in there! Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the encouragement. It helps alot! Yes, I'll keep y'all posted.

thats alright... you have your EAD. somehow, you can move on with your life. get drivers license and work... dont worry for now. wait till you receive the rfe letter. =)

Thanks! Ya, I'm currently looking for a job now. It's somehow good cos I got it which would be a great help for me start moving on with the American life. But GC is the most important but yes I know that as soon as we can provide them what they're asking for, we'll be back in the process. *sigh*

  9. hi guys!!! i have a question for all those who have received their EADs, does the EAD comes with a number or does it just say you are authorized to work?

does the CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED also mean that EAD is approved?

cuz if it, then i have to show it to the HR of the company I am applying for. I want the position so badly.

    Thanks!!!!

Yes, it has a number but it's the same as the receipt # that you already have, then your A# (alien number) is also indicated in the card.

And YES, your EAD is on it's way now.

Hope you can get the job. Good luck!

  10. My husband wishes to adopt my 6-year-old daughter so that she could carry his name. How are going to go about that? My daughter and I are arriving in the US next week. How soon can he adopt her? We did not opt to have him adopt her here in the Philippines as it takes a long time. to do so..time which he doesn't have ashe cannot stay away from work for a long period of time. Also, are there any documents we would need to prepare for the process? I was not married to her biological father, nor has he acknowledged paternity hence the absence of his name on her birth certificate. I made an affidavit of illegitimacy when I had her passport renewed and another just in case NVC asked for one..which they did not.

I'm in the same situation only that my son is a 2-year-old and we're still waiting for our conditional GC. Someone in the other forum suggested to get the citizenship for my child first to lessen the confusion with USCIS. But me and my husband planned to ask our county office whenever we are ready to start the adoption and prolly get some ideas from adoption agencies.

can you share with me what you've learned about what needs to be done after you read the questionnaire? thanks!

he would have to adopt ur son, prolly would be easier to do after u both have citizenship, other wise it could be messy and confusing for the immigration people and lets face it they are a sandwich short of a full picnic as it is, so if it was me i would not cloud up any immigration issue with adoption, i would wait until after everything was out of the way.

    thats just my opinion.

    sara

    thanks for the idea.

  12. At the court house, the county clerk's office should be able to direct you to the right form/office.

    http://www.wilco.org/CountyDepartments/Cou...US/Default.aspx

    Thanks! I'll do this.

The rules on this will vary by state, though if you are married and have sole custody OR the biological father has released his parental rights, it should not be very difficult. It is not an immigration issue, so you may want to address this before filing for AOS. You can change the name after AOS also but then it does become an immigration issue to change the name with USCIS.

Like I said, I never heard anything from my son's biological father since we separated which I was still 3-months pregnant, so I have the full custody of my son. And his biological name was never put into my son's BC.

We already applied for AOS though cos we needed or we'll be out of status cos we came here on K visas.

I just wanna know how's the process is done cos I wanna plan ahead.

Thanks for the response though. I appreciate it a lot.

  13. We're in the same boat. I searched for adoption process here and this is what I found. I also don't have my son's biological father's name on his birth certificate. In fact, the father section of his birth certificate is blank cos we broke up when I was still 3 months pregnant and since then, I don't know where he's at.

There should be another option than finding the guy cos what if we really can't find him and who knows he's already 6ft below the ground.

I hope somebody here can be able to give us an idea how to do the processing and such. Btw, Maju, have you tried contacting USCIS about how the process is done? I haven't. We're still in our process of getting our GCs right now but I wanna plan ahead.

  14. I really don't know where to post this topic, so I just posted it here, hoping that someone can be able to help me out. We came here in the US with K visas (K1/K2) like all of you had, so I'm thinking that someone here have any idea about this.

Anyway, I just wanna know how do we have our son's last name changed to my husband's last name? Well, my husband is not my son's biological father but I had him carry my last name because I decided to put blank on the Father's section of his Birth Certificate cos I don't want to do anything with his biological father anymore when I gave birth to him.

My son will turn 3 this year and I wanted to him to have the right name before he starts going to school.

  15. Hi March filers! Glad to see things are moving so quickly for many of you! I'm an April filer, but I was wondering if someone could link me to the spreadsheet for March (if there is one- I've gone through 10+ pages of this thread without finding it) so I could get an idea of where all of you are, what kinds of RFEs you've received, etc. Thanks in advance!

The link to the spreadsheet is in my signature.

As far as I know, none of us March filers got an RFE yet and hopefully never.

Anyway, our AP and EAD just arrived today in the mail. Yay!!! We're so happy. Plus my husband just had his promotion at work. Lots of blessings!!!!  :dance:

Now, just waiting for the GC. Please come our way now.

Is tha survey thing really working or is it a scam??

Are you talking about the one in my signature? :ot:

No, it's not a scam. I'm actually earning from it. Not that big but good enough to earn cents by just doing simple online tasks.

  16. An LPR who has been married to a US citizen for 3 years can become a US citizen.

And you need to be a citizen to file petitions for your parents.

It's not just not being "an LPR who has been married to a US citizen for 3 years . . . ." The person must also have been an LPR for at least 3 years. I am adding this so those who have been married for 3 years but just got their green card don't get false hope that they can be US citizens right away.

Oh...I'm married to a USC. So, if I get my greencard (2-year conditional) this year, I can apply for US citizenship 3 years from now or I need to get the 10-year GC then after 3 years I can apply for US citizenship?

It's 3 years of being an LPR. For most people it is 2 years with the conditional card and 1 year after getting the 10 years card.

Thanks for clearing it up. My other question, how long the process would take, from my petition to getting the visa for my parents whom I'll be petitioning?
