  1. Canadian health care is basically a farce. Getting appointments is hard and medicine is very expensive. I have full coverage and insurance in the usa.
  2. My father is a gracious, intelligent, and joyful person to be around, but his dementia has made him very high-maintenance when it comes to anything involving memory. I stay in Canada to help prevent my mother from burning out—that’s what keeps me there. I’ll be in the U.S. as much as I can and will make every effort to be listed on all house-related bills and keep track of any involvement in case it’s needed in the future. It’s wonderful that you visit your mother in the UK—that’s much farther and more expensive than going back and forth from Canada. You’re a truly kind person to do that for her. I wish her well and peace in her time on this earth.
  3. Thank you. I will be using it, and I’ll be dividing my time equally—50/50ish—between caring for my wife in Utah and my father in Canada. I also work in Canada and currently do not have employment in the U.S.
  4. Just came in mail AND feels like it has a card inside. I wonder what <DELETED> this is? Waiting until wife gets home to open it.
  5. status says it was mailed July 31st but no tracking # was given.
  6. understood, thank-you I never presented the temp visa and always entered with my nexus card - my blunder I reckon
  7. How did they violate a policy? thanks for all your feedback. I will report if and when GC arrives and the "since" date.
  8. You were all correct—customs was a ton of drama at the airport . I was pulled into the back for an interview, starting with one agent, then two, three, and finally four, including the supervisor. They were baffled about why my visa hadn’t been canceled, as I never activated it before its expiration and why it was listed as "in production." The boss asked, "So are you going to reapply for a visa?" Before I could respond, another officer jumped in, "It’s in production and already in the mail." The supervisor walked away, looking confused. The agent informed me that I’m considered a visitor until my green card arrives and advised me not to remain in the US until it does. They emphasized that my case is unprecedented but assured me everything is on track. Clearly I failed to get it activated as everyone said here.
  9. This is what I am going to ask the officer tomorrow at the border, does this sound like it will get the best possible response from the border officer? And if not any suggestion? I want to avoid any drama. Or should I say nothing and just wait 30 days and see if GC comes? "I’ve been approved for a green card, currently in production, but my I-94 shows me as a B1 visitor. Can you please clarify how I’m being admitted, and if it’s as a visitor, why, since I’m no longer a visitor? Also, would stamping my expired temporary visa help?"
  10. And if the green card does arrive in the next 3 weeks, then all is well and nothing else matters?
  11. just looked at it could have been updated - will report back on what customs person says on Friday about how I am being admitted
