  1. Thank you for the reply. Not that we plan on waiting too long to file the I-485, but it is cutting it close with one week until 90 days expires and may be difficult to file that quickly, so knowing there is no strict requirement would be helpful. From the wording on USCIS's website, the wording does not appear to suggest a strict requirement for the I-485 being filed within 90 days. "Step 5: Adjustment of Status – USCIS If you marry within 90 days, your fiancé(e)—now your spouse—may apply for a Green Card by filing Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status." If you don't mind, can you direct me to the source for your information? Thanks again for your help.
  2. Hello, I know about the Adjustment of Status, the Employment Authorization, and the Advanced Parole. I am trying to make sure there is no paperwork or anything we need to do before the 90 days expires AFTER we have gotten married, obtained a signed marriage license, and filed the license with the county. From what I understand Adjustment of Status is the next thing, but it isn't REQUIRED before 90 days, correct? Is there any paperwork we need to file, any form, to prove we fulfilled the requirement for getting married in 90 days? Thank you.
  3. We originally selected SM Cubao as the pick-up spot for convenience, and this was the location shown on usvisascheduling.com for the last month. Our status now changed to "ISSUED", and suddenly the pick-up location on usvisascheduling.com changed to "MANILA Visa Application Center". 1. Why did it change? 2. Is there a status on CEAC after "ISSUED" that is "READY FOR PICK UP"? 3. Or does "Ready for Pick-Up" a status that shows on usvisascheduling.com? 4. Are we waiting for any new status update or is the visa ready for pick-up? 5. And if so, is this Visa Application Center the same as the OFC Biometrics location, Parqual Building 8, level 3? 6. Or should we just call the help number to figure this out?
  4. Thanks. Actually I am still confused about the CFO. I'm not really even sure what it is, I've just heard snippets on here about "counseling" but nothing official. How do we know how/when to do it? Are we supposed to sign up for it, or... How does that all work?
  5. My fiancée completed her interview last week and was verbally informed the visa was approved. Today we checked our visa status on CEAC. It says "APPROVED" on the top, with the following message below: "The consular officer has approved your application subject to final processing by the consular section that is necessary to issue your visa. When that processing is complete, the status will change to "Issued". However, a final screening step must still be completed prior to issuance that could lead a consular officer to conclude that you are not eligible for a visa. If that occurs, the consular officer will notify you that your application has been denied and your status will change to "Refused". For more information, please visit U.S. Embassy Manila." 1. Did anyone else receive the same message? Is this standard? 2. What is the "final screening step" ? 3. Is this screening step something either of us needs to be involved with, i.e. physically go somewhere and/or submit additional documents ? 4. How will be be notified in the event further action on our part is required? Thanks.
  6. My fiancée went to her Interview Appointment at the Manila Embassy on 7/15. At the first stage, her documents were checked and two mistakes found. 1. Incorrect father's middle initial on CENOMAR & damaged birth certificate. 2. She was given a yellow slip with a checklist, instructed to acquire the updated documents, and reschedule the appointment. Two questions: Once she gets the updated documents: 1) Does she need to do VAC/Biometrics again first, and the Counselor Appointment second? Or straight to Counselor Appointment? The usvisascheduling website has not populated the appointment schedule, yet, when it does, maybe that will answer my question. 2) The yellow checklist has two QR codes, "Scanning and Uploading Instructions" and "Rescheduling and Register Delivery Address". We have never used the CEAC system to upload any docs. Our email from NVC in response to Inquiry Request back in May stated document submission was not required for this type of case. Since it was not required in the past, it is probably still not required, correct? She just needs to bring the physical documents?
  7. My fiancée raised this question after I already sent her the paperwork, I had not thought of it. "US Citizen" is the first box and obviously makes sense because I am a US Citizen. However, "US National" is maybe more applicable, as I never applied and received my citizenship, but was born in the US. Kind of a confusing question. Technically I am both, maybe it doesn't matter one way or the other. Any thoughts?
  8. Going back to the basics, can I just confirm: this process, the CFO-GCP, happens after the interview, correct?
  9. Thank you so much for that information. Can you answer a few follow up questions, please? -My fiancée is the in the Philippines, is that also where yours was? -We are currently preparing for the interview in two weeks, I am not exactly sure what CFO counselors are and what the CFO-GCP session is, can you explain? -In the event an FBI records check is required, is the petitioner required to get that, and how? -Same question for the CENOMAR.
  10. Beneficiary is bringing a police clearance (NBI police clearance) to the interview. The Petitioner does not also need to provide one, does he? Thank you.
  11. Thank you for the reply. One other question: the NBI police clearance is required for the applicant, but is it required for the petitioner?
  12. We were hearing from some people they weren't sending out Welcome Letters. We filed an inquiry and got our case number, in the CEAC our status is READY. We already set up VAC (biometrics) and the Interview. QUESTION: However, I am now concerned about two things: -Do I need to log into the CEAC? I cannot do so without an invoice number, which is on the Welcome Letter? What if there are instructions there, or I need to upload docs? -Also, what is the K1-FTP she is supposed to bring to the VAC and Interview? Can that just be the status READY page?
  13. How does the beneficiary indicate if they use a nickname for their given name? The option for other names requires you to write other "given" name AND "surname", but in my fiancee's case it is only her "given" name that is the nickname. Her surname is the same. I am left with only three options: write her normal surname in "other surname" and include the nickname; write "none" in "other surname" and include the nickname; or not include this information at all. Neither of these options seems the most ideal! Anyone else have this issue?
