  2. Mind, Aug 6th I sent, and 16th I received a new passport. It had two weekends in between, too. I think expedited service from USPS is pretty fast enough. They scheduled delivery for Sunday, the 17th, but changed it to Saturday, the 16th, in the morning. This is USPS's fastest service. 4. Thanks. TWO weeks. wow. I wonder what they will do with my certificate for two weeks. I am happy that the passport is here, so I can at least move on and pursue SS and DMV tasks tomorrow. Yes, passport service is fast once/after they receive the package.

  6. FYI, You can use Google AI to get the local SS office phone number for booking an appointment. It worked for me. I did not have to go to the SS office and ask for a number or barcode to book an appointment. It saved my trip. I would use similar wording as I did for the search on Google AI. I used the building's full address, which can be acquired from locating the local SS office on the SSA website. If there is only a National Phone number. Copy the local office street address (without typing SS, Social Security), just the address, and search it with Google AI. Exact wording I used on Google AI: "Address local building phone number" Resulted in the National number. So then I asked the second question: "I want local building phone number" Voila.. This might work and might save your trip to SS just for a local phone number. Here is my result. I called and verified my local office phone number for the appointment. It is 100% working and correct number for me. Good luck.
  7. Even though I would like to have my first/new/shiny passport the next day of receiving my naturalisation certificate. Even though I have a genuine travel booked on 30th Aug., Even though going to Agency direct is safer, because you can have your certificate back, because USPS routes have a risk of documents being lost. Even though going to Agency would have saved me from waiting to have my SS updated faster. I applied via USPS. Because the 30th of Aug. was too 9-10 days short from when I sent the package on the 6th, to fulfil the 14-day rule. They received my package on the 12th.

  9. Noob question. After becoming a citizen. Do we have to register with the Selective Service System? I am over 44 years old.
  10. Never heard of this one. You are the first one. Good if they do now. But I doubt. It might be just that your local USPS is very nice.
  11. I had my oath yesterday. FYI regarding the SS auto update matter. The speaker made a special point about automatic SS update. He said: "Even though there is an option in the form to have SS status automatically updated, this is a new system, so do not rely solely on this very new facility provided by USCIS. Once/After you receive your passport and naturalisation certificate back from the passport office, make sure you update your SS at the SSA office". 12. I am checking. So if you selected SS to be updated with the citizenship. Will they send the new SS automatically or still have to visit the SS office? Attending Oath Ceremony tomorrow. 13. Unfortunately, U.S. passport fees cannot be paid with a credit card. Passport application fees must be paid by check or money order only. So much for AI era.
  14. Question. Can I pay passport fees via my Mrs. check? My bank is charging $50 for a chequebook. Can you believe it? BOA
  15. Hopefully, you will hear the good news soon. From my personal experience, I think it all depends on how busy your local Field Office is. The background checks have same set time it takes for everyone assuming all clean record ones same time and all with history same time accordingly. Rest it all about Field Office processing speed. I thought Phoenix FO will be so empty since it is not as populated state as some others. But when I went to interview there were over 40 people in the waiting room. BTW, I love your DP.
