  1. Hello visa community friends, I am after some help again…. I entered the US on 15th September and married my Fiancé on 10th October ( I am a British citizen). Our marriage license has been sent to the city hall ( last Tuesday) and I’m awaiting my marriage certificate copies to arrive. I have a US bank account already. I am wanting advice about my driving license, my husband and I are looking to purchase a car together in the next week or so. My question is, should I await my marriage certificate to avoid having to change my name on my drivers license or should I just get on with the drivers license process. I am in Boston, Massachusetts and will have to do a written exam and a physical test in my own car from what I can gather. I just don’t really want to waste any time as we have a lot to do. if anyone has any tips for someone newly married, changing their name to their spouses name and trying to navigate their first few months in the US I’d be very grateful. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Lesley
  2. I have to have a document check at the embassy straight after my medical
  3. Hi guys, I have my medical for my K1 visa this coming Friday, I’ve just been going through my documents doing a final check and I’ve noticed they want the affidavit and IRS documents with me when I attend. I have the IRS that’s no issue, we have the I 134 document, my question is where does my fiancé submit this completed form and his bank statements? my understanding is that I have a copy of the form with me but he has to submit it somewhere, is that correct? Or are we submitting that at my physical document check? Any help is much appreciated, the document check just says I require the I 134 and the IRS it doesn’t mention his bank statements or proof of pension etc. Many thanks Lesley
  4. If that's NOA2 ? 14th March
  5. Thanks for this I'll try to sort out payment. I just find it so complicated!! It's really not easy to follow at all. For you info the rules have changed about booking medical first. I rang up last week and was told I can't book the medical until I have a date for my interview/ interview booked. This is a recent change.
  6. Hi team, So my anxiety is on overdrive, as usual. My case was updated to ready yesterday (28th May 2025). It now talks about scheduling my appointment if I haven't already. But I have to wait for my letter? Am I right in hoping that my letter will land in the next week and that it will explain what I have to do? This process is far too clunky, surely there's an easy way? Anyway, if anyone has recent experience, please share. I don't like the unknown. Thanks Lesley
  7. Argh I'll chill out and wait for this then... I'll just request the SAR and ask GP for medical print out... And wait (I'm getting good at waiting.. 😂)
  8. Thank you for all this info... I have a print out from my GP but it's a couple of years old so I'll request an upto date one! I'm thinking of scheduling my medical now... Do you think it will matter if there are several weeks between my medical and my interview. Is it ok to book my medical while my application is in transit stage from the NVC to embassy?
  9. It's free to do so I'll do it now.. thank you for this. I just don't want anything to delay getting to be with my man!
  10. Hello forum friends, I'm finding the K1 visa process really difficult to follow and I think I need some help. Our current situation is that yesterday we received our case number from the NVC and the letter telling us that our case was being sent to the London embassy. On checking out case number it shows " in transit". Last night I completed and submitted our DS160. My question is what is next? I don't want to inadvertently delay anything. My understanding is that I need to pay my application fee (approx £200) and for this we require an invoice number. Yesterday we sent an inquiry form to the NVC requesting our invoice number but I'm not sure if this is correct? Am I right in thinking I need to pay the fee before I can book my medical & interview? I feel a better way of doing this would be some instructions on the NVC welcome letter, explaining what to do next. For info I have a print out of my up to date vaccines and I am in possession of my police certificate. Any help is appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
