Not a huge deal, but I am hoping I can visit my relatives later this year. Might get advance parole earlier, but I read about people now having to wait up to 7 hours upon return to the US with that as it needs to get ok'd from several higher ups and missing their connecting flight etc. which would not be great. Maybe not the norm though, I don't know.

Fingers crossed for approvals soon without interview! Tax season is here as well and filing MFJ was certainly interesting with foreign income (before moving to US) and foreign bank account. Lots to consider, luckily found a tax professional with experience in that area after the first one screwed it up 🫠

Luckily for me driving here is mostly the same as in Austria, just a bunch of small differences. I recommend downloading a drivers test app on your phone (mine on android is literally called 'Drivers Test'), on the one I got you can set the state you're in, do practice tests and it explains why the answer is right/wrong. I like studying by doing practice test questions, I did the same for the GED. I passed the road test too now, I only looked up youtube videos about what to expect and they explain it well, though obviously I've had a good amount of practice with 4 months of driving in the US.

I got my physical and went to the dmv to apply, but did not expect to do the knowledge test right then and there! Luckily I got enough right, was psyching myself out on a few questions tho 😅 Overall getting a license here is pretty straightforward, in my home country it takes way longer and costs like 2k nowadays...

I just got the approval for my I-765 roughly 2 1/2 weeks after biometrics, block IOE09286. I read it could be approved within 1-2 months but didn't really believe it, thanks for the nice surprise USCIS 😄 I also needed it to prove my immigration status by beginning of March to stay eligible for the PA health insurance (I-485 receipt notice wasn't enough for them), so glad that's done even if no combo card.

I have read that I-765 may get approved quicker without also filing I-131, but I still wanted to get it as there is no way to know how long the green card will take. Then again some people never get Advance Parole and get the green card first so who knows 😑 I'm just glad my K-1 application was approved quickly and I can wait here with my wife and daughter, I planned for around a year long wait for the green card.

Sadly no, hoping to get it within a few months. Fingers crossed for a combo card so I can visit my home country before starting a job while waiting for the green card. I've seen that AOS from K1 took like 3-6 months in 2024, but also that processing times are increasing again? I don't know what to believe, we'll see.

That was also the case for me, it changed pretty much right after the biometrics appointment was finished. Now all that's left to do is wait... and get a driver's license in the meantime. Luckily I can use my foreign license in PA for up to a year to bridge the gap, has to be difficult in other states without that.

I can confirm that, my biometrics appointment the past week was for both I-485 and I-765, I read that it's normal for the I-131 not to be included. Hope you guys get an appointment soon, it sucks that it's so unpredictable. Then again you might get approved before people who had biometrics earlier, who knows?

Update in case someone else would like to know about this topic: The county courthouse in PA advised me not to do the self-uniting marriage as I am not a U.S. citizen, so we got married in front of the judge. It all went pretty smoothly and we're happy that we went this route. Thanks again for everyone's input.
