  1. When I follow the links I get lost in the weeds as it starts talking about "my spouse" and "their children". Plus my son is over 21, so by USCIS standards not "a child". Sigh
  2. I found this about them coming into USA while waiting for I-130. So this does not apply ? Can my child come to the United States to live while the visa petition is pending? If you are a U.S. citizen, once you file Form I-130, your child is eligible to apply for a nonimmigrant K-4 visa. This will entitle him or her to come to the United States to live and work or go to school while the visa petition is pending. To petition for this benefit, you may file Form I-129F. However, you are not required to file Form I-129F and your child does not require a K-4 visa. Your child may wait abroad for immigrant visa processing. Seeking a K-4 visa can be a method for him or her to come to the United States more quickly. For more information, see the “K3-K4 Visa” page. If you are a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) and you have filed Form I-130 for your child on or before December 21, 2000, your child may be eligible for the V visa classification if more than three years have passed since the I-130 was filed. For more information on V visas, see the V Nonimmigrant Visas page. For more information, visit the Adjustment of Status within the United States page and Consular Processing overseas page.
  3. Thank you for your response, Crazy Cat. That's my confusion - his legal status. No, he's in Canada. I've been diving around various threads in VJ and in .gov sites and came across that one thread that talked about doing both if he was here. I just didn't see how that would work if it's supposed to take 10 years. I will drive around some more and see if I can find it again. I saw that there are only 23,000 visas for this F1 group and many more for every other group like 100,000 more for one other. I don't see the sense in any of this . I think I also saw the employment visas were moving along much more swiftly. What is a parent to do to bring our family back together again. ??
  4. Good day all. I've been reading the guides etc for bringing my adult son into the USA after becoming a naturalized citizen myself last year. I am very sad to see that this process could take up to 10 years or longer ? I found a thread differentiating between adult son/daughter that are already here ?? I believe it said that they file a I-485 for a green card and I file the I-130 as his sponsor. I can't seem to find more confirmation of this process. Can anyone shed further light on this ? Can He be in the USA living and working while we wait the 10+ years ? Thanks so much,
  5. I thought I put an update. Sorry. Got a letter mid Aug approx that my oath ceremony is in mid October. Good luck.
  6. Hi again Case status update Aug 6. (interview was Jun 11 where I was told I was approved but I was sent to quality review) Oath ceremony was mailed. Checked docs online. USCIS N-445 is a 4 page doc telling you what to bring, to dress appropriately and instructions on how to answer the questions on page 3 & 4. My actual oath ceremony is scheduled for Oct 17 in Eugene OR. 4 1/2 hour drive. I guess better than Portland which would be at least double that. Good Luck !
  7. I changed my name to my new married name 12 years ago when we got married. No other name changes. No other docs pending. Its been six weeks now since my interview when I was told I was approved. No change in status. No oath ceremony date/letter. sigh
  8. No... I have not received my oath notice. Still stuck in the land of "quality review".
  9. Your case is being reviewed....along with their process. It is normal procedure. Anything odd about your case? Nothing odd. Fiance visa to green card. 10 yr green card expiring this year. Decided to apply for citizenship. Still married to same person. Been in USA total of 12 years now. Easy interview. Interviewer said I was approved and would be receiving my oath ceremony date shortly. Then the notification that my file sent for quality review.
  10. June 24, 2024 Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number IOxxxxxxxxxxx, be approved. On June 24, 2024, your case was submitted for quality review. This is a standard process we use to ensure the quality of our decisions. Once our quality review is done you will be scheduled for an oath ceremony. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. So I'm approved ? But not approved and stuck ? Why does an internal review of their processes and people cause a delay of my application ? My interview date was June 11th. IO told me I was approved and I would be receiving oath ceremony letter next. sigh
  11. My status has been updated to "Case was submitted for Quality Review based on an approval recommendation". I see others who were approved at their interview and received oath ceremony date. WTH ? It goes on to say "this is a standard process we use to ensure the quality of our decisions" Thoughts ??
  12. March online app. Scheduled for interview June 11. Processing by Portland Oregon field office (7 hours away), but interview scheduled at Medford library location (3 1/2 hrs away). Sworn in. Confirm basic info like name/address/birthdate etc. Answer civics questions first. I believe six. I got them correct and he stopped asking questions. Read one sentence. Write one sentence. More N400 app questions/confirms and signing (mainly security questions like have you ever committed crimes etc). Sign that I understand what is required at oath ceremony (what you are swearing to uphold). Told I passed and a letter will be issued scheduling the oath ceremony. He did advise that after oath my green card is surrendered and a certificate issued for citizenship. Then I am free to register to vote, apply for US passport. etc. Very cordial. Not intimidating at all. 20-30 minutes. I had all original docs with me that were submitted online. He did not ask to see any original evidence. Good luck !
  13. Hi all. Filed on-line Mar 28. Marriage based green card from 2012. Received a receipt (Form I-797C Notice of Action) and "reuse of biometrics" within a couple of days of application. Notice Date May 9th they have scheduled my interview for June 11. I am an Oregon filer. I am in southern Oregon. The Portland Field Office is working my file. My interview is in the Medford Jackson County Library (2 1/2 hrs away). Better than Portland which is about 6-7 hours away. They list items to bring in the letter. The items that apply to me are: the interview letter green card passport marriage cert spouse birth cert originals of docs that I submitted online to support my N400 application Good luck to all !
  14. Did the tax transcript add. What is a combo interview ?
