  1. hi can i suggest?

if u want to use ur married name in ur AP and EAD, you can include photocopy of your marriage certificate

Hm is it certified one or just photocopy of the certificate?

    just photocopy :)

Excuse me, marriage certificate does it mean the commemorate record, not the legal record (marriage license) ?

You want the legal marriage certificate. In some states the license and certificate are on the same page. In some they are not. It's the marriage certificate you get back with the County Clerk's stamp that you photocopy. If you don't have it yet, wait until you have it to file.

    Ok great, thanks

I simply call it marriage license instead of certificate, yeah we had the judge return it to the county and i just got some certified copies yesterday!

Pedantry is pretty useful in this process. What is asked for and what you are providing is a marriage certificate. That it is also a marriage license is irrelevant. You get the marriage license before the marriage. The license proves nothing until an officiant signs it saying they married you. Then, for immigration purposes, it becomes a marriage certificate. Immigration has no purpose for a marriage license.

Oh ok, cool and thanks for the information! :)

  4. Dear all

I read I-485 instruction/ AOS instruction. It requires evidence (point no 1) as to criminal record. it mentions that we have to provide evidence, if we have commited crime/convicted commiting a crime.

So, if I am not in that category, does it mean I do not have to submit the police record/clearance that I submitted when I went to K-1 interview (resubmit the same thing again)? If so, do they want the certified copy or will the copy suffice?

Pls help and thanks a lot in advance!

  5. Dear all

I am confused by name change procedure. It is simply because we're goin to file for AOS. I am goin to take my husband's last name. I heard that to change name it means we have to do it by legal paper. Since I do not do this legal procedure, will it be ok if I just fill in the forms with my married name, in spite the fact that I do not file anything for name change?

And also, for applying SSN, is it ok if I apply it with my married name, even tho I do not do legal process for the name change? Will it suffice just by bringing the marriage license to the SSN office in order to get a card with my married name?

I will really appreciate it for anyone's help on this

    Cheers

If you changed your name through marriage, you dont have to anything else to change your name.

Your legal name is your married name, and it should be used when applying for AOS and SSN. You may be asked to show your marriage certificate in addition to your password for ID.

Thanks a lot, that's quite clear, Now I can fill out my married name without confusion in AOS applications

    :)

  7. It doesnt have to be the DS-3025 does it? Will it be ok for me just to bring the vaccination card to the local civil surgeon here? Will it suffice as a base for them to issue the I-693a?

No it doesn't have to be the DS-3025. Practically NONE of us have that! Yep just bring the vacinnation card to the local civil surgeon, that's all they need. That's what we did, and they issued the necessary vaccination supplement I-693A with no problem.

Thanks, anyways how much did the transfer cost you? :)

  8. If you did complete all vaccinations back in Indonesia before you had the K-1 interview, you CAN leave all medical info out of the AOS application and have a chance of getting approved without an RFE. However, if you are not sure, I recomend you to have your medical info (from your vaccination record in Indonesia) transfered to a I-693A.

In my case I was in the same situation as you are in right now, I didn't have a DS-3025, but I did complete all my vaccinations before I had my K-1 interview in Germany. I didn't send ANY medical info with my AOS application and got approved without RFE or interview.

On the other hand I also heard stories of people that did the same as i did and got a RFE or interview where they asked for the DS-3025 or I-693A.

I say it all depends on who is taking care of you application and if they are in a good mood or not. I was lucky...

    Hope this helps.

I got 5 vaccinations, yet I am not sure if I am categorised as complete or not. They were Influenze, hepa, MMR, tetanus, and polio.

    What did you get anyways?

I would suggest trying to get a copy of the DS-3025 from where you had your medical. Maybe a family member or relative back in Indonesia could assist you.

Anyways I contacted the clinic but they wouln't give me the DS-3025 that I requested since they said the US embassy didn't allow them to.

    Any insight?

  9. Hello

I am going to file AOS and in the middle of confusion. I read many posts on getting the vaccination record transferred, which the way is basically just bring your DS-3025 to a designated US Civil surgeon to get the I-693A issued for you.

But the thing is I dont even have the DS-3025 with me.

    What should I do?

I will be very happy if you could give me some advice

    Thanks

  10. I'm applying for employment authorization at the same time. Does that one also not require a SSN?

You need employment authorization to get the SSN not vice versa

You still get a number before you have employment authorization. How do they link the two (your employment authorization and your SSN) if you don't give them a SSN when you apply?

You cannot get a SSN unless you are eligible.... With a few minor exceptions, work authorization is the only reason you can get a SSN. The link is called the SAVE system. The SAVE system is how the SSA verifies your immigration status and thus your employemnt authorization or not.

SSN's are issued for life.... A person who entered the USA on a J-1 visa was eligible and then could apply and receive a SSN... Subsequently that person decided to get married and file the I-485 to adjust there status... They HAVE a SSN to put on the form.... This however is not always the situation.

    Fwaguy

I just want to have another confirmation pls. So in other words... We gotta wait for our EAD being approved before applying for the SSN?

  11. No specific reason is required... You essentially could put any reason and it does affect the result....

so will it still be ok if i just fill out the actual reason?

    thanks a lot fwaguy

Does it really matter if we pick option "multiple trips" other than single trip only fwaguy?

  12. SSN not required for AOS

If you have the DS-3025 why do you want to transcribe? Did you receive additional vaccinations not previously recorded?

I do not have the DS 3025 with me, someone told me they the US embassy enclosed it in the brown envelope. Does it mean I already got the DS 3025 and doesnt necessarily need to enclose anymore vaccination record? I will stil enclose the vaccin card copy though.

    Thanks a lot

  13. Hello

I am goin to file AOS altogether with AP, reason for the AP itself is that we're goin for a honeymoon to Europe, will that reason be good enough? If not, What am I supposed to fill in the reason part? Have you ever been in the same situation with me? Id be happy if you can give me an insight

    Thanks a lot
