  1. Hi everyone!

just a quick question, we have just received our AOS interview letter and one of the items they ask us to bring with us is the documentation establishing my eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident.

I'm assuming this means all my NOAS and also marriage certificate, ect. I entered the country on the VWP.

Can anyone out there shed some light please?

    Hi!

Marriage certificate it is. You should probably also bring evidence you have that when youentered US undr WWP you didn`t have intent to immigrate cus thats making yo uneligible I think.

    Good luck!

    Thanks so much!

I have my lease from the UK, letters from my previous employer in the UK stating I had a contract with them until the end of the academic year. I entered the US in December 07 and the lease for my apartment was valid until Sept 08 the same with my job in the UK, I worked in education and we get our contracts renewed every academic year, also the fact I was unable to get married when I entered since I was in the middle of divorce process, also i have my bank account still open in the UK and my belongings are all there with my friends... Would that be enough proof?

Perhaps, but it would depend on the plausibility of your story that accompanies the evidence. In relation to your most recent US entry, when did you decide to marry?

He asked me to marry him after I entered the country. In fact it was right before I was about to go back to the UK. It was far too hard to be apart, emotional hardship as they call it.

How long had you been here when he proposed?

Around a month. In fact he proposed at the airport. I could not take the flight and decided to go back home and change the flight since I still had a few days off available before i had to go back to work. On the way back we thought about asking an immigration paralegal about our case and that is when they advised us that my status could be adjusted after he proposed. They also said it would be hard since I would not be able to leave the country or work, etc for a long time, but we were willing to go through all the hard steps just so we could be together.

Sorry I meant that my status could be adjusted after we got married. Again, it was tough since I was unable to get married and had to wait for the final divorce papers to go through before we were able to marry. There was no intention of marriage when I crossed the port of entry.

The story sounds good to me. I'd bring any evidence of the "hardship" like the correspondence with your jobe and landlord etc.

Deciding to marry one month after beginning a visit will bring extra scrutiny but it sounds like you can deal with it.

    Thanks so much

  7. Hello Everyone,

I havent heard anything on my AOS after getting EAD. I am worried..

We have almost the exact same timelines and I haven't heard anything either. We're not the only ones, but it sure is disappointing isn't it? :(

Yeah we havent heard anything since the EAD either, no touches no nothing! Sucks but at least we have something to show for the waiting with the EAD and AP stuff!

Same in here no touches on my AOS since the beginning of April... At least I have the EAD, passed my driving test a while ago too and finally I have found a job to keep me entertained ;-) I'm all set for now.

Congratulations to all of you guys who got good news and I wish a speedy process to all those who are still waiting for their EAD and AP.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!!

  8. TO ALL MARCH FILERS:

Just thought it would be great to start with the thread for all AOS March filers. We will submit our AOS application on Monday (March3). So, with all the rest who are filing this March come and sign up! Good luck to all MARCH FILERS!

Did you send pics and proofs of the relationship when you sent the AOS? I was wondering if that makes it go any faster.

    thanks

I know someone who did that and they had the green card in 2 months with an interview in NYC.

I included bona fide documents, pictures, written affidavits, bills in both names, etc and still waiting. No touches on my AOS since the beginning of April.

Quick Question...when you apply for a Social after you have the EAD, is there anything written on the social like only valid with DHS authorization??

That is what mine says. Once you get the green card I believe you have to go to the Social Security office to get that changed.

On another note congratulations on the approvals. And good luck to the rest of us!!!!

  9. First of all Congratulations to all of you who are getting AOS approved, EAD and AP as well as iterview notices, I'm very happy for you all.

I haven't had any touches o my AOS since April, so I guess my file is collecting dust somewhere. At least I have my EAD and AP now and today I passed my driving test so it is all pretty cool! It will definitely make things much easier!

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

  10. Hey Guys,

I still haven't heard anything on my case I am trying to be patient but Im starting to get really worried that I probably wont get approved. Its been a month almost two since my EAD was last touched and exactly a month yesturday since they updated my AOS regarding the RFE that I sent back! I profusely check my email everyday and as soon as I see the maill man put the mail in the mailbox I ran to it, dissapointed theres nothing important in there

Im in serious need of some enlightenment and Im turning to my fellow VJers!! :(

should I call Customer Service to find out whats going on??

Don't you worry! I'm pretty sure you'll get some good news soon.

I had a look at your timelime and it seems your Biometrics appointment was done at the end of April. Mine was at the end of March and I got approved at the beginning of May, so maybe since yours was a month later you will get approve very very soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! GOOD LUCK!

  11. Hey Guys,

Im a bit depress!! I don't know whats going on with my case!! I havent heard anything about my EAD since it's been last touched on 4/17/2008 it's been a month and some odd days. I'm trying to be patient but I'm getting superr anxious as to when I'm gonna get approved and there's always that little part of me that wonder if am going to get deny...because I overstayed for a year n a half on my B2 visa! Am so tempted to call customer service but I know they won't be much help so thats why I am turning to you guys for a little en-lightenment! :(

Just be patient. You applied at the end of March and got RFE which might have caused some delays in your case. Also your Biometrics were taken a month ago. I would say give it a few more days and if you haven't heard anything about your EAD or AP after 90 days of applying I would make an infopass.

On another note CONGRATULATIONS to everybody who got good news!

  12. My EAD was touched again yesterday. I wodNer why. I already received my AP and EAD in the mail. What does it mean?

Thanks NANA for the timeline updates but can you please add I received my AP on the 6th May?

Congratulations to everybody who received good new and have a great weekend guys! :star:

Same here.... My I-485 was touched and it made me happy, but later I found out that my AP was touched as well.... I have know idea what is going on there as I have EAD and AP in my hands  .. so let's see what it will bring

It is pretty bizarre if you ask me... I got the AP and EAD in the mail last week but they touched my EAD yesterday. Maybe they were just updating the fact that the card was sent. God knows....

  13. OOOOH HOOO!!! Just got back from the DMV, I passed my written test with flying colours! I'm so happy! :dancing:

That's awesome unforgettablefire! So, you took the test only 6 days after receiving you EAD. That's great! I've read somewhere that some people were going on the next couple of days after receiving the EAD and they didn't let them have the test because they were not in the S.A.V.E. system. (whatever that is  ) That's cool!

    Congratulations

I got my SS number the day I got my EAD card. I was lucky I was verified in the system and I just went to pick up the number the day after. And then I just went to the DMV to apply for my State ID and Driver's ID, I didn't want to take the test the same day because I had other errands to run and what not... But all along it has been a quite painless process I hope it continues and I wish everybody the best of luck!

That's good, I can't wait! What ID documents did you take to DMV unforgettablefire?

    Thanks

I took all my NOAs (just in case) my passport, my ss number and my EAD card. They only asked for the EAD and my SS number. Hope this helps!!

  14. OOOOH HOOO!!! Just got back from the DMV, I passed my written test with flying colours! I'm so happy! :dancing:

That is really good score! I hope i do as well as that when I get my driving test sorted out. I am hoping to take it sometime next week :star:

Congratulations guys!!! same here in Florida only 6 mistakes... I did 6 mistakes in my writing test back in December when I got my learner's permit  ... but on driving got 100%... and now I am driving 2 months already.. thanks God Florida is more liberal with Fiance visa... Guys it is so great to drive... don't worry as I am sure all of you pass.... first i was scared to drive on high way... but now I am OK... still need more practice with parking  yesterday went to change my last name is SSN.. didn't have any problems with that... they promised to send new SSN card by next Thirsday... today went to recruiting agency for interview and they told me that with my skills they will find a job for me very quick what is great, as we need more cash, so we can buy a car for me (Toyota hybrid- my dream) and save some money for vacations.... still no touches with I-485... but it is Ok as I have EAD mow, and anyway I am sure I will get green card very soon :) Good luck everyone with all their plans :)
