  1. I didn't know that there was a 90 day processing time for the AOS applications/Green Card. I was told that the green card process can take 12-18 months (Thats the time frame my attorneys gave me). I was seeing that other people here on VJ were getting approved way earlier than that...so thats why I have been looking into it. How would I got about doing that?

You should call USCIS and contact your congressman. Your application has passed over the processing time (90 days previously).

  2. Thank you for the information. I will definately check it out. I didnt realize that this type of service was available. I guess I've been out of the loop lately. I just found out recently that people can call too. Kind of embarassing. I feel like Im at a breaking point these days. I was also curious if the type of green card being applied for would make a difference? For example I have seen in some peoples status 2 year GC and others have applied for a 10 year GC to begin with...

It is an appointment where you can meet with a USCIS employee face-to-face (sometimes more helpful than calling). Doesn't have a fee.

  3. My case was filed in Novemver and transfered to the CSC in Feb (5 months ago now) and we're still waiting. It has been 8 months total. I check my stats online and it still has not changed from Initial Review. It's extremely frustraiting. Especially when you see people whom have filed after you and have their GC in their hand already (no offence to anyone who has theirs, I'm very happy for you). I think it all has to do with whom is reviewing your case. Overall, you should be happy. It's great news :) Even if it ends up being a longer time frame, I find no interview and hopes of a faster processing time comforting.

  4. Hey all,

My AOS application was sent in to the USCIS in Oct '09, they sent the whole package back to me (a week after we had submitted it)once because the payment couldnt be processed, we sent it back in and shortly after I got a receipt that my cheques had been cashed. Directly after that the USCIS sent me a notice requesting more information. Everything was sent back in asap. The date on my notice shows The USCIS received everything and begun processing in November. Total (from november until now) it has been 8 months. I Went for my biometrics in Jan, and Got another notice in Feb (5 months ago now) that my case was transfered to the CSC. In the mean time I got my AP, EAD and SSN. I check my case status online and it still says the exact same thing. So I went to check the CSC processing times last month and it said Sept 14 '09 (for the cases they are working on), this month it changed to/says 6 months. So if it changed from sept '09 to 6 months shouldnt that mean (since my application was submitted in Nov) that I should be getting my Approval letter/Green Card soon? Im a little bit confused. Anyone experiencing something similar. I know I have posted similar threads to this in the past, but I feel more comfortable adding my updates to see if it changes anything...If that makes and sense? lol. Thanks in advance for any help.

  5. That's not too bad, I was thinking it would cost more than that...is there anything else that I would need?

    You're welcome.

He will need to contact a Ford dealer, they will request it - there is a charge - around $100.

  6. Im in a similar position. I actually just posted my topic regarding this today. It's been almost two months for me since my case was transferred to the CSC. It's been about 6 months total since I filed (NOV). I have my EAD, AP& SSN, but not even an interview notice for the GC. I was told if it was transferred to the CSC it usually means faster processing and no interwiew. Yet, I'm still waiting. We all are. I think that's about all we can do...and hope for the best. Good Luck!

  7. thank you for your help! How does one go about getting a letter of compliance? I believe the car is 1997-1999 Ford Sable or Mecury. Or would my dad (the owner have something like that when he purchased the car?)

I'm going to move your topic from Working and Travelling to the Canada forum. There are tons of threads there on this subject if you do a search. Also at the top of the forum is a pinned topic - Canada Immigration Guide - links there to info as well.

Basically - if it is a U.S. or Canadian made car all you need is a letter of compliance from the manufacturer, when you cross back over the border, present it and say you would like to import your car.

  8. Hey all,

I'm finally beginning to plan a trip to visit my parents in Canada around mid May(I have received my AP, EAD AND SSN, just waiting on my GC now). I was wondering what it's like leaving the US, and re-entering once the vacation is done? I will be flying to Buffalo NY where my parents would pick me up at the air port and drive over thr boreder (it will aslo be the same thing on the way back)... unless my husband and I choose to drive. The only way we would be driving back is if my husband and I buy my dad's car. He has been looking to sell it for a while now. Since my husband and I need a car it would be the perfect solution for us and my parents. The only thing is I know nothing about bringing a car to the US and what kind of documentation I would be needing? or if there are any fees? or if it would pose a problem at the border? (my dad's car is paid off, great condition and passed all testing for smog, oil and etc.) If I can get the information needed down, it would be extremely helpful.

    Sincerely, C&N

  9. Hey all,

I recently got my EAD in the mail, and went to apply for an SSN today so that I can begin hunting for jobs. The lady at the SSN office filled everything in on her computer for me, and was going to process the SSN for me today. She had me look it over, and re-entered the information. Finally she told me that she got a prompt that the Department of Homeland Security had to okay/validate the application. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same situation? I was suppose to apply for an SSN with my EAD right?

    Sincerely, C&N

  10. You won't get an interview and it is possible that your case will be approved faster.

I've been hearing that alot. I hope being approved faster turns out to be true. Either way, I would be just as happy (interview or not) it's the waiting and suspense that is making me anxious. I believe that I may have said that earlier or something along the lines of it would take a load off if it went through without an interview.

  11. I don't think it was a good idea for JT to flip and vote out Cirie, but we shall see.

And Coach really needs to toughen up. He was never really a Villain. He should be on the "delusional" team.

ha ha ha, could you imagine telling people "I'm on the Delusional team"? See I'm the oppostie. I think that JT flipping was a good idea, because Cirie is a sneaky player. She lays low and takes everything in. Which isn't such a bad thing. She has admitted thats it's her stragety because people forget about her and end up voting someone else off. We shall see! I really wanted the Villians to loose. I'm not a fan of Sandra or Parvarti.

  12. Never understood the appeal of the show. Looks like people with egos playing dumb games on an island to win popularity points.

I enjoy watching the challenges, the people and their egos make it more fun to watch :P

  13. I can't believe that the Villians won, once again... my hubby, mother-in-law and I were talking about how some of the people on the heroes side should be with the villians, and some of the villians should be on the heroes because they have softened up. They way James is playing this season he should be on the villians side, but the heroes will need his strength so they can start winning challenges.
