  1. How did you get to talk to an actual person? everytime I call I get this automated system. Its kind of frustraiting!

I called and they put in inquiry because ( and their website is correct) our petition has not been looked at at all since March when we did biometrics and received ead and ap - their were no updates, notes, look at's nothing since then.

she did a inquiry as we are out of normal processing times (4 mos) - got a ref number - but is 45 days - but think she was amazed at the "nothing" done since march

  2. wow! we're definately not too far off from each other at all. Csc received our case on Feb 24, and our touch was march 4. Im going to be calling again this week as well. Let me know how it goes for you! best of luck :)

we are in the same boat with you guys. Our last touch was 03/10/10. I am calling on monday We have been transferred since " On February 18, 2010, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action"

  3. I'm not quite sure I applied for Advance Parole, and EAD with my AOS application. If I were in your position I wouldnt chance travelling with only proof of approval. I would either wait until I got my GC or I would apply for AP. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck!

I am exactly in the same situation guys. My package was transfered to California begining of January 2010.

I am nervous cause I want to go on vacation to Spain in August but cannot plan anything without the approval

    (I think).

Does anybody knows if I could travel if I have an appoval but not the card itself or if I can apply for

the Advance Parole if I do not travel for emergency reasons? By the way is it really around 350$ to apply

    for this parole?

Thanks and let hope we'll have all good news soon (and hopefuly no interview requested).

  4. My touch was in March... I wasn't aware of new green cards coming out though...it could be one of the many possibilities as to why the cases that have been in processing longer are taking longer than the new cases that have been submitted... if that makes any sense at all?

We have everything BUT the GC.. they need to hurry up. The last touch on our case was 5/12 ironically the same day the "new" green cards came out.. ugggh

  5. It seems like everyone has a different answer from the person they spoke with at the CSC in regards to their case. Good thing I didnt break down and make an infopass appointment. The closest one is over an hour away from me, and currently I dont have a way of getting there. I was willing to suck it up and make one if push came to shove though. Thanks for your help!

I called USCIS and asked about infopass. The lady told me that because I have a notice that my case was transferred to California office,

I cannot go to Philadelphia office (where I live) for infopass. She told me that the only thing I can do is to write a letter

to California office to inquire about my case.

I did it... now it's the same waiting game.

  6. That does not make sense. At the bottom of my transfer notice (im not sure if all are the same) it said the reason for my case being transfered was to speed processing time up. Im still waiting though. I have heard pros and cons in regards to an info pass. I was considering making one, but the nearest office is too far away. At the moment Im hoping to be able to talk to an actual person at the CSC. So I can inquire about what is going on. best of luck to you! Thank you for sharing you experience :)

Hey folks... I am in the same boat as all of you. I was transfered to the CSC in mid-January and nothing so far.

So I gave the USCIS a call and this is what they told me:

For family-based AOS, they are not suppose to transfer your case. It should be done locally with an interview.

    * I think this is a lie because of course there are many with transfered cases that already got GCs.

The normal processing time window for local field office Memphis is 4 months.

    * Being transfered in mid-January and it now being July, we are outside the window of normal processing time.

    * The guy started a reference case to investigate the status of our case and said we will be contacted within 45 days with something (which I think is too long).

    * He said doing an InfoPass wasn't neccessary.

I just hope doing this doesn't screw up our GC process... especially if our case gets transfered back to Memphis when it was almost done.

  7. When I called the USCIS number at the bottom of my transfer notice, I was told my case is being processed. And that I would have to wait 180 days from the date of my transfer notice for an update. It didnt make sense, Im in the process of trying to contact and speak with an actual person. I would recommend calling or an making an info pass appointment as well. The only reason why I am unable to make an infopass is because the office is over an hour away, and at this time I do not have a way of getting there.

    Hi to all,

My AOS is over 6 mos now and it was transferred to CSC,after 6 mos there was an update but for 3 days but still on initial review. What am gonna do now?i never tried to contact them and ask what's going on?

  8. I got that exact same response when I called yesterday. Sofar it has only been 118 days since my case has been transferred. I havnt heard of anyone hearing that response before. Atleast Im not the only one. My attorneys say that an AOS application doesnt always require an interview (regardless of where you case is being processed) so hopefully you'll luck out Amanda&Tony...and not get an interview :) Good Luck to you!

We were transferred to CSC back in January. I called USCIS at the beginning of last week and was told to call back after 180 days. On Friday we were transferred to our local office.I'm now guessing we'll be having an interview. Hopefully it will be over soon.

  9. I just got off of the phone with the CSC and it gave me the same information that I already have access to by using their website. The only thing mentioned differently was: to wait 180 days from the date of my AOS transfer before inquiring about my case...I dont understand, has anyone else come across this problem? Like I said it has been well over 180 days since the USCIS received my case...But it has only been 118 since it has been transferred. I just dont get why the cases that have been at the CSC as long as mine are not being processed yet, when they are approving others that have been there 4 months and under. Im so frustraited.

I'm finally going to call the CSC today to request an update on my AOS application. My AOS got transferred to them in Feb, and has not been looked at since March 4. Counting November when my case was received by the USCIS...It has been a total of 8 months now (5 since it was transferred), and my status still states "initial review". I'm extremely nervous, but Im tired of waiting and want to know what is going on. I will keep ya'll posted on how it goes. Wish me luck!

  11. I definately sympathize (sp?) with you. Hopefully those of us who have been waiting for so long, will hear something soon.

Today is Day 140 for us. Stuck in CSC limbo.

What is disappointing is that whether an application is transferred apparently depends on how overloaded one's local office is, not because of anything relating to the merits/circumstances of an individual application. I believe that AOS applications should be handled on a national basis, with every application going into the same queue to await processing in its turn. My wife and I shouldn't be penalized because we happened to reside in Atlanta at the time we filed.

  12. How does one find out the information on how to contact their congressman...if calling and an infopass doesnt work out (or if you cant get to a infopass location)?

Im on the same boat and we just recently wrote our congressman to inquire about it on behalf of us and we're currently waiting for answers. Its a hassle for us to schedule an infopass because the closest office to us is 2 1/2hours away..calling them didnt really helped us. I guess we'll just keep our fingers crossed that our congressman can do something about it.

  13. I've heard pros and cons to both. So what I am going to do is call first and if I dont get through (within a reasonable amount of time) or get the answers that I'm looking for...then I'm going to book an infopass appointment (as the place closest to me is about an hour away or so). I just hope that inquiring about my case wont cause any issues to make the processing longer... ya know? Let me know how it goes for you :)

Just checked the USCIS website, which has a link to processing times each center. It was saying 6 months processing time for I-485 at the CSC for the past month or so (was 5 months for a while before it was 6). Now it says 4 months!!!!! Apparently the chart was updated on June 16th. Which means whether we go by filing date or transfer date (Jan 27 and Feb 18th for ours) then we are officially outside of processing time.

So for the "classification or basis for filing" in the chart, the only listing for 1-485 is "employment based adjustment applications." I'm guessing since this is the only listing they have at the CSC for the i-485 that they also mean K-1 adjustments as well?????

So, anyone know if calling USCIS is worthwhile, or should we just go straight to the infopass appointment?

  14. I got married in July '09, and sent everything in to the USCIS in October '09. I ended up getting an RFE, and by the time things were sent back in to the USCIS by my attorney's it was November. My I-94 expired in October '09 , and other than feeling that my AOS application is taking forever (its been 5 months now since my case was transferred to CSC). My notices were on time (until now), I went for my biometrics, and my EAD, AP, and SSN were issued to me. My time line for filing for AOS wasn't as long as yours, but I wouldnt think that it would be a problem. Best of luck to you.

Due to finacial isssues, we are now applying for AOS after 14 months of getting married I know it's a dumb thing to due. but we are worried there is going to be a problem as we are so late applying. I got married within the 90 days on the K1. Question is, as were applying for the AOS 16 months after we married, is this going to cause a major issue? My I-94 date ran out 18 April 2009.

    Thanks

  15. I'm finding comfort in knowing that there are others out there going through the same thing as me (Although we applied in Nov, and it got transferred to CSC in Feb) I dont feel so alone anymore, or thinking that I filed something wrong...ya know? Im not sure when a case would be considered outside of processing times, I will keep an eye out. I do recall seeing 3 months somewhere, but the way it was worded it sounded more like the 90 day time line that you have from when you are married to file for AOS. Please let me know if you happen across a "outside processing time" date.

We're with you. We applied late January, transferred to CSC in Feb and nothing. If you sort the timelines by date filed and only transferred applications, looks like most of the apps from mid-January to mid February have had nothing approved, and but lots of apps after that are approved. Very frustrating that they don't go in order. We wouldn't have minded an interview - we would have had the green card months ago.

I'm wondering when we should do something about it - Anybody know if we have to wait 6 months after applying or after the transfer date before it's considered outside of processing times?

  16. My case was transfered to the CSC in Feb (5 months ago) and I have not heard from the USCIS since. I also have the same status of "initial review". My attorneys assured me that it can take this amount of time for an AOS application to be processed. I hope that I will be hearing something soon. Since there are people who have applied after us, and have a changed status or are recieving their GC before us...I plan on calling to check on my case since the closest infopass location to me is over an hour away. Hang in there. Best of Luck to you.

My case was transferred to California Service center 6 months ago, but havent heard from USCIS since.

Case status on line is still "initial review", It's been 9months total since I submitted my application.

    Is this normal?

  17. I hear ya! I've been waiting since my case got transferred to the CSC in Feb. I was told to make an infopass appointment, or call to see what is going on... Im more irritated at the fact that people who have applied way after I have, already have theirs. No fault of theirs, but seriously the CSC should be working on the cases that got there first.

I know other people are in the same boat. It has been almost 6 months since I started AOS and almost 4 months since my case got transferred to CSC. They really need to figure out what is going on at their offices because this is getting ridiculous.

  18. My case was transfered to the CSC in Feb, and Im still waiting. My status still says initial review as well. I was told that at times this long can be normal, and that it all depends on the volume of cases they receive. Im just hoping for the best! At this time Im looking into calling/making an infopass appointment. Good luck to you!

    Hi,

I was just wandering.... Our case was transferred on January the 15th (a month after it was received by the Chicago Office) to the California Service Center. It is almost 6 months now and when we check on the USCIS site, it says it is being initially reviewed.

When a case is transferred to the CSC it is supposed to be approved faster.

Any comments? We're freaking out a little bit here..... ;0)
