My husband received his green card in the mail today!

My husband just called to let me know his letter came today...he is approved!

If you have Insurance for health, car or home with both of you names on them, include these as well.

To address your specific questions though...

1. Shouldn't be a problem, but like simel1110 said, sending things that show you both get bills at the same address might help.

2. We did not send marriage cert. or any passport copies as they aren't required.

3. We used those Post-it diver tabs (they are like a see-through + a color at the end that you write on) things to separate the sections.

For #3, you don't HAVE to send your stuff the first day of the 90 day window. When I've ordered transcripts from the IRS, they usually take about 7-10days, so if you want to include them, I'd wait till they get there.

Our 90 day window opened on Feb 11th and we actually sent it on the 23rd.

i didn't remember how many statements i sent. Oh, i see a regular envelop inside it. so it meant i only send rental agreement? because it can't hold many documents inside standard envelope. I just found 8 pages of rental agreement.

From what I understand (I've never gotten an RFE), and someone please correct me if I am wrong, you don't have to use the envelope they provide. You can use a larger full size envelope that will fit more evidence than a regular size one.

I also agree with MarieB, they are looking for things that have both you and your spouse showing the same address - copies of both Driver License/State ID with same address, if you already sent bank statements from joint account send more, same with joint credit card statements...if you already sent some send more. Send the rental agreement. Like I posted before, get tax transcripts from the IRS (these are better proof than W2s and copies of tax return).

If you have any cards or letters sent to both of you at the same address from friends/family or things like that...this is secondary evidence but might help.

Hi, as I mentioned before i'm afraid the company might see this as an issue and not give him the job because of it. I hope there's a way of the company knowing of the extention just with his green card number.

I'm not sure how it works as far as a company being able to access USCIS info with someone's A#, but I would rather be safe and just have him bring the NOA with him to his second interview so they can make a copy of it for his file if they need to.

My husband is currently employed and according to his GC, it expires May 11. We are just keeping his NOA extension letter handy in case it becomes a problem so he can give them a copy if they need it.

Your hubby will just have to explain to them that he has filed the paperwork necessary to get the 10 year green card, show the extension letter showing the current one expires next year, and say he will provide a copy of the 10 year GC upon receiving it.

Edited to add - if this company really wants to hire him (and it seems they do since he got a 2nd interview), they will make sure to get from him the info they need so they can hire him.

He did get the NOA1 extending his GC for 1 year, yes? If so, just have him bring that with him so they can make a copy of it to keep on file if they need to.

Thank you for the info, I think I will do that. But just to let you know, you normally get a response for your application, like 30 days after your biometrics appoint. At least that was my case. So if my calculations are right you should get your response by May 08, or very close to that date. Please let me know how it went with you application, this especially after you sent the affidavit from your husband mom.

We got the NOA1 and the the biometrics, which my husband did on April 8th. VSC is way far behind CSC right now in processing. We filed quite close to the end of February and there are already some CSC filers who have been approved who sent their stuff same time as we did...there are ZERO VSC approvals for February so far. Hopefully they catch up soon, but we're trying to be patient

Adding to what Gary said about "Get an affidavit from the person you live with"...

My husband and I live with my mom in her house - we have no utility bills or any lease or rental agreement. We had my mom write/sign an affidavit stating we live with her as a couple and have done so since Rob entered the country on his K-1 visa and that we pay X amount of rent to her each month. We then attached print outs from our joint checking acct online showing the deposited checks we wrote her, some signed by me, some by him to show we both used the account and were both responsible for paying rent.

So far, no RFE - though we filed at VSC and I'm not holding my breath

I know we must be patient, but really it's hard to believe the difference between the 2 Service Centers.

I hope VSC picks up the pace soon, not for our sake since I know we really haven't been waiting that long, but for those who are still waiting while those who filed at the same time as them (and even after!) are getting approvals just because they had the "privilege" of filing at CSC

Made the mistake to look at the Jan filer thread...50% of their CSC filers have been approved already and I think 2% of their VSC have been.

We left it as it was, I didn't even realize it was #A instead of A# until you pointed it out! I just went back to my file and saw.

I really don't think it matters, I can't see it being a problem if you change it. They should know what it means either way.

The affidavit is just a statement by people that know you and your spouse as a married couple. You can find an example http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples under the Lifting of Conditions (I-751) Related Forms. There is no "official" affidavit form from USCIS.

They aren't required for removing conditions, but can be helpful if you lack a good amount of primary evidence.

As a personal example, we sent several affidavits...

One from my mother with whom we live since we do not have joint utilities because it is her house and we do not have a formal rental/lease agreement and we also attached copies of the rent checks we gave her from our bank account online after she deposited them showing we both actively use the account and both of us participate in paying rent.

One from my brother/sis-in-law who flew to Las Vegas with us and were present and witnesses to our marriage and who we spend a lot of time with hanging out.

And one from my best friend who is basically the reason my husband and I met, so she has known us both before we were even a couple. We also stayed with her for a week where she lives in TX and has seen us as a married couple.

We do not have any joint credit cards, loans, no joint car insurance (though we are both listed on the title for one of our cars) so we felt sending the affidavits would only add to our case.

Oh and I should note, we only included affidavits because we don't have any joint utilities since we live with my mom. We also don't have any joint credit cards or anything like that, so we felt it would only boost our evidence to include the affidavits.

It doesn't matter if you send it two weeks after the 90day window, just as long as it is sent within the 90 days. I wouldn't wait too close to the end though.

You said you don't have a driver license... my husband doesn't either yet, but he did get a State ID. Then I just made a photocopy of my driver license and his state ID next to each other to show we lived at the same address.

I am not 100% sure, but like I said...since the I-751 instructions say the purpose of the form is for the conditional resident to petition to remove conditions, I can only assume that it only applies to the foreign spouse and not the USC.
