I put None and left the following spots blank as in the example. (going on the assumption that the person going over the application would have the common sense that if you answer "none" the rest of the questions would automatically not apply)
Probably not a good idea to fold the forms, I sent mine flat.

I've already been getting things situated. Ordered my IRS transcripts today and getting with my HR guy today or tomorrow to get the letter secured. Also going to fill out the form and start organizing the information for the 'ongoing' relationship.
Also in regards to shipping. I sent my USPS overnight and it ran me only 14dollars and it automatically comes with a tracking number.
I've started doing all that too, I ordered my transcripts last week. lol I am wondering how much it's going to cost to send this huge pile of papers over to the UK. I've got months and months of several page phone bills printed out and I'll be printing out more up till closer to the date of the interview.
The other day my mom told me that it was hard for her to get excited for me because she thinks for some reason that by the time I'm done with all this paperwork I won't feel the same about my fiance
If anything, it's making me realize how much I actually do love him! oiiii

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!
I hope we did things right....we are sending it on Feb 28th ...any advice regarding the best way to send the package so it doesnt get lost? How do we know it actually got there? Somebody filing in Vermont too????
i sent mine to VSC overnight express mail with return receipt requested.
It cost me $21.65
with the express mail there's an automatic tracking number included so you can track it and make sure it gets there

ahhh I just checked my bank account and the check was deposited.
But I can't read the numbers and all that stuff on the back of the check. The image that is in my bank website is really ####### quality :/
Anyone wanna help me figure it out? lol
Mine was almost impossible to read, also. If you can see any of them...the number you want should be sideways on the check in the endorsement area. It should be the last line of printing in that area (at least mine was, from CSC). Mine started with three letters and it doesn't label it as a tracking number or account number or anything, it's just a random string of numbers.
When I saw mine, I just pulled all of the strings of numbers and randomly put them into USCIS' website until one worked!
yeah i can where it is but the image is so pixelated i can't make out some of the letters and numbers lol
oh well, hopefully the hard copy doesn't take too much longer to get here

Newark, Delaware?
My wife is from thereabouts.
She is one of the few of her family who have travelled much out of state.
So somepeople like it.
Newark, NJ lol
i imagine a big difference in the general atmosphere of the 2 places
Delaware is pretty nice from what i could tell from the times I've been there

Looked around but couldnt find the answer to this...
my fiance was looking over it last night and there is a part where it asks:
Country to be visited: …………………………………… UK Departure date: dd / mm / yyyy.
He would put USA for the country, but at the time he's filing this application he will not know the departure date. He wouldn't really know that until he get his visa and then books his flight...

woot got his paperwork!!! going through it and overnighting it tonight.. <cheer>
woohoo!!

All this house talk is depressing the hell out of me. I just found out TODAY that there is NO WAY I can afford to stay in the house I currently own. It's a 70's 4-bdr bi-level in less than prime condition and would sell for $400,000 minimum here in NJ. And if it does sell, I'd see no profit. The real problem is, rent for a two-bedroom apartment here isn't much cheaper! It would be me and my two girls, ages 9 and 11, and soon a new husband in an 800 (if we are lucky) sq. ft. place. Gah. And did I mentnion that my ex-husband screwed up my finances so much that no landlord would dare approve my application??
My only option is to move in my with my parents. But, the town they live in had the equivalent of inner-city schools. The last thing I want is to sent them to school there! Moving out of NJ isn't an option. I depend on my parents for childcare.
So yeah, moving in with the folks at age 40. Great way to start a new marriage. But you do what you have to , I suppose.
I'm from NJ too and in a bit of the same boat as you. I currently live with my mom and 2 brothers and we all help take care of my dad who's got a degenerative brain disease. We dont have the money to be able to put him in a home cause my mom would lose his SS payments and not be able to pay the mortgage. One of my brothers is moving out in spring with his gf so we'll lose his income too. All in all we're most likely gonna have to sell the house we have lived in for 27 years and move somewhere...but we dont know where. My mom's salary isn't great so it's probably gonna be impossible to get another house in the area we currently live in, but she probably wouldn't be able to get any better of a job than she has now.
It plain SUCKS. Plus I have NO clue where my fiance & I will be living when he gets here. I can't afford my own place on my salary unless we were to move to somewhere around Newark and I really don't want to do that.
As you said, you do what you have to, but blah...it's depressing
I really feel for you in this situation

Question about the Police Certificates...
on the application it says:
Country to be visited: …………………………………… UK Departure date: dd / mm / yyyy.
What if, at the time you are filling out this application, you do not know the departure date?

well one of his packages finally arrived (cute gift.. i want to kiss him for it) still waiting to see what the mail yields. as for air fares.. i'm hopeful but not going to hold my breath. It would have to drop quite a bit to be able to do it but we shall see.
Yeah...airfare is crazy right now! We're looking at having him come down to visit in April and it's like $100 more than it was last time he came down to visit, in October. And we keep looking at moving costs and thinking "do we see each other now or do we save for moving and the wedding later."
Speaking of weddings, what is everyone doing? We both want the big church wedding, so we're going to have a civil ceremony when the visa is approved and then plan a religious ceremony. (I'm sorry if this is personal information...I keep distracting myself from the waiting and anxiety by wedding planning...it helps because it's something I can micro-manage.)
We're getting married in Vegas in a rockabilly/50s themed wedding. Both of us are pretty into that vintage lifestyle and it suits our personalities. Right now I'm passing time looking for the PERFECT dress

Well i'm still waitng to see if his stuff turns up today to send out. Unfortunately found out I probably won't have the extra funds to make my trip there in June to visit <sigh> Hopefully the app goes through fast then.
My bf is in the UK too
I hope you're able to send out your packet soon!
-
I finally got my stuff all sent out this morning. I went across the street to the PO from work yesterday and then when the doors were locked, realized it was President's Day
Soo I just walked back over this morning and Express Mailed the packet.
Now all I do is wait with fingers crossed that everything goes okay! B)

I used Staples REGAL (paper) CLIPS. You can get a box of 100 for a buck 50.
yeah I have everything paperclipped in sections where they belong, i also got some of those heavy duty clips...the kind that you squeeze opened and then put the "wings" down to hold it
I just wanted to make everything easier so whomever it is at the VSC doesn't have to do the hole punching on my papers. I don't think it's necessary to do it, but since I have an extra I figured why not
-
For those of you who have either used ACCO fasteners or punched the 2 holes in the papers before sending your packet...I have read the guides for assembly and went out to Staples tonight to get an ACCO hole puncher.
I got there and this was the only 2 hole puncher they had http://tinyurl.com/2u3ms6
I stood there for about 20 mins staring at all the hole punches they had, but none were "ACCO" brand. Then I picked up the Swingline one and apparently they are made by ACCO...
My question is, is that the type of hole punch I need?
I realize this question is probably really lame, but I really don't want to screw up the papers beforehand. I'd like to make it a bit easier for the VSC person going over my case, not harder.
I just want to know if I should go ahead and use this hole puncher or not punch any holes at all.
Thanks in advance, I'm just sort of at that point where I'm freaking over the tiny details before I send everything out.
I actually wanted to get my stuff out today but when I walked across the street to the PO from work, I realized it was a holiday lol.
My brain is mush at this point

I'll hopefully be getting my fiance's stuff by Thursday or Friday of this week so I'll be sending our packet out to VSC on Friday or Saturday.
Good luck to us all!
Random question, is it ok to send it via USPS or should I be using FedEx?
And something else I just thought of - HOW should I send everything? Like can I just paperclip my papers together and his papers together and put them in one of those big envelopes or are there specifics on how to do it
Don't send it Fedex or UPS. There is anecdotal evidence that they're much better equipped to handle USPS over anything else, and you could experience a slight delay as your UPS/Fedex package moves through whatever non-USPS internal route it has to take. Send it USPS certified with return receipt requested.
With regards to assembling your packet, read here. It's under the guides section, General Assembly tips.
Thank you!
Everyone here has been insanely helpful, I'm so glad I was told about VJ. It really has made everything so much less stressful

Totally unrelated - my fiance wants to know this, so if you know the answer that would be awesome!
One of the required shots he has to get is for Chicken Pox and it says that is unavailable in the UK. Is this necessary for getting approved or since it's not available in the UK does it not matter? He's just trying to get an idea of how much money he's gonna need for it all.
We were wondering the same thing...
hey I'm from NJ too!
andddd i read your timeline & my fiance was here over christmas as well

To be pedantic UK isn't a country it is a union of countries. The country of residence in this case is England.
Not of course that the yanks at the Embassy, NVC or elsewhere would know the difference
lol that was what I thought, which is what caused me to ask
He is a British citizen (that's what UK passports say for nationality) who lives in England.
UK or England I would think are both acceptable answers to put on the form.
In view of what Krikit has said UK seems to be what they want.
Thanks!

Hey everyone!
I'm new, this is my very first post so I am really sorry if it's been asked before. I'm just trying to get the form filled out correctly and this has been bugging me ever since I first started looking over the forms.
My fiance is from England, but in the spot where it says (State or Country) or just "Country of Citizenship", do I put England or do I put United Kingdom?
In 2 of the spaces, "United Kingdom" doesn't fit and leaves that little black "+" icon in the corner...so I'm just confused.
Any help would be appreciated!
I've been following the example form on this site (which I must say - VJ is like a godsend!, my stress level has gone down sooo much since signing up and reading everyone's experiences) and another thing I was wondering about is the thing where it asks if your fiance is currently in the US, they arrived as: etc...
would I put N/A? or would I write that he is not in the US at this time...
xoxo

Affidavit of support! I need help!
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
My fiance isn't from Mexico, but I think I can answer your question about the I-134 affidavit of support form.
That form will be taken with you to the interview. Your fiance (the USC) has to fill it out and have it notartized and then send it to you.
Your fiance will need a co-sponsor if he makes less than [125% x poverty level for household size] which for 2008 can be found here http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/08poverty.shtml
(if i'm wrong about that part someone else can correct me, i'm just at the beginning of the whole process myself but all this is what i understand to be correct)
