I know i'm a bit late, but Congrats KPC!
mrsjeffs, at our interview, I took our whole album of more than 300 pictures and he did look through them and was nice enough to ask me if he could take some to add to the file before just ripping them out. He probably took around 5 or 6 out.
If you have any others of you together with any friends or family or even you 2 at a different time than just the wedding that might be good to bring too
Edited to Add - I meant to say also Rob got his welcome letter yesterday in the mail, hopefully the card will follow quickly
-
woohoo!
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: Card production ordered.
On May 11, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.
I guess the PO redelivered Rob's stuff today and just like the guy said as soon as he got the medical he would approve it that day
KPC I hope they get back to your file quickly, hopefully you'll have good news soon!
-
yeah i am hoping they will attempt to redeliver
i just found it strange they'd try to deliver on a saturday before most businesses are even opened.
im just praying that the packet gets where its supposed to because i paid a lot to have it sent express
also i hope everyone who is still waiting on any type of information gets it soon! im praying for all of you

All went well, Rob had no reaction to the TB test so no xray needed.
Only thing that bugs me now is yesterday we sent off the RFE sheet we were given at interview along with the sealed envelope for the medical and I put in the affidavit from my mom saying we live with her and pay rent (which i inadvertently forgot to bring to the interview). Put everything in an Express Mail envelope and the lady at the PO said it would be the same price for next day (Saturday) delivery as for Monday delivery with signature required, so I said Saturday sounded good. I thought maybe someone might be there today since some offices are opened on Saturdays (Rob had his biometrics on a Saturday).
I just entered the tracking # and this is what I see:
Label/Receipt Number: EH18 3121 381U S
Status: Notice Left
We attempted to deliver your item at 6:49 AM on May 9, 2009 in NEWARK, NJ 07102 and a notice was left. You may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice, go to www.usps.com/redelivery, or call 800-ASK-USPS to arrange for redelivery. If this item is unclaimed after five days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
Like I said...I thought someone might be there today, but highly doubtful anyone is going to be there before 9AM on a Saturday.
I hope they are able to re-deliver on Monday with no problems. If I get that envelope back I am going to be pretty angry

Rob had his 2nd medical today, we were in and out in like 30 mins and most of that was sitting in the waiting room for the doctor to call him in. He got blood taken and the TB test and that was it, then we go back on Thursday evening to get the TB test read and get the results of the blood tests back to see if he needs anymore injections. All that for $250 plus extra if he needs anymore shots or an xray
congrats map1map and marryme!

Congrats!
I was just at Newark yesterday

It looks like it went very well Sarah, don't think you need to worry further. As for the medical exam, make sure you discuss with whomever you decide to choose and clarify all aspects straight at the beginning. Some of these USCIS approved physicians are so full of themselves! Get the list approved by USCIS and look them up. You're pretty close to the finish line!
Congrats guys!
Thanks!
I just called up one from the list and the woman I spoke to was much nicer than the one I spoke to last time I called to see about getting his DS3025 transcribed
I explained to her what happened and she seemed like she really knew what she was talking about. She went over everything with me, they gave a decent price so I'm pleased. Hopefully everything else goes smoothly.
Oh yeah and the IO also gave us the instructions for lifting conditions and an envelope to send the EAD card back to him in
-
We just got back from the interview. It was at 11:30, we got there around 11 and were called in a bit after 12.
The IO was a young guy probably in his 20s or early 30s. He asked me how we met, what Rob's parents names were, if I'd ever met them before. He asked Rob his birthday, my birthday, our address and then asked the same questions from the paperwork about being a terrorist and all that. He asked if we had anything with both our names on it so I gave him our cell phone bill with both our names, our joint savings account paperwork and the form I filled out at work when I added Rob to my health insurance. I apparently had misplaced the affidavit my mom signed and got notarized because it wasnt in any of the folders I had with me even though I was sure I'd put it in there, but the IO said it was ok I didn't have it because everything looked good.
He gave us an RFE for the medical because apparently the medical info from England that Rob handed in at the airport never got put in our file
So now with the rest of the day I have to call around to civil surgeons and get prices for the full medical exam and send that back to him within 30 days.
He said that everything is perfect except the medical being missing and that as soon as he gets the envelope and everything checks out with that he will approve the file that day!
So hopefully we can get an appointment quickly and send that all off to him ASAP.
-
thank you and i will definitely post with the results after our interview tomorrow. it is at 11:30am EST
-
map1map, it sounds like everything went ok, but I guess you can never really tell with USCIS. I hope that you get good news sooner than later, I will be praying for you
When they took your pictures, do they keep them?
Because I have a photo album that I am bringing tomorrow to our interview and some of the pictures in there are my only copy of the professional pictures from the wedding chapel in Las Vegas (and cost me an arm and a leg for the 20 4x6" prints they took which is why I only have 1 copy each of those).
Should I remove those from the album? Or should I try to make copies at CVS or something (even though it says you aren't allowed to
)

sarah_n_robbie, mymee, good luck at the interviews! We're so close to it, I feel I'm gonna puke any moment now:)
today is the first day i've felt really nervous
i have a feeling things will be fine, and i'm probably nervous over nothing, but still it is nerve wracking!
good luck on yours tomorrow, i'll be thinking of you!

I am planning on wearing the same thing except i was gonna wear pumps
Hubby is gonna wear nice pants and shirt but the twist is he wants to wear his converse
.
He thinks its ok because when we got married he wore converse!! What do u guys think??
I guess you could ask him like metinil said...would he wear his converse to a job interview?
My husband is going to wear the suit he got for my dad's funeral because he wants to look professional
I still have no clue what I'm wearing, but I may have to go shopping lol
-
I wore black pants, a button up collared shirt, and closed toed flats. I normally wear jeans and a t-shirt/tank top. My hubby also wore nice pants and a shirt.
I saw people wearing jeans, crop-tops (midriff baring), and other things I thought were totally inappropriate. I would suggest wearing something similar to what you'd wear to a job interview. Dress to impress.
I figured it probably wasn't necessary to dress nicely, but also figured it'd probably help to show you were taking this whole thing seriously
thanks for the input
-
I know this may be a stupid question, but I've been wondering...
What should one wear to the interview?
Does it matter or should we wear something smart?
When my husband had his interview for the K-1 in London, he wore dress pants and a button down collared shirt even though his normal way to dress is a black tshirt and jeans with a studded belt and some converse chucks hi-tops

For a household of 2, the 2009 poverty level x 125% is $18212.50
If you make more than that, you should be fine...but if you want to have your brother co-sponsor just in case, you can.
-
Ah, thats's true if you are doing an I-130 as well...
I'm not sure what it is that makes you have to file the I-130 if you have already filed the I-129F?
My husband came on K-1 and we filed AOS before the I-94 expired so as far as I know we did not need to file an I-130 in conjunction with the AOS paperwork.
If you ARE NOT filing the I-130, then only the immigrant does the G-325A
-
It's true, only the immigrant fills out the G-325A this time around.
-
I'm making assumptions... I think that if there was anything missing (ie. different medical forms) from your application they would have sent you an RFE. I'm pretty sure that if they request something you can't show they will ask you to produce it (RFE) at a later date. This may prolong the process, but at least your hubby can already work, right?
I wasn't asked for my medical at my interview.
Don't know if that helps, but I tried! Good luck!
Thanks!
Those were my assumptions too, that they would've sent an RFE before giving us the interview date...
I guess we will just prepare as best as we can and if they need a new medical or whatever we will do it then.
And yes, at least he can work now! He doesn't have a "real" job yet, but the past few days he has been helping my brother at the hardware store he manages by putting together barbecue grills and patio furniture sets and helping on deliveries. It's nothing permanent, but at least he is getting some money and not feeling so bored and useless
-
I have a question about the interview....
On the letter with the interview date, in the checklist of things it says to bring it says the I-693 (unless already submitted)
when we sent our paperwork, we didn't send in an I-693, we sent in a copy of the DS-3025 with a letter stating that the necessary paperwork should have been included in the sealed envelope turned in at POE and that if further evidence was needed, we would send it in.
We never got an RFE for the I-693, so assumed that all the proper paperwork was received.
Now I am worried that they will ask for one at the interview. Also with it coming up on being nearly a year since my husband's medical was done in London (June 30, 2008), I'm afraid if we contact a civil surgeon they will refuse to transcribe his vaccination chart without doing a full medical. When I had begun calling around to the ones in the area when we were initially compiling the paperwork for AOS in November of last year, they were basically refusing to only transcribe at that point as well and were very reluctantly giving me prices of like $100US for transcribing.
I know about Dr Arnold and know many people have gone that route and not had problems, but I'm still wary of doing that.
My husband does not have a job yet and we don't have the money this month to pay for a full medical again or even only getting his DS-3025 transcribed at the prices if I find someone here to do it.
What do you think we should do?
ETA: also...if we go to the interview without it, and they ask for it...would they give us an RFE at that point to go and get it transcribed?
-
I-485, I-765, I-131
Yes you have to send another G-325A just for your foreign spouse because it's a requirement to the I-485
Yes you have to file another Affidavit of Support, the I-864
and as far as I know you do not have to file the I-130...I didn't and we have our GC interview on the 29th
ETA - the $1010 is for the 485, 765 & 131, since the G325A is part of the I-485 there is no extra filing fee for that
-
congrats mrsjeffs on getting your interview letter!
and congrats Roselinda for the welcome letter
-
I received an email today dated Friday stating card production has been ordered for Benny's green card.
Congrats to you & Benny!
and thank you theonlyjess
-
Hey everyone, it has been a looong time since I've checked in here due to my dad getting sick in Feb and passing away 2 weeks ago.
Congrats to those of you who have been approved for your GCs! I read back a few pages and was happy to see the big fat approvals
My hubby & I have our interview at the end of this month and we really don't have that many joint bills or whatever to show. We currently live with my mom and pay her rent, but there's no official lease agreement and there are no bills for utilities in our names.
Should I have her write up a letter stating that we are living with her and paying her $xxx.xx per month and have her get it notarized?
Also, we have a joint savings account and we each have our own checking accounts. We have cell phones on a family plan, but its only in my name.
He's also on my work health insurance, but each of us have our own cards with our own names on them...I'm guessing I could get paperwork from my boss if need be showing that he's added under my insurance.
What other types of things should we have?
So sorry to hear about your Dad!
I think you should get the letter from your Mom as you mentioned. Take all the other things you said. We only had a lease, cell phone family plan, joint gym membership, and car insurance (it didn't actually show that it was joint, but I explained that they were linked)... Do you have photos? Letters addressed to both of you?
Thank you very much.
Now that you mention it, I do believe we have cards from my family from our small engagement/birthday party that have both our names on it. I will dig those out and put them in with our wedding photo album as a back up.
