  1. I have no first-hand knowledge to back up this possibility, but how plausible is it that there might be detectors at the booth that sniffed out some kind of powder residue from the car? Probably less likely considering the arms were cased and it had been over a year, but who knows...

  2. My wife lives in Toronto (for only 6 more days!!! :D:dance: ) while I'm in Rochester, so I've visited nearly every other weekend, and I've had no problems telling them I was visiting my wife for the weekend. They often asked how I had a wife in Canada, and I'd just say that she was a Canadian citizen applying to move to the US. Outside of the normal are-you-bringing-anything-illegal-into-the-country questions, they'd then let me through without incident.

  3. POE --> Green card = 27 days for Yvo -- it arrived today. :)

(unless she's trolling the forums, I don't think she knows yet; I'm gonna surprise her with it when I go back up to bring her back -- she can use the actual green card instead of the passport visa. :))

  4. Have you every checked your credit report?

It is possible that your credit card was never reported to the credit bureau?

If you never contacted the bank that issued your card and provided them with your social security number when you got it, the card's history was never associated with you. I don't know enough about it, though, to know if your card's past history will link back up with you if you tell them about it now, or if your history starts at the time of notification.

  5. I got a postcard today from Rochester, NY! Thanks Pauley and Yvonne!! :D

    Welcomez! :D

Incidentally, the note I put on there about Rochester's shortest snow season ever is now no longer true. Rochester had no snow measurable snow at all in November '09, March '10 and the first few weeks of April '10, and we'd thought we had a new city record, until we got .2" of snow Tuesday morning. Our record 90-day snow season just got lengthened to 148, and is now substantially less interesting. :P

  6. I must admit that I'm really pulling for Phoenix.

Between the Avs and the Coyotes, Hugglebuggles has now doomed two teams to first-round playoff elimination. Excellent work.

(As a Sabres fan, can I have you root for the Bruins in the next series? Thanks... ;))

  7. Yeah, I'm a little slow in getting mine in the mail... it's going out tonight, promise! :)

...and by "tonight" last Friday, I meant yesterday afternoon, on Monday. :P But it's on its way!

  8. Sorry for your loss Pauley.

It only stings for a few days Pauley :P I'm almost over our loss... almost.

How about Montreal tonight eh? I wasn't expecting that.

Truth be told, I'm not surprised. Hard to expect good things from a team that went 0-for-series on power plays.

Nice work by Montreal, keeping the Caps honest. I agree, it's hard to see the regular season winners being forced into game 7 in the first series...

  9. Pauley...I see you're from Rochester. That is where my fiance lives. I will be moving there sometime this year!

Awesome! Stay in touch -- I know one other couple in the Rochester area (who've been married too long to have been on LJ, to my knowledge); we can all share war stories over coffee after you move. :)

  10. We are getting married Thursday as planned. :) His famly starts arriving today, with more coming each day this week! I will definately post some pics. We should have plenty. We have a photographer, videographer, and Sean's sister is taking pics as well.

    Yaye! Congradjamalations! :D

Your posts about Sean's POE were some of the first I saw here on the boards when I started actively posting in the Canada forum. Best of luck and good wishes to your clan! :)

  11. I know one of my gfs in the states swears by a product to keep her white clothes white. I think it's called Oxyclean.

I could check with her if you want...

HI! BILLY MAYS HERE WITH OXYCLEAN!!!

FWIW, You can be reasonably sure you can see commercials for it on YouTube. :P

  12. My wife and I never had a honeymoon when we got married last year. So instead, we're planning on doing Christmas in the Virgin Islands this year. Should be fun. :)

Yvonne and I had a sorta-honeymoon, having stayed in Niagara-on-the-Lake for a week after we got married outside St. Catharines, though we'd been in NOTL before. Right after she moves (12 days!), we're going to spend 6 days in California, for some relaxation before she has to start work. :)

  13. After Yvonne finishes moving in two weeks, we're taking an extended weekend to fly from Rochester to San Diego for a few days, including some beach lounging, then driving up the coast to LA for some shopping and then flying back from LA to Rochester. Pauley's leaving the Eastern time zone for the first time. :P

  14. Hey! Yes we will be living in NY but only because my fiance is in the military, so it won't be for more than a year.

From the links I provided earlier:

Section 250 (5) of the Vehicle and Traffic Law defines the term "resident." The law defines a resident as a person who lives in NYS with the intent to make NYS a "fixed and permanent" place to live. To live in a house, a home, an apartment, a room or other similar place in NYS for 90 days is considered "presumptive evidence" that you are a resident of NYS. A police officer can use this evidence as the reason to issue a traffic ticket if you drive in NYS without a driver license or vehicle registration issued by NYS.

It also notes that students from out of state are typically exempt from the residency and license/registration requirements, but makes no statement about people in the military or their families. On the surface, given only what's listed on the web site, I'd still say you'd need to get a NYS license within 30 days of moving to Fort Drum, but I'd consider calling NYSDMV and asking about your specific situation.
