It's all obviously a ploy by the lotion industry to increase sales.
I understand if there is religious reasoning, I guess... but otherwise, WHY? And we should encourage people to use CONDOMS (and bathing), not rely on something that does not provide anywhere near 100% protection of STDs.

Things that happen today are absolutely directly influenced by the past. The War on Terror and the Cold War do not exist on separate planes; rather, our policies of containment and the Afghan War in the eighties directly affect the course of history today. Who trained Osama? The US. Same thing with Reagan's economic policies.

And are they better off than they were 10, 20, 30 years ago?
And when people still tout Reaganomics as a viable economic plan, you can certainly look to policies that were set in motion 25 years ago. Do I personally benefit from a lack of capital gains taxes, etc.? Yes. Do I also understand that for the good of the country it's not a good idea for 1% of the country to control 40% of the wealth, and that things such as education and health are far more important to our country's future than corporations like GE not paying taxes and pharmaceutical companies posting record profits? Yes.

If it had failed... no one would have known about it. I am sure there have been tons of attempts at bin Laden, etc. that the general public and even Congress have not been privy to.

Well Paul (I am assuming you're Paul and not Vanessa?), let's pretend you were born gay. And you were in love with Victor, and Victor was from Canada. You were totally sure you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him, and buy a house together and get a cute dog and adopt some kids. You wanted to bring him to the US so you could start your life together. Well, no K-1 visa for you, or K-3, or CR-1.
It's not "something personal." It's every time you step out of the house and into the heteronormative world. As someone straight and cisgendered, you've simply just never had to think about it.

I'm not sure where you got Planned Parenthood from religion and sex, but Planned Parenthood does a lot more than provide birth control. It is mainly women's healthcare provider, which in fact means that it ENSURES the fertility of American women by treating issues that affect fertility, such as PCOS, HPV, and many others. It provides gynelogical checkups to women on a sliding scale fee, and for a large segment of women, especially young women--those whose wombs will be needed for childbearing, the only thing about women that many politicians seem to value--it is the ONLY place where they can get absolutely essential preventative care, since the rest of the health system is so messed up.
Men, too, utilize the services of Planned Parenthood. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/men-4285.htm Do you support, say, prostate and colon cancer screenings for men who cannot afford to see a physician otherwise? HIV testing? Hell, they'll even cure your jock itch for you. If they were not able to receive preventative care at an affordable cost at PP, then they would have to turn to what? Medicaid? Bankruptcy to pay for medical bills? And then the government would have pay a whole lot more.
I just wish that people would actually look at what the organization they're criticizing actually does before making decisions that can have drastic impacts on peoples' lives.

Heaven forbid we lower teen pregnancy and STD rates by advocating a balanced approach to sexual health and making sure that if teenagers are going to be having sex (and they will), that they go about in the safest, healthiest way possible. We can't have THAT. Yes, preserving abstinence-only sex "education" is certainly a top priority.
I don't see why sexual practices would be a part of a course on understanding the history of homosexuality in America. You can learn about Stonewall and Harvey Milk and ACT UP and why they are/were significant without needing a diagram of how gay sex works. Do you go into Albert Einstein's numerous extramarital affairs when discussing the Theory of Relativity?

But you want to, you know, get legally married and stuff. Which has legal consequences and tax consequences and affords you all kinds of rights as a married couple. When you legalize a union, that takes it out of the bedroom and into the public sphere. If you believed that what is private should stay private, then you wouldn't have anything to do with marriage in the first place. But you want those legal rights and privileges.
Do you introduce your wife/fiancee as your wife/fiancee? Or do you say, "Oh, you don't know me well enough to know if I'm in a relationship or not. That's private." Oh wait, your screenname on this very site has the name of your significant other in it, immediately announcing to all that you are:
    a) straight
    b) in a relationship
    c) engaged to be married and to have your sexual relationship legally recognized by the United States and other governments around the world and will be entitled to all rights and privileges afforded by such a status.

Is it so shocking that men, who are visual creatures, prefer women who keep in good shape, dress nicely, can walk in heels, and know how accentuate their features to maximize their prettiness quotient? It's a no-brainer to me. I'm a feminist, but I'm also a realist. In Russia, I'm practically chubby. When I go home, everyone asks me what my secret is for staying so thin and I'm nearly always the thinnest woman in a store/restaurant/whatever. Young American women do tend to be very lax with their appearance, and I say that as a young American women.
