Hey can you give some info about the car import experience please? I've gotten my letter from the manufacturer which says it meets all standards except standards 101 and 108 which seems acceptable based on the the options on the HS-7 Declaration form. Was yours similar? Also did you pay a fee/import tax?

I kind of lucked out. The person who usually does car imports was not in office so someone was filling in and doing it for the first time.

I did not even pay an import tax but filled out all the forms and was on my way.

    Sorry I’m not more helpful!

Asking in here to double check so I can update the FAQ posted in the Canada forum.

Is Hep A and Hep B now required? For all ages?

Covid still required and must be completed correct?

Yes to HepA/B and for Covid you need to have at least two vaccinations.

Purolator has picked up my passport and my estimated delivery date is tomorrow!

So about 24 hours from issued to passport shipped.

YASSS!!! That's amazing! Even mine that was approved on the spot didn't say issues until I got courier notification haha. Amazing!! CONGRATS!!!

I checked the delivery site and no action yet.

Did you get an email notice from the visa delivery service when it was shipped ?

Oh man!! I'm so sorry you got that! Thankfully it wasn't too surprising though from how you made it sound. I hope this goes quickly and is smooth sailing!! The good news is that she kept the passport!

Yeah it most definitely was not something we concealed or tried to hide! The person infront of me at the same window also got a 221g (white).

But yes hoping the passport being kept is a good sign.

Then nope! You don't need the 5 photos.

Oh wow!! That's so insane that it was changed. But glad you were able to get that confirmed when you got there! Sending all the good vibes!!

221g (White) which we kind of figured might happen. I worked unauthorized on my student visa at 2 summer jobs, this is why we engaged an attorney and verified that unauthorized work was forgiven for the spouse of US citizens. I was honest about it and disclosed it in my work history.  The CO kept my passport and said she wanted to approve my visa but she needed to confirm I didn’t have any ineligibilities.

The whole process was quite quick and I was in and out in about an hour!

Now we wait some more but feel relieved.

Just called my border crossing LOL. The officer was hilarious:

"You need to be seeking admission to the United States. Do NOT tell us you are turning right back around. Go get a drink, go get gas, go to Wal-Mart, but do NOT tell us you are turning right back around. Do you see what I'm saying?" LOL.

She was hilarious. I think I'm just going to save the hassle and do everything at once haha. I'm glad she was funny and nice.

This is so valuable… do you mind sharing your land crossing?

Haha! Yeah! Basically when you get there, you'll see a line up and then a security guard will either call an interview time or ask you for your interview time. They are really nice. Once they confirm your time with you, they bring you inside where you hand your passport to the first person and they check you in. I am sure they would let you in to double check your interview time if you have both conflicting documents. They are very friendly.

I just got an updated interview time as well, my interview date is August 23rd @7:45 but just received an email that my interview time has been changed to 11:30?

    Never seen this before…

    Morning everyone!

I am lucky enough to live right by a land crossing to the US and I'm curious as to if I go across to activate it, can I immediately come back to Canada to complete my packing? I ask because I have a job waiting for me in the US and they would like to get the HR contract and logistics completed ASAP.

Would it cause issues for a customs agent to see that on my file when I fly permanently? I would likely only be in Canada for an additional week max.

    Thanks in advance!!!

A few people have asked this before, myself included. There should not be an issue but there was 1 story about a lady who crossed at 1000 Island and the border officer was very frustrated that she was just crossing for her stamp and returning, so much so that they didn’t stamp her visa which I do not believe is legally allowed.

My attorney has told me to try and get stamped as soon as you receive the visa so I will be doing what you plan to do also.

    I’ll let others chime in.

They asked me for the following:

    my long form birth certificate

    police report

    passport size photo

    marriage certificate

    petitioners W2 and tax return

    petitioners divorce decree

That’s it. But it may vary with the person talking to you. Bring everything  by above and additional stuff you want to bring. Over prepared is way better than under prepared.

Oh forgot I have passport photos!

Yeah I’m trying to go with the over prepared, I’ve known my wife since we were 16 but you never know.

    thanks!

Just got back from the consulate in Montreal and I am happy to say that I have been approved!! Well, we think LOL She said that she "intends to approve the visa" but the system is being slow/is down so she couldn't do it immediately. But I didn't get my passport handed back to me or the 221g handed over. The only paper she gave me was how to track the visa!

My interview was scheduled for 8:30 but I got there at just before 8:10 because my Uber was far faster than I thought it would be. There were about 9 people ahead of me which was weird because they were all waiting for interviews at 9:15! There were two people behind me for 8:30 as well. At 8:15 the security guard asked me what my interview time was and he let me up right away. I walked in, handed the lady my passport, put my things in the X-Ray machine and then put my phone and smartwatch in the locker and headed upstairs.

It took about 10 mins for my number to be called to go to the first window (Window 5) and she confirmed phone numbers and addresses and then asked me for the following documents:

    • 1 Passport photo
    • Police Certificate
    • Birth Certificate
    • Marriage Certificate
    • My husband's divorce decree
    • My husbands 2022 tax return and 2022 W2

She took my finger prints and then she sent me back on my way to the waiting room to wait for my interview. I waited for my interview for about an hour, almos 9:30 AM on the nose was my interview time. Who interview lasted just over 5 minutes. They asked the following:

    • Name of the petitioner
    • What is our relationship
    • Where does he live
    • Where did we meet
    • When did we start dating
    • What made us decide to get married
    • "Tell me about your wedding"
    • Did you read the pamphlet and if I had questions about it

Then she said she intends to approve it. And off I went! All in all pretty painless. My stomach was still in knots throughout the whole thing!

    Very happy for you!!!

Do you mind tagging me when you receive your passport? Curious to how quickly the turn around is.

Glad that this is behind you and wish you all the best!

I am super paranoid about the DS5535 thing too. It's so stressful!

It looks like a lot of individuals get picked up in the EB category along with being from those countries identified as needing extreme vetting.

I’m not holding my breath because none of this process has made sense but that’s what I observed.

We have also uploaded some unsolicited evidence on our profile of recent trips, weddings, flights etc. I’m not sure if it does anything but just trying to bring a mountain of evidence!

Also! Good luck to all of those interviewing this week! Mine is a week from tomorrow - such a long process yet I can't believe interview time is already here! If you're interviewing on the 8th - See you there!!

Good luck! I am super jealous haha, the 23rd is killing me.

Please share if anyone receives a DS5535 form this month!

I don't know if this is going to be a problem but I went to print out the I-94 (travel history to the US) and realized that my latest trip I took to California is not noted on there. Is that going to cause a problem? I'm not sure how that happened seeing as I went through customs. Would this be because I used my Nexus on not my passport? They are connected so you'd think it would show.

Is it even necessary to bring the I-94 with you to the interview?

This is super common, when I applied for a student visa my dad pulled mine and it was missing multiple trips for sports, visiting grandparents, etc. There were even cases where they had me entering the country and never leaving until I reentered months later.

I looked at mine the past few months and it was still very much the same, I travel back and forth 1-2 a month and they hardly have accurate dates.

I do not believe I94 is needed at the interview, if they wanted it, they could get it themselves fairly quickly.
