Any of you guys that go back to Thailand on a semi regular basis to see your fiancee/wife, find that there is an adjustment period for the first few days your back in LOS? That it may take her a period of time to get "re-acquainted". Even though you talk on the phone a few times a day.....
Just curious, I am leaving to go back to Thailand for the 6th time, on 12/3, to see my wife. I've been doing this every 2 1/2 months or so now. (you can see my schedule in my time line below). I may be seeing this pattern....not sure.....
just some thoughts.........
"re acquainted" lol. The quotes make it seem like you're inferring something dirty. Other than the fact she wants to be overly smothering for the first couple of days, it hasn't been any different in my visits. You have to remember that you've each been running your own show for the past X amount of time too, so that change is probably what you're noticing.
hahaha........ just not seeing each other, and BAM, back in each others faces 24/7
yea, that makes sense.....She is strong willed and independent...

K-1 or K-3, you only need the divorce decree, not the previous marriage cert.
This is to prove that your not married now and are able to legally marry in the future (for K-1)
Thank you. Did you test that yourself, or hear it from somewhere?
test it?...
maybe I'm missing your original question...
no its written everywhere and this is my 2nd time through this #######......

Question for divorced guys with a fiancee applying for a K1 visa in Bangkok:
When you provided your divorce decree to the embassy, did you give them the MARRIAGE certificate for that previous marriage as well? Or did you only need the divorce paperwork?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

no problem Mike...here is something from a post I made some time ago. its tongue in cheek but will help you out with the time line thing.
heres how to fix it:
go to the top where it says "my Assistant"....put the little pointy arrow thing on it and click with your index finger.
(thats your point finger, if ya didnt know) good.gif
The second line down say "Edit / Add my Timeline ", please repeat with the little pointy thingy and click on it.
Put your email address in the little box and the little gray button that says, "Add / Edit my Timeline ".
Please repeat with the little arrow pointy thingy
the fourth (4) box down is a drop down box. click on the arrow and select your correct visa type. If you look on the left side, it will even say "Visa Type:" PLEASE choose the right one and alllllll the way down at the bottom,
click with the little pointy thingy on submit changes

I'm in Yuma, Arizona.
Next time you get to Thailand jump on an Air Asia flight to Kota Kinabalu on Borneo (you will probably have to fly through KL first) and climb Mt. Kinabalu. The climbing fee is not outrageous, but you are required to hire a mountain guide. The total vertical climb (from base camp to summit) is about 2/3 the vertical distance of Everest (from base camp to summit), but without the deep freeze. It's still quite cold at the top, but normal ski-type clothing is enough to get you by. If you like that kind of thing you will LOVE this--it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. The mountain is the fourth tallest in Southeast Asia and the world's 20th most prominent peak. (K2 is 22nd!)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_peaks_by_prominence
after getting caught up on my sawadee thread reading (6 pages), its a nice topic here.
Kota Kinabalu is on my list.
Heres me (in red) and 2 buddies at everest.

congrat, good for you....
could you please finish your timeline so i can add your data to spreadsheet? thanks

I just updated the spreadsheet:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p-9...Rqfdg&gid=3
Look at the recent approvals in green compared with the NOA1's. You can see there at 7 months.
just something interesting.

damn, i hope they dont approve mine, i enjoy buying a $1500 r/t plane ticket every 2 1/2 months, supporting 2 households, 22 hour flight one way and having my wife so far away i cant touch her.....and listening to her cooking awesome thai food on the phone when i call, and catching the drool in my little cup.....thinking of how good it tastes. Oh, how I will remember these days when at last they force me to accept the visa and have to bring her here to the states. I'll miss this little drool cup of mine, cause I know she'll take it from me...hmmm, i'll miss these good time of sleeping alone in the bed every night. I have it all to myself now, I'll have to share it.......hooooh hummmm. I guess all good things have to come to an end sometime....................

Don't pay anything. 0 Baht. You're giving her a future she would never have. Don't get sucked in to this. My opinion. Take it for what it is worth. You are going to be supporting her family for the rest of your life. Agree to help them out when they need it, and leave it at that.Ignore my previous posts. I asked my wife about this. I guess they just felt sorry for me. I was broke and unemployed in Bangkok. At the end of the day, they just wanted their daughter to be happy.
That's quite an epiphany in only 20 minutes.
Very nice of you to come back and post a retraction.
Probably should've made the call BEFORE the post. Oh well.
sorry scott, couldnt help myself

After the 6 month time frame, I went to the congressman's office on Wednesday, November 12th, and he called the uscis while i was in his office. called the special congressional hotline I guess.
They told him that on October 27th, our visa stuff was "sent to the processing unit". Whats that?
1 shelf to another?..hmmmmmm
I then called uscis 800 number. Spoke to a nice lady who helped but her computer program wouldnt allow her to enter it for follow up being out of the time frame. SHe sent me to her supervisor who was supposed t be able to override this system. Then, he couldnt do it either as he said they were upgrading their software and he couldnt access the program and to all back Monday...okkaaayyyyyy?

absolutely will help in my opinion.
My wife will have my passport on top of all the documentation.
Shows your serious about it....

Nothing is stranger than trying to make sense of all of this. I know people are answering in good faith but thier facts are not correct. Or they had a very different experiance than we did.
well, i wouldnt be making such blanket statements like that.. because just maybe you might be the one wrong.
The medical is done on forms given by the Embassy & taken to one of two places they have contracts with in BKK. We did ours the day before the interview. This can be done before the interview, just not a good idea to be too early.
My wife and stepdaughter are doing theirs when we send the p-3 packet in....
The police report is NOT good for a year. It is good for about 60 days. Ours was requested from BKK police & sent to our home town. It was good for 60 days.for about 60 days? ok, then you dont know for sure..
I went to the embassy, went to the window, spoke to an interviewer who went and checked with her supervisor to be sure, gave me a document from the Embassy stating, it IS good for 1 year.
NVC does NOT schedual the interview. The Embassy does that after recieving the packet 3.agreed, you can log on to the embassy's site with your BNK number and find the scheduled interview.

Well, had a meeting with the congresswomans immigration aide. He called while I was in his office. he was told that it was sent to the processing unit on 10/27. To give it 30 days...same ole same ole. but at least it got something....
-
I just did this in September. You go there and it takes about 1 hour. In 5 days, you go back and pick it up.
They wouild not mail it to my wife. She went and picked it up. It didnt cost her anything either.
i asked the interviewer at the embassy and she said it is good for 1 year.

Hey all
I wonder if anyone can shed some light. I see you are all very early filers and still waiting for approvals. im only an August filer but i havent recieved a touch or update since 20 August 2008. Im a litlle worried. My husband an i have been apart since April and i just dont know how much longer i can take this. Does no touches mean a bad thing? Has my application been over looked? Im freaking out just a little here!!! Anyone have some advice? Are there any August filers that have recent updates?
Thanks all. And Good luck
touches dont mean ####### but if you just filed in august,
you can see many have been here waiting since March.
sooooooo, ...............
figure 8 months to noa2 then you;ll be pleasantly surprsied if you get it before that....

Congrats on your approvals guys............
I called VSC today and got a young guy who didnt seem to sharp, but he didnt read from a script, actually looked at our case numbers and said the I-130's were on feb. 4th. Since we reached 6 months, this past saturday, I wanted some answers. He told me that on Nov. 12th, the I-129f will reach 6 months and then to call VSC and request expedite. He even gave me the right options to choose to get there.....
Obviously a new guy and even wished me good luck......I was all prepared to tell him to dont bother reading rom a script and to save his breath if he was going to go that route......didnt get the chance...
Well, 2 approvals so far this week. THats great....maybe a last push here for October?

I recommend you do a CR-1 instead of a K3. MUCH, MUCH better visa! Cheaper also.
Here we go again with the opinions.
CR-1 or K-3. research as they both have their advantages and disadvantages.
What is good for one is NOT always good for another.
Depends on your situation......research and dont follow anyone blindly.
Theres my opinion.
-
K-3 was developed at a time when CR-1 was taking much longer that today, NVC has greatly streamlined the CR-1 process to the point where K-3 becomes irrelevant.
damn i wish people would quit saying this. K-3 and cR-1 have both their advantages and disadvantages.
There are those of us who arent worried so much about the $$ and have dependents coming on K-4's that the K-3 makes easier. And yes, the K-3 is still faster buy a few months........
This blanket statement above is an OPINION to certain individuals needs. The K-3 fits others needs and has its place.

http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/vsc.aspx
here is the link I use
It is the processing times for VJ members so you can see how every one else is doing
watch out it is addictive
its also not very accurate. it includes multiples of the same people and doesnt remove people who log in here, create and account and then dont keep their timelines up to date, or disapear later without any updated info.
THis is why filling in your timeline is so important.
caveat emptor

CJ:
Now, I will tell you that I completely agree with your point when it comes to the people who have only been waiting 2, 3, or 4 months and are bellyaching. Those people haven't earned the right - yet. But, if you are at 6-plus 7, 8, or 9 months, like many of the people on this website are, you certainly have earned that right.

ahh, no kidding.....I am arriving at 1750 on the 4th. I hate that midnight arrival......this is the 3rd time I'm flying cathay pacific and arriving at 6pm from Hong Kong. I love it, comparatively speaking of course. gives enough time to get to the hotel, get "re-acquainted"
, go out for dinner, maybe to a bar for a bit......
i return on the 14th...........
