  1. The general rule is the Consulate will accept a police report less than twelve months old but the best practice is to get it as close to the interview as is practical.

I am interested in this same information but each consulate is different.

The Chinese Consulate in Guangzhou will have slightly different rules than Bangkok.

I've done a K-1 through Guangzhou before, now doing a K-3 through Bangkok and I'm not so sure to be jumping on the bandwagon of 12 months across the board for every consulate.

I'll send the BKK Embassy an email and ask, but no telling how long it will take them to answer..

  2. Thanks Sojourner-

It seems the BKK Embassy is a little more relaxed than other places......

I was there in March, when my wife and I got the gov't affidavit so we could marry.

What about the police report? Know anythng about it?

I'll probably stop back in the Embassy when I return in June, just to get some info.

I'd like to get the police report in June and medical in September, that is if things

    move along through VSC.

  3. I recently sen the I-130 and I-19f and Yes, I sent the same supporting evidence.

The reason being, The 2 arent going to be connected, the beuracracy wont allow the same casehandler and I think its smart and safe to play them as individual petitions that both need approved. cause they do.

  4. Yes, the 24 month thing was an error on my part which had to do with reciprocity.

I'm still trying to find out info for Thailand (BKK) time frame on the police report and how long the medical exams are good for....

I've been through this before with a K-1 in China....

but K-3 in BKK is a bit different and things have changed since the K-1.

When you can have the medical exam depends on the consulate and the doctor I think. I dunno about the Phils, but in Canada we can't even have the medical exam until you have the interview letter from the consulate, they won't schedule it.

Besides which, you don't want the medical to expire before you apply for AOS once she's in the US with the K3. If the medical expires before you apply for AOS, she'll have to have another medical exam, at further expense. And they cost more in the US than they do usually in foreign countreis. In my area, the civil surgeons want $400 for a complete immigration work up :P

OK, gotcha, thanks.....I spoke to soon on my last message.

  6. Hello gang,

I'm just keeping abreast of each step along the way to

keep the timeline as speedy as possible on my end.

Although, my wifes interview wont be till the fall,

I want to have everything together for the p-3 to

have sent back to the Bangkok Embassy asap.

I see the police reprot is good for 24 months, so when I return

to Thailand in June, we'll get the police report taken care of.

Now, my main question, how long is the medical exam good for?

How long before the interview, are you able to have this done?

I'll be going back to Thailand to see my wife in September also.

We could have it done then, but if possible, June would be best

    in case things speed along.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Frank

  7. I just went through this regarding the sin sot.

My wife and I were married through the ceremony on March 27. I paid a sinsot (amount is nobody's friggin business in a public forum) but I will say 80% was given back to me......Its a face saving thing, and yes, a Thai marrying a falang will be higher than marrying another Thai. Dont let anyone make your decision for you, follow your gut instinct but I have to agree, with 2 kids is less.

We had a HUGE wedding...and I mean HUGE. I paid more than stated here. I paid 65,000 bhat alone for the flowers, photographer, wedding clothes-organizing company.....

We then went to the US embassy, got the necessary documents and went to the Thail gov. and legally married on March 31, changed her name, etc..........

So, as long as you dont do the swearing in bit at the Amphour, your not legally married, can still do the K-1..........
