Thank you. No, she went with me and the girls in order to be present at the ceremony.

So today I had my interview. Here is my experience. My case is marriage based.
I arrived at 11:45 am, parked the car ($8) and went to the building.I went with my wife and my 2 daughters (2 years old, and 6 months old). We all went through the metal detector and waited in line to check in for my appointment (12:10 pm). The line was a bit long, and it took time. Finally at 12:15, I asked the 3 people ahead of me to let me go first as I was already late. They were really polite and let me go before them and I checked in. There a lady asked me for the notice of interview and my driver license.
We went upstairs to the waiting room and there were a lot of people waiting there. An officer said in loud voice that everybody should have their passport, green card and drivers license ready before being called. An officer called me at 1:05 pm. My interview was in-person with the officer who called me. The questions I was asked were the following:
What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment? How many U.S. Senators are there?
Who is the father of our country?
What is the capital of your state?
What happened at the Constitutional Convention?
What did the Emancipation Proclamation do?
Then they asked me to read on a tablet the sentence, "The father of our country is George Washington." And they asked me to write, "We have 100 senators."
Then we went through different questions like, "How long have you been married? Do you have children? Do you still work at the same place you stated before? etc."
The officer told me that I passed the interview, but they will let me know when to return for the oath ceremony as today there were no more available spots... That was really disappointing as we finished the interview at around 1:30 pm, but people were in line to go to the room where the ceremony is held. And people that were called after me were heading to the line.
Cheers to my wife and little ones who accompanied me and waited for almost 2 hours just to hear there was no oath ceremony today.
Looking forward to the Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony. -

For my interview they asked me how fast I needed to travel out of the country. If I had said right away, they would have let me with my green card and schedule the path after I’m back in the country. They only take your green card literally when you enter the door of the oath ceremony room.
Hope this helps!
Thank you

Hi Jujuy,
The Green card is not taken away from you until they have the Naturalization certificate ready to be handed over to you. Which is right before the oath ceremony. If, for any reason, after the interview, the oath ceremony cannot be done on the same day and needs to be scheduled for later, then you will carry the Green card with you and bring it back when the oath ceremony is scheduled.
Thanks
Thanks for this answer! It really helps to know that as I have a trip days after the interview, and I wanted to make sure I can still be part of it!

Hi,
i had my interview today (8/10). My appointment was at 8:45 am and I got there 25 mins before. They did let me in and after security took a picture and index finger prints from both hands.
After that they asked me to go to the second floor. I first sat on the right side of the waiting area but then moved to the other side as they were calling out numbers from this side.
My interview was virtual and they ask us to take out our passports, green card and drivers license. The headset is not the best but one can make do for the 20 min conversation.
The officer was pleasant and accommodating. She mentioned to ask her to repeat things if I couldn’t understand her before answering.
she asked me to show the drivers license and green card and please it close to the camera for her to take a screen shot. to confirm my identity she asked for my name and birthdate.
Then she started the interview and asked me to confirm my identity which I found repetitive. Any way she asked me the civics questions first
A. Who is the Chief Justice?
B. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
C. Name two holidays
D. Who is in charge of the executive?
E. Who did USA fight against in Ww2?
F. When is Independence Day?
For the English test she asked me to read
Who is George Washington?
She asked me to write
George Washington was the first president.
After which she asked details from the application. One question that was interesting to me was why did I leave the employer that had sponsored my green card?
After the personal questions there were the national security ones which are a series of yes /no questions.
Then she mentioned that I’m completed all the evaluations necessary for citizenship and have passed them all. However she cannot approve my application because she doesn’t have my file. It is in transit and might take up to 90 days. So she asked me to go home and wait for a decision. She mentioned I should open an info pass appointment if I have not heard back in 90 days.
I had got my green card 9 years ago so they had a much older picture of me and hence she asked me to retake the picture before I left.
I hope others were able to get their oath today however whilst I was waiting I didn’t see anyone hanging around the waiting area for the oath ceremony. The auditorium area downstairs also was empty.
Hi Some_one,
I have a question regarding your situation (I asked this to Bashar, who had a situation similar to yours).
Did they take away your green card after the interview, or did you go home with your green card as you didn't do the oath ceremony?
I read that people are asked for their green card when they go "downstairs" for the ceremony, so I want to know what happened in your situation.
I hope everything went well on your ceremony on 9/9
Thank you! -

Hi everyone! looking for quick advice.
I had my interview today. it went well and I passed, but my file was not there so they had to delay my oath ceremony. they said the file should arrive within 30 days.
I unfortunately made a mistake during the interview - they asked if I had ever been cited by an officer, and I said no. When I left the interview, I realized I had completely unintentionally forgotten about a speeding ticket I got this year in February (after I submitted the N-400 application). The ticket was reduced to a non-moving violation when I challenged it in court, and there are no points on my record. It now looks like a parking ticket on my record. However, I am worried that the officer could consider this lying. I want to contact USCIS and clarify this issue but I don't know how and I don't know if this would make any complication with my case. If my file had been there today, I would have just left as a citizen and this wouldn't have been an issue at all.
Any advice for what to do in this situation? Thanks so much
Hi Bashar,

I hope they have already contacted you as it's been more than 30 days since you posted this

You should be able to get a passport in that amount of time, my wife was able to get hers in less than a week.
After you have done your oath, call 1-877-487-2778 which is the scheduling line for Urgent Travel Service Passport Service. The hours for the line are 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET, Mondays through Fridays.
My wife called on a Wed evening and was able to get an appointment for Friday morning. At the appointment, they will determine, based on your travel details, if you need same day service or can wait two business days to receive your passport. Make sure you bring all of the necessary stuff with you (passport photos, proof of travel, payment, etc.). From there, you will return to the office either later in the day or two days later to pick up your passport.
Thank you so much for answering this! This is really helpful and encouraging!

Nice!
Yeah, about the introspection, I had to let folks now what it means. Unless you’ve lived for a while in a country that’s not your native one, you can’t really understand what it means
I got it yep, travel coming very soon. It’s actually faster than I was expecting.
Congratulations on becoming a US citizen!
Can you share the steps for getting a passport so fast, please? Did it take 2 days from the interview to receive your passport?
I'm really interested in hearing this as I have a trip 8 days after the interview and I worry I won't get a passport on time.
Or would you prefer that I contact you in private?
Thank you so much in advance and once again, congratulations!!! -
So... I received my interview notice today!!!
My interview will take place exactly 6 months after I filed my case. (04/11/2022 - 10/11/2022).
I just want to thank all of you who post updates about your case, why? Because when I filed and I saw that my "estimated time* until case decision was approx. 18 months", I started to make travel plans, but out of the blue I found this community and it made me cancel all my plans as I noticed the cases were speeding up!
This is my thankful postRandom fact, if I pass the test and become a US citizen that day, it would be 3 years, 3 months and 7 days since I came to the US.

Hi,
I would like to know if everyone uses https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op4=1&op5=5,10,11&op6=All&op7=Seattle WA
to update and track the case status.
Thanks
It really depends on the person...
The google doc helps in getting a prediction of your interview date, as it takes into account the last 10 data points prior to your case. -

I would imagine they wouldn't let you take devices through security beyond your cell phone. I could also see someone getting upset if you start trying to unplug headphones from the set up...
Yes, I can imagine the same... I hope to be in that small percentage that can have the interview in person, fingers crossed.

This is exactly how it was with only one change. There are two tablets (or in the case of my wife two tablets and a monitor because the screen on one was having issues). One tablet is used for video conferencing and the other is used for the reading/writing portion.
I assume your wife didn't know if the interview was going to be via video conference or in person, or did they give a hint in the notice of interview?
I am wondering if people with problems of hearing could bring their own headphones in order to help them hear better... (talking a bit about myself here). Reading that she could hear others and that it was distracting, I am a bit concerned about my interview if it happens to be in front of a tablet rather than in person.

Looks like Seattle FO is really cranking up! Half a year of applications in a month of interview! At that speed they could really get down to 3 months from application, which is perfect for folks applying 90 days before their 3/5 year mark.
Just got my notice, interview scheduled in Tukwila on 9/29/2022 (filed 3/10/2022).
PS: Interesting fact. I checked MyUSCIS yesterday, it was estimating 8 months, today (on the day of the notice) it's estimating 13 moths. Not even sure why they have that estimate if it's so inaccurate.
This is so cool to read! Getting excited here (I filed almost a month after you 4/11/2022). My portal still shows 14 months as the estimated processing time (September 2023!), but it seems that at this rhythm I might be scheduled for mid October this year.
Happy for you! -

Hello Seattle N400 Fillers,
Last night I received a call from a friend who filed his N400 in March this year at Seattle processing center, and he got an interview schedule notice for an interview in Portland, Oregon next month in September.
Cheers,
G&A
Awesome! It seems that people who filed Dec 2021 - March 2022 are all scheduled for September! Do you know the day in March your friend filed his case?

Looking at the general tracker on the website, seems like two more people with filing dates in Feb 2022 (2nd and 21st) have also received interview dates.
Wow! Yes, and it seems that a person who filed on Feb 7 has also received interview date for September

Oh no! I was wondering about your case. I do hope they'll send you the notification this week

It's so nice to see that they have started working on cases filed on February! According to the Spreadsheet a person who filed on 02/16/2022 has already received their interview notification! Tukwila is doing a great job this summer
Hopefully it will continue like that

That’s so funny, I’m right after you, but my online portal shows 7 months. So many questions, so little answers 🤣
Really looking forward to hearing from you to see how the "days to interview notice" section updates on the spreadsheet :)
