  1. Get a letter from your GP clarifying things like that. My husband went to his medical and didn’t have a letter with explanations, so he had to have the doctor send one. So I’d try to save yourself some time and just have that for your appointment.

It has been about a month now since NVC sent us an email with a case number and online it says case ready. I have just submitted ds-160 form and I have the confirmation page and all my documents ready, however I still have not yet scheduled the interview because I have not received anything in the post still. Has anyone experienced this? Do I need to wait for this letter? I am reading so many posts about waiting for the letter to come and then so many others saying it is not needed and to go ahead and book the interview anyway as some people never even receive the letter or they can take months to come.  Has anyone been to the London embassy k1 interview without having received a letter? I don't know what to do just seems like such a waste of time waiting for this letter to show up, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    You need the letter

    Hello all,

Does anyone have an experience of an interview at the US embassy in London? As part of the proof of relationship/marriage, does the officer who conducts the interview would like to see just the boarding passes or both the emails from the airlines and the boarding passes?

I have huge folders of documents, proof, and photos to take with me and I’m not allowed a big bag in the embassy.

    Thank you everyone.

They did not ask to see any proof of relationship paperwork for our interview. They didn’t even ask for any of the NVC paperwork. I think the only things they wanted were IDs (maybe marriage cert). I’d bring some new proof just in case, though. As well as acro and marriage cert and NVC print offs.

How did you file online without an account?

It's a matter logging in to the account you used to submit the application and you'll see the option for unsolicited evidence.

You created an account on USCIS in order to submit your petition online. Sign in there and you will see how to upload evidence.

  6. My husband got here on Dec 12 and his coverage begins through the exchange on Jan 1. Since it isn’t a long wait, we didn’t think it necessary to bother trying to find something for that two week period. But I’m sure if you search for short term insurance in the US though something extravagantly priced will pop up!

I am! I have asked Emma a few times where my case was and it turned out my case is now at a field office, which is weird to me. I thought all the I-130 for CR1 are processed at the service center, not a field office.

It sounds like you may have checked the wrong box (as filing within the US) when petitioning the I-130. Within the US is field office, outside of US it should be at a service center. I believe when this mistake is made you need to pretty much restart the process.

  8. He would need to be in the US to join your bank account. My husband did so at our bank before having a SSN. I added my husband as a user in my credit card -again it depends on the credit card. We made Wills, Power of Attorney, got life insurance, made each other beneficiaries on each others 401k/pensions. There are lots of things to do—pretty much normal husband/wife stuff you would do regardless.

  9. The average person in the UK doesn’t even make that salary. I was quite disgusted when I read about this originally and seems like a very unfair jump.

not to mention they won’t bother to try to reduce immigration where the UK sees tons of influx. Rather, they try to stop families from being together legally.

    Hello,

I am filling out the I-864 and like others noticed the electronic form has many limitations such as not being able to write “N/A” in fields or “none” in numerical fields as instructed. It also apparently needs to be signed with your real signature, not the digital one where you just type your name like on other PDF forms (such as when E-filing taxes). Instead of printing, physically writing in/signing and re-scanning the form, has anyone had any experience with filling out the form with a digital pen/stylus (you are essentially drawing on the pdf)? This way it would show your actual handwriting and signature.  Using the first method since it is scanned im not sure someone would even be able to tell the difference between the two? Wondering if NVC would allow this. Any help greatly appreciated!

You will be fine signing electronically. We didn’t print and sign ours, just signed electronically like you mentioned..I actually did it with my finger, not even a stylus, with adobe sign …we didn’t have any problems and it was accepted on the first submittal. DQ back in end of August this year, visa issued last month.

10 minutes?  Really?  Is that normal?  I was expecting my wife would have to go through a 2 hour interrogation 🤣

Very normal. My husband was at one window about 5 min providing paperwork..with the officer who was making the decision for 5 min. It’s very anticlimactic

Anyone who has had their interview. What did you wear? Shirt and tie etc or more casual?

My husband wore jeans, a polo shirt, and sneakers.

  12. Vaccines was our hold up. My husband brought the list of required vax to his GP…the GP gave him some that he needed. When he went to the medical he was still missing 2: hepatitis and I can’t remember the other. Then he had to go pay for the vaccines and the nurse who could give the hepatitis was not available for 2 weeks. It still only held up our approval by 2 days after the interview, though.

I would hate to hijack the thread, but if you don’t mind me asking, how long after receiving document qualification from the NVC did it take to receive your interview date email?

    Many thanks

Ours 2 weeks. DQ was at end of August this year.

Would I be allowed to enter the USA on my B2 visa after submitting the I-130? And if I do enter the US on a B2 visa, how would that affect the immigration process?

My husband visited many times on us ESTA while our i-130 was in process. He was never questioned about it but always came prepared to show he had ties to his home country. It’s up to the boarder officer each time though. It wouldn’t affect the immigration process at all, unless you were denied entry( which you would just need a waiver for anyway if it came to that).  But if it sounds like they are going to deny entry you can ask to withdraw your request to enter the country.

I had my full medical records printed by my gp before I moved house last week. But now I’ve scheduled my medical test it says in the email it needs to be a summary version. My new gp is saying they can’t print it before my test date on the 17th. Has anyone gone with their full medical record instead? Is that okay? Or do I need a private gp to type up a summary?

My husbands medical printout was like an entire history report too…tons of pages. You have to call  visa medicals ahead of time to let them know if it’s more than a certain number of pages so they can make extra time to review. He didn’t have any issues with his.

I got my interview letter today: Dec 6th!!! I need a few vaccines before the medical test. Is it 100% that we need the medical test 2 weeks before the interview? I’m just thinking of timings as I’ve literally just moved house and am signing up to a new gp

I’d try to get the medical sooner, if you can. My husband had his 3.5 weeks beforehand but had to get a vaccine that was missed..got that vaccine almost 2 weeks before the interview and the paperwork hadn’t arrived to the embassy yet. It wasn’t bad though, it only ended up being a few days of administrative processing before approving. But it just would’ve been nice to get that approval same day.

anyone recently had their interview? we have our interview 16th November. Completed medical last friday... feeling really nervous! what should we expect for the interview? any tips? what questions did they ask you?

Yes on 10/25. It’s very anticlimactic, like only 5 min with the officer. Check the interview reviews for the London Embassy and the questions ppl say they were asked are spot on. My husband  had his medical about 3 weeks earlier, but needed to get a vaccine — got that about 1.5 weeks ahead of the interview and they didn’t have the results in time. But he was approved like 3 days afterwards. But sounds like yours should be at the embassy in time.
