  1. Currently filling out the I-485 form with my spouse and he hasn't committed any serious crimes or been arrested, but I feel like everyone has done something like jaywalking or accidentally littered. Are those small things considered crimes? Are they looking to see if you answer yes to show your honesty about very minor things or should I just answer no? I just don't want to say no and then have it be a trick if they ask if you've ever jaywalked or something... Hopefully this question isn't too ridiculous
  2. Im sorry, I posted my previous thread in the wrong forum and I thought they moved it here >.< I am applying for AOS for my spouse who is currently on an ESTA visa waiver program. It wasnt our initial plan to do it this way, but circumstances changed and we decided this would be the safest way for us to move forward. I should have posted in "Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas" Is there a way for me to move this post or should I delete it and repost it there?
  3. We just got married last week and have almost everything ready to submit, but we haven't submitted the paperwork yet! I have current income through grants provided during summer training for my job which starts in September, but my previous years' income is from abroad and doesnt meet the requirements for the affidavit of support. I want to be the sole sponsor once my job begins in the fall.
  4. it is for my husband! I just arrive back in the us a few months ago and he was initially planning on visit but we decided to marry due to some changing circumstances. (i need to fill my timeline in, sorry!)
  5. I just moved back the US and have a teaching job at a public school that will start in September. I plan to initially use my parents for the affidavit of support, but would it be possible to change the sponsor to me once my job begins? Ill be abovethe required income levels, I just would feel more comfortable if it were me as the sponsor instead of my parents. Could I submit a new affidavit of support since the support doesnt start until the immigrant becomes a permanent residence? thank you for any info or advice!
  6. Thank you to everyone for the great info and advice. Yeah, I think it isn't likely to be overturned but even the president stated that if roe v Wade is overturned then same sex marriage could be next. I just don't want to risk it with the current supreme court composition. If they can overturn an issue that affects so many, I feel it would be even easier to overturn an issue that affects fewer people and they could do it with little pushback.
  7. Thanks, do you know anything about the process to do aos or is there a dedicated page on this site? Sorry I'm new to this site
  8. I hope this is the correct forum to ask the question and get some advice! I recently moved back to the us after living abroad for six years, I have been in a relationship with my Korean boyfriend and lived together for the past 3 years. I recently moved back to the us and he came with me on an esta vida to visit. Originally, our plan was to just have him visit and then we would do the k-1 fiance visa application, but after the controversy with roe v Wade, I didn't want to risk how it could affect same sex marriage. So we decided to get married before he leaves in two weeks. Is this fine and what kind of issues could this path to marriage/green card cause? Does anyone have any advice on the steps we should take or have experience in a similar situation? Thank you for any advice!
