Nah - not that...  That one sounds more German...

    In any case:

I have an interview date of Dec 27 - in Buffalo.  In other words, who knows what old man winter will throw at us still.  Going to be fun considering that we have friends coming in from out of town for the 26th as well...

    Moving along, slowly...

I remember seeing @Cybermax comment in another thread about getting an interview letter in Oct, here

I applied for my passport on the 30th of Oct, it came in the mail on the 15th, just waiting on my Nat. certificate to come back in the mail now then I'm all done as soon as I update status with the Social Security Office

Finally, please, paint me RED. Long story short: I was approved and got naturalized the same day!
    Details are below:
Today I had my interview at the Denver USCIS service center. The interview was scheduled for 8:00 AM. I arrived at 7:30, checked in and waited for about 30 minutes in the waiting area until my name was called.
The immigration officer was very nice, professional, and willing to help. As we were walking in the corridor she apologized if she mispronounced my name, she said she was not sure which name to use (I had opted for a name change on my n400) and this was a perfect moment for me to inform her that I was backing out of name-change. I told her that in case, just in case, if I will get approved, I would like to be considered for the same-day naturalization ceremony.
So, our conversation evolved into making updates into my case with cancelling out the name-change, updating my marital status (I got married while waiting) and she also verified my documents such as the marriage certificate, my passport, green card, and the interview letter.
She was not too formal, not too cordial, just about in the middle. We briefly talked about the weather, coffee (since it was early morning) so that I can kind of overcome the anxiety. She took my picture and fingerprints to verify my identity. Then she said that she will start with the civics and English reading and writing tests.
The civics questions were roughly these:
Name of the Anthem (the Star-Spangled Banner)
What is the Rule of Law (none is above the Law)
The Ocean on the West Coast (Pacific)
What happened on 9/11 (terrorists attacked the US)
Who can vote in a federal election (citizens over 18 and older)
Why does the flag have 13 stripes (there were 13 original colonies).
Then she asked me to read: How many senators are there in the Senate and write the answer: There are 100 senators in the Senate.
Then she went over my n400 and asked all the questions she needed more clarification. I gave her the most up-to-date documentation about my child support payments, since 9 months have passed since I applied.
She said she was satisfied with all the evidence and documentation I provided about my case, but still she felt that she needed to consult with her supervisor to make the final decision. She asked if I could wait, I said sure. She went to talk with her supervisor and eventually approved me and scheduled me for the same-day naturalization.
I got out at around 9:15 and came back at 1:00PM for the naturalization ceremony. People kept coming for another hour or so and the naturalization process began at 2:00 PM and we were done by 3:30 roughly.
I am now a proud citizen of the USA. My journey is over!

Congrats KleoLove, mine was a very similar experience

We drove and parked in the West hall parking ($20 ouch! but win on keeping my toddler sane vs the metro). Hubby and son went in the guest entrance and I went through the applicants one. Security was quick and I was directed to go to the shortest line for checking in. They commented on why I still had my 2yr GC (no ROC interview so I never had the chance to hand it in). Answered the questions and assigned a table to pick my certificate up after the ceremony.

The left side of the hall was full with applicants so I got seated in the middle section, about 8-10 rows from the front. Ceremony started and the judge greeted us, an officer asked for the motion to grant all 3420 applicants citizenship. The judge granted the motion and welcomed us as America's newest citizens, he then told us of his background (first Haitian district judge in the US, his parents immigration journey and how he views the process in a humble manner). They had a lady talk more on what it is to be a citizen and our fundamental rights and civic duties. Recignized active military members, announced the top three counties out of 106 different nationals in the room being sworn in, and played a video of the current president and a music video. The judge said a few more things then dismissed us. The actual ceremony was about 45 mins long and then another 45 mins to get to my row to be dismissed and collect our certificates. They had us fill out and submit our voter registration cards whilst we were waiting to be dismissed, they had countless tables and booths set up to help you with that if you needed assistance with that too. Outside was a passport application booth/tent and a commemorative photo line too. They also noted to not post photos of your naturalization certificates on social media, to go and update your legal status with social security after about 10 days too.

Paint me red also! I was also at the Los Angeles oath ceremony today!  (congrats @DisneyLovers!!) Finally a citizen!!

here is a quick summary of my experience:
took the metro train and walked two blocks to the convention center for 12:30 pm check-in. We were in West Hall A which was way in the back (felt bad for the ladies in heels). As mentioned long lines to get through security. Then you check in with your letter and green card. Officer will review it and then assign you a table number to pick up your certificate later.  They will ask the same questions as the ones on the back of your oath ceremony notice, all were NO. Trickiest one was "when was your interview?" Umm like a month ago, I blanked on the date, but the officer was nice. Also, they reversed the last one: will you bear arms for the US, the answer is YES.

You are then seated and wait for the judge to come and do the oath portion. Then came an official from USCIS who gave more info about what it means to be citizens, recognized the active military members, and congratulated all of us. They played two videos (one with the current President ). The families were dismissed and we all went to preassigned tables to pick up our certificates. Entire ceremony took about 2 hours. I went by myself and had no problems. Best of luck to all!

Thank you wonderful members of Visajourney for all your support and encouragement. This community allowed me to independently file all my paperwork (from AOS-->Citizenship). Best of luck and remain positive that your time will come soon!  Applying for our passports this Saturday, so moving on to that timelines!

Glad it worked smoothly for you @bonjour2017!!  For comparison data, I made an appointment at the Passport Office and Seattle for the day after my Oath ceremony.  I took all the needed information, paid the expedite fee (including showing my proof of upcoming travel) and returned two days later to pick up the Passport.  Plenty of options for all......

Best of continued good fortune everyone!

Just want to confirm that it doe not take that long to get a passport after becoming a citizen.  I did not use expedited processing.  I had my oath ceremony on Aug 31, 17,  applied Sept 1 for the passport at my post office (just walked in). Passport arrived on Sept 23 in regular mail.

I used the set of passport photos that  I had taken in preparation for the interview, in case they asked for them.  People on here were recommending to bring them as a precaution.  So I didn't need them but it was handy to have them for the passport.

Good luck to the rest of the January 2017 filers still in processing!

I had my interview this morning at the Los Angeles county field office, I got there at 9.20am and they let us in early so my toddler could go to the bathroom. Checked in at 9.25, fingerprints and photo were taken at the window and then waited till I was called back.
We went over my application, confirmed that their immigration print out of dates outside the US matched my form, I explained my 1day accidental overstay on the VWP over 10yrs ago (he noted that even though my paperwork said banned for life it had been expunged from my file on my 3rd year of being a permanent resident, but it was good that I was honest. After signing that I'm willing to take the oath, etc, he asked the 6 questions
    1. what nation of people were taken and sold as slaves?
    2. who makes laws?
    3. how many amendments are there?
    4. why did the US fight the British?
    5. who is the vice president?
    6. what is the highest court in the US
(reading test) who can vote? (Had to write the answer).

He joked that every Brit he interviews gets that same sheet of questions when he pulls them out of the tray with regards to #4, And italians and Germans seem to randomly get questions about WWII too. Talked a little whilst he double checked everything on the computer. Then I signed, dated, and wrote my A number on the paperwork for the oath then he said congrats, my oath letter will be in the mall in the next few weeks.

    Hi guys,

on Friday I had my 10:15 am interview for n400 at the Los Angeles office. Here is a rundown: We arrived at 9:45 am via Metro Silver Lane commuter bus and crossed the street and made the line to enter the building. It was pretty long so the security guard counted us off and took half of us to the other entrance where we breezed through security. We stopped by the restrooms before going up which is the best thing to do.  Went up the elevator and entered the crowded waiting room. Checked in with my notice letter at 10:05 am, the teller just took it and said to sit down that it was going to be a long wait. I reviewed my civics test and noticed that they did not wait for people who were not present in the room if their name was called. Even if they were at the restroom the agents would make a note and move on to the next person. I assume they would later be called again.

10:50ish I was called up to the window and asked to take a photo (glasses off) and for my fingerprints. 11:15ish I was called up by a nice Latina lady. My husband and I both went up but she asked him to wait outside. She commented that it was nice that he came with me (so I assume it's not common). The first thing we did was stop at the Xerox machine where she made copies of my GC, ID, and passport.

The agent was nice but very thorough. Once at her office we took care of the civics and English test first. Sentence to write was something like "Washington was the first President", don't recall the reading but it was similar. The civics the questions I remember are: "How many years are house of Reps elected for? -2yrs, What is the name of the Chief Justice on the Supreme Court? -John Roberts, Who is the founding father of this country? -George Washington, How many House of Reps? -435". We stopped after I got 6 correct. Then we verified the rest of my paperwork and my petition for name change. She wrote down any updated and also any notes. For example, I went out of the country with my University for research and she noted that down.

At the end, she did ask for my taxes and any other evidence. Thank god I had two previous years of taxes and some utility bills on me. I had consulted a lawyer earlier in the week who said that I didn't need any of that. I'm glad I took something but I was worried that I didn't have the latest 2016 tax transcript. I played it cool and said that I would see what I brought with me since the printer was running out of ink (true story). She reviewed them, noted that some were updated such as our car insurance and added them to the file. Finally, she gave me a letter that indicated I passed and would receive the oath notice within 30 days. She advised that I would not have my legal name change until the day of the oath. The entire interview was about 30 mins.

Moral of the story is to always bring all paperwork with you just in case.  I'm so ready to have this oath done!! Thanks everyone for all your support especially @jane78 Best of luck!

As far as I'm aware the 1-94 became obsolete as soon as you got your permanent GC, it's a souvenir now
Now if like me, you still have your 2yr temporary GC (as I never had a ROC interview to return it at) or any other expired EAD/AP cards, you should return that at the oath ceremony along with the current GC
