  1. You will get your IL via email. You print that off as confirmation. I also got a new passport in new married name, so I uploaded it to CEAC after I received my interview letter and I will take old one and new one with me to interview. I registered for courier online using my old name (same as DS260), and will let the CO update my DS260 at interview to reflect my name change.
  2. The name should match the name on your passport and DS-260. If it matches that, then you had the misfortune of a Reviewer that didn’t know what they were doing. Since phone lines are currently down at NVC, the only thing you can do is re-upload it (nothing cut off) and in the comment section state “re-upload of RCMP (privacy act) police check. This was previously rejected, however has been confirmed to be the correct version of report required for US Immigration. Thank you” or something similar.
  3. Did you order this report under “Privacy Act”? At the bottom of page does it say this statement?…
  4. Same interview date here! Letter received today. DQ April 15th, Interview August 1st. CR1 Good luck to us both! 🤞
  5. Selling a Canadian property after becoming a U.S. resident will trigger tax implications with both IRS and CRA. I believe CRA withholds 25% of the sale proceeds until departure tax is figured out. Simply transferring funds to US bank from Canada while still a Canadian resident doesn’t cause an issue with IRS, however if it’s a large sum, CRA will want to know what the funds are being used for I’m sure…that’s when the bank tellers get nosy and start asking questions about what you’re up to lol.
  6. Well I do know that it triggers a T5008 due to the buying and selling of stocks, so depending on the amount you could get hit with a sizeable capital gains (taxable income). I think I’m going to steer clear of NG and go with WISE instead.
  7. I’ve looked into them before. I’ll look into again when the time comes and compare apples to apples, however buying and selling stocks via the NG method would trigger a T5008 = taxable. Something to take a deep dive into to see whether it will be worth the hassel or not.
  8. Yes take the scanned copy that’s fine. They may not even ask for it, but it’s always best to bring everything just in case. Good luck!
  9. Yes that is correct. If you can find the other one you uploaded previously, take that too.
  10. My home in Canada sold and closes June 30th. I am going to wire all proceeds using WISE to my U.S. bank account I opened last year. You don’t need a SSN to open a bank account in USA (at most banks), just a passport. I’m transferring my funds while I’m still a Canadian Resident (visa interview not til July or Aug).
  11. Yes you should upload an updated I-864 with the latest tax year (2021) prior to interview and take original to interview, along with tax info.
