No problem, I get you,! Too much (conflicting) information can be very confusing. I was concerned you were expecting the interview to be in Vancouver...

You can wait for P3 (by mail) with the list of documents you need to email them (passport photo page, form DS-160, P3 checklist) or you can get ahead and send them an email with these as early as today if you want. I did this and skipped that P3 waiting period - probably up to 2-3 weeks. You can find the P3 content and instructions here: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pdf

You will then receive P4 by email a few days later. :) Let me know if I can help you with anything else. I've already received P4 and booked my interview for June 1st.

Thank you so much for pointing me towards the right direction! You've been sososo helpful. Thank you for linking the pdf of packet 3 online. That's a great idea that you got a head start on it since I can easily print this off at home as well.

I wish you the best of luck with your interview coming up!

Hi! The Ready means it your case has arrived at the consulate in Montreal (it may have shown "In Transit" before this). Your case will stay in Montreal, which is the only Consulate in Canada that processes K1 Visas. Are you aware that your interview will be in Montreal?

    Thanks Flavia!

Yes, I know that the interview will be in Montreal (I'm excited to finally taste Montreal style bagels). I guess my main question would be whether I should be expecting mail from the embassy about my next steps? The volume of information and lack thereof at the same time is a little confusing! I found some information about Packet 3 and Packet 4 online but I'm not sure if I should follow that on my own or wait to hear from the embassy before I proceed. The information online dates back to 2014 so I'm cautious to follow it completely.

    Many thanks :)

  3. Hi all,

Can someone please tell me what to expect next now that my status on CEAC is showing up as "Ready"?

From what I understand, I should be getting Package 3 and Package 4 in the mail. In the meantime, should I be filling out DS-160? How long will it take for my package to arrive from Montreal to Vancouver?

    Thank you!

  4. I plan on driving down from Vancouver down to the US to enter with my K1 visa and I'm wondering can share their experiences with entering the US with a K1 visa through the land border? Specifically Peace Arch. Is there anything that I should be looking out for or preparing?

In addition, I plan on driving down with my car. Are there any immediate complications for my car? For example, will I have to fill out any forms or pay any additional fees at the border? Or can I worry about importing documents/fees once I've settled in the US.

My apologies if these questions have obvious answers that I can look up, this is a stressful process and I would like to hear more about everyone else's experiences!

    Thank you thank you!

As of March 7, 2023, most Immediate Relative and fiancé(e) visa cases being scheduled for interview in Montreal were documentarily complete at the National Visa Center in December 2022; most Family Preference cases with visa numbers available that are being scheduled for interview were documentarily qualified in September 2022; and most Employment cases scheduled for interview were documentarily complete in January 2021.

Hi there, where would you find this information? I believe I've come across this information somewhere on the embassy website before but I'm struggling to find the link again!

  6. Case processing times have once again been increased! This is starting to feel like a never ending process - when we filed in November, case processing times were supposedly 6 months... Is there anyone more knowledgable about this able to provide an educated guess as to how long we'll be waiting? At this point, case processing times have been increased countless times and I'm finally getting why people are losing hope.

  7. I noticed that when checking USCIS processing times that I can now see all the service centres and their processing times for the I-129f. Could this mean that USCIS will start processing K1 visas at all the service centres? And if so, could this help decrease processing times?
