  2. I got my Green Card in the mail today!!! Woo-Hoo!!!

But I now have a question about my SSN...I got a number using my EAD, and on the card it says "For Work Only authorized by DHS" or something of that nature...So my question is, now that I have my green card, could i go and get a replacement card that just has the number on it without that additional saying?

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Congrats on your Green Card. Its good if your card shows authorized for work. But if you go to the SSA office they will just issue a new card with just your name and the SSN.

  3. I didn't prepare her to decline the immunizations, so BNH probably just did it automatically. I suspect if she had said she didn't want them then and there, it wouldn't have been a problem. After all, they couldn't really force her, right?

Even if you decline the vaccinations they will not approve your medical. They will just tell you its required. So just go with what they say :P

  4. With the AMAZING amount of useful information on this site I wish I had of stumbled upon it before we hired our attorney. I am truly astonished at the sheer volume of information provided on this site and just wanted to say THANKS to everybody!

From 'Step by Step" filing, to culture adjustments - to Canadian's and their Jaywalking!(lol)

This truly is THE place to go for ease during anyone immigration process.

I agree, before I found this site I as frustrated and didn't know what to do was kinda in the dark. :P

Now I am going along with a bit of confidence and its all thanks to VJ!

  7. We found out our interview date months before they ever showed up in the Embassy's Interview schedule.

My girls interview was on June 3rd and we never saw her interview schedule listed in the Embassy's website until the May 11 update. I think its best if you can get an update via email from the Embassy. I think maybe they don't have enough room to put every one on the list.

  8. My fiancee's interview is Tuesday July 15th. What is the reasonable date to get the visa back. I would say on Thursday, from what I have been reading. So, if i booked tickets for the weekend, I should be in the clear. Thanks for any feedback.

My fiancee finished her interview on June 3rd and got her passport with visa back on June 5th.

If she interviews on Thursday I will think she get her visa back on Monday going by the 48hr rule.

  9. Hi-

I have a quick question for any of you whose fiancee has recently been to their medical interview in Bangkok or Chiang Mai... Do you know exactly which vaccinations they were required to get (aside from the HPV one, my fiance is a guy so that won't apply!)??? From what I've found and based on his age (32), I think he's going to need to get Tdap, MMR, and Varicella, but I'm trying to confirm that so that we can get started on the series and maybe even complete them by the time he has to go to his medical interview. Any help would be appreciated! Your fiancees should have been given a copy of the sheet that lists their vaccinations after they had their medical...

Congrats to all those recently approved and traveling to the States! We hope to be not too far behind you all!!!

    -Jessica

I think if he doesn't know what vaccine he have taken already they will give him the standard required shots. The cost should be about 3000 baht for the shots and medical exams.

  10. Ooops, I'm a bonehead. The "new" packet-3 is the standard packet 3, there's a different link for the K Visa Packet 3 which is the same as what I had before. Sorry for the false alarm.

But I figure I will confirm with everyone here:

    1. K Visa's submit a I-134 still, correct?

    2. The Visa fee for K applicants is still only $131, correct?

Also, where on the Embassy is the text that says the Police Certificate should be provided free? I don't see any mention of cost. Also, I thought I had read somewhere my fiance needs to bring a certain size photo to the police office in Bangkok for the certificate. Is that correct? What is the size? I assume she just needs that, her id, and her house registration?

I gave a notarized I-134 with a letter from my employer and copy of my passport to my girl,

She went to the post office and paid $131 for the visa.

For the Police record I think my girl paid 2000 baht, and just needs to bring a 2 visa or passport photo 2inch by 2inch size, original and copy of her passport,id card, household registration, name change certificate if any and divorce papers if any. You can see the Police Certificate instructions in the packet 3 website.

  11. Just got back from LAX..........Ou is now on American soil!!

POE was pretty easy, I told her when she got in line for Immigration, to tell one of the Immigration officials that she is here on a K-1 Visa. They pulled her from the line, asked a few questions and that was it. She said that she had her bags before anyone else on her flight had finished Immigartion. All in all, it took her 30+ minutes from disembarking the plane and getting through Immigration.

I'll do the Visa Interview and POE review in the next few days.

Congrats ting tong farang.. Thats great news..

My girl will go pick up her passport with the K1 visa today.

She booked her flight for June 14 to SFO, its the last hurdle for her and hope everything will go smooth at the POE.

I just cant wait for her to get here.

  12. Awesome!! Congrats!!

I just spoke with Ou and she is counting down the hours. She is going to go to a few markets today to get some stuff for me and then hit the rack early, she leaves for the airport 5 AM Wednesday, Thailand time!!

Finally........................this process will be 2 weeks short of a year when she gets here.

    thanks ting tong farang,

It will be exactly 1 year for me on June 7th, She got her ticket to SFO for June 14th. Still a little more waiting to go.

  13. My girl just got done with her interview.. she waited for a long time . the interview was 3 minutes.. and they told her to pick up her visa on the 5th.. they just asked her about how we met and how long we known each other and how often we communicated. its all over finally thank goodness..

  14. Question on the packet 3 (part 1). When sending it back did your fiance sign the english portion, thai portion or both? Did you mail back the entire checklist or just the page that requires the signature?

she just mailed back the check list signed with ds230 part 1 unsigned.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure I follow. She mailed in the whole checklist, or just the page you have to sign? Did she sign the English version, the Thai version, or both?

she signed the Thai one and sent the part that she signed only, that was the one she was more comfortable with. the embassy will accept either.

She is at the interview now.. I am waiting for her to call me with the results.
