  1. I just want to be prepared for any documentation I need to show I am legally able to marry a filipina in her own country. I have notarized copies of my divorce including the court docket. Of course I will have my passport, driver's licence and probably birth certificate.

In addition, what must I bring to file for the marriage licence in her town in the province?

If you are a US citizen want to marry here in the Philippines? first you go to the USEMbassy Manila have your documents ready like Divorce decree + Birth Cert+ passport & U can get ''Legal Capacity'' doc from there pay 30usd. Next step is to go the Municipality or City Hall where your Fiancee lived go to the Civil Dept. submit the Legal Capacity (have it photocopied for future use)+ you & your Fiancee BC + Divorce decree & get a Marriage License payment is less than 100 pesos, (don't talk to any fixer in applying for a Marriage License they will charge you big amount because you are a foreigner)you will be given 10 days to wait, while waiting you can arrange the wedding, also there is seminar for both of you to attend( Marriage Counseling), then after 10 days you can already claim the Marriage License & You can now Get married in the Church or in a Civil Ceremony. this is a step by step guide for you based on my experienced. Ok, Good Luck.

The marriage counseling is entertaining,,you get to listen to the speaker ( a nurse in our case), give all the pregnant couples a hard time because the counseling was mostly about family planning. I think there were around 25 couples at the counseling session we attended. My wife noticed some of the other foreign spouses paying a 'fee' to get a pass from attending.

  2. Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On January 12, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Good luck to all of you, I am going crazy! My fiance is not online, not answering her phone, I can't wait to share our happy news!

Congratulations!!! Best wishes on the rest of your journey.

  3. Hello, we received a text from delbros asking for confirmation of visa delivery for applicants ..... We texted back a confirmation. Please let us know what the next steps are,,how to pay for the delivery, etc.. Is there an acct number for delbros for delivery?

I dont und what payment you are talking about.Did she have her interview yet?i believed you pay the approved visa delivery after interview.

When my wife had her interview she was told to get a marriage index and bring it to the USEM and when she did she asked when she could pick up her visa as we thought it would be better than getting it delivered and the lady said they would notify her. My wife then got a text saying to deposit the money in Delbros account with the MNL2008XXXXXX number and they would deliver it within 3 days. She did the deposit and two days later she had the visa in hand. Hope this helps.

This sounds almost exactly what we are experiencing. My wife delivered the marriage index along with a annotated copy of the previous marriage on Jan. 8th and Grace/USEM told us our visa had been approved on the 12th. The delbros initial text was sent on the 16th. Later, after sending back a confirmation text and request for further instructions, delbros sent the info about the payment, etc.. Hopefully,,the visas for my wife and two step-children will arrive next week.

As a side note, I want to wait until the visas are delivered before purchasing airline tickets. Is this typical or have other VJers bought the tickets prior to actually having the visas 'in hand'? We've had delays at each step in this process, so I'm a little hesitant to purchase the tickets before we actually have the visas.

  4. Hello everyone.

I have our interview scheduled now and still have one of the three calls left on my PIN.

Is it OK for some one else to use that last call?

I have not found anything in my reading that it matters who used the calls...

Just trying to help a friend...

    GWN

Maybe you should hold onto it until after the interview and the visa has been shipped?

  5. Thanks to all and I hope all of you who are still waiting get your approvals soon.

It was such a relief to finally get out of the USCIS portion of the process, but hearing Grace say we're approved was infinitely better. After all the delays and waiting, I can still hardly believe it is really true.

This website with all the guides, example forms and most of all, its helpful and supportive members made this possible. To whoever started this website, you have my gratitude.

  6. We called for an interview about 2 weeks after USCIS sent out an email saying it had been sent to the NVC. We were told to call back in a couple weeks but called back the following week and was told that we were 'eligible for an interview'. If their workload is greater now, it may take longer but I'd keep checking back each week if I were you.

  7. In regards to the Boat sign in your hubby's face....Grace and I hired a driver and had him stop a couple times and ask their prices. Of ocurse, when they saw MY face, their prices wnet through the roof. We were told of this before leaving QC. They acutally chased down the car with lower prices when we said no. YEs, EXTREMELY persistent.

Sonya's Graden is very nice, but its away from the lake and Volcano. Next time we go I would want something with a view of both.

We enjoyed our stay there even though we experienced some of the same issues as Anna. It was cool there even in May so I'm sure December/January would be uncomfortable,,especially to use their unheated pool. Also, there were very few guests during our time there (we were there during midweek) so not a lot of noise and only one or two other families using the pool.

The hot water was definitely an issue even with so few guests there but it worked ok showering during non-peak times. I think we stayed near the same room as Anna because the laundry room was just down the hallway. We used the employee entrance sometimes and sort of ignored the sign for employees only. The door swipe card was always having to be re-programmed and I still wonder if the front desk clerk was just trying to give me a hard time (he didn't have the demeanor you'd expect in that position). I've seen ads for the Taal Vista Hotel,,has any VJers stayed there?,,maybe try that next time.

It isn't a 5 star or even 4 star hotel but for sure I've stayed in a lot worse places here in the states. It really didn't matter as long as I was with my wife and family.

  8. Hello. Not sure if this is the proper place to ask this question but I got married this year and want to claim my wife on my income taxes when I file early next year. What do I need to claim her as she is still in the Philippines and has never been to USA yet. It normally asks for social security number but of course she has none. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The following link has some good info on filing for a non-resident: http://www.aca.ch/brunaltx.htm . Good luck.

  9. Some details from my wife's interview are posted below. We didn't get the pink slips as hoped but after she turns in the docs they asked for, we're praying we'll get the visas soon afterwards.

December 22nd, 2008 interview at USEM:

After waiting queue coz the security outside the embassy inspecting the bags and asked to show him my ID,he told me to proceed to gate2 and waited for the applicant before us to get inspected. They have all of our things inspected; bags, folders etc. and each of us. No cell phones, no electronic device. Paulo brought his bakugan toys it has magnetic cards so the scanner kept beeping so were wondering if he brought his gameboy, but glad to find out it was just the bakugans. After passing through the security, we turned right to immigrant visa are, then went to ticket booth, the woman asked me the appt letter, ds 156&157 with pictures 1 copies each then asked us for more US passport pictures. She stapled the other copies.(2 total). We had to wait for my name to be called ,window 33 for fingerprinting .The children didn’t have to do the fingerprinting even though they were looking forward to it.

We waited again for our number /ticket to flash on board. We were called at window 23, a nice guy in his late 30's or early 40's, asked me questions name, petitioner's name, when did we meet, where and how long ago. He also asked about my annulled marriage, what I do, how I’ve raised my children before I met my husband. He asked for W-2, ISR (tax return transcripts) for 2005, 2006 and 2007. Even thought the 2007 was missing so he had to go through the papers, I had too, coz he couldn’t find it at first. Then at last he did, thank God. He took the children’s baptismal certificates, birth certificates, marriage cert, phone records,(that was the phone bills I handed to him not my husband's phone bills funny, he made a comment about digitel and telling me that he didn’t pay coz it's not a good service, I agreed that there were times I didn’t have phone working and internet.. then we laughed, when I was close to comfortable laughing, I said to myself ok enough...hahahah...he then took the remittances receipts, NBI & police clearance, annulment papers, and asked for pictures, but he changed his mind, then he said, I can show it to the CO later. And so the prescreening was done, I thanked him and then we sat back down again in the blue chairs. When it was lunch break, the 'usherette' or female guide asked everyone to take a break, as the windows were closed too. We got back at 1 PM the numbers were flashing again by 1:10 PM. We were waiting as patiently as possible as some were called a little after 2 PM to window 27. We were asked to sit n the chairs outside the room of windows 27 & 28...One of the applicants was already outside the room waiting for her turn. She said I would be at window 27 and just wait for the male applicant to walk out of the room and then I can go in...I was nervous and so was my son, Paulo. That was funny, but amazed that how important it is to him that we passed. A little later the applicant in line at window 28, said that the female applicant who had been crying came out of the CO’s room, window27, the one I was to enter so that really scared me.

We proceeded into the CO’s room after the male applicant who preceded us finished his interview. The pretty CO ( she's Princess Diana look-a-like) Hello and Good afternoon Maam,, She greeted back with a smile too.The kids sat already but I didn’t until she said I can take a seat. then I said thank you. First she asked to raise our right hand and sworn that we will tell the truth,

And so the interview went.: asked the petitioner's name, my name, who was with me, ( my kids) Are there any children, How old my husband is, birthday, when did we meet and where, when did we get married, for how long, when did he come here, and how long did he stay. Has he visited me after we got married? Was he married before me? She reacted in doubts when I told her, my husband visited only once, and I told her why. And then asked why never got married and he's 49 already.

Looked on my papers each time and wrote something. Then asked me that the cert of no marriage has the weird bar code, (coz it has expired) Then why the photocopy only of my annulled Marriage cert with annotation that its null and void etc. I told her the DFA took it when I applied for passports using my husband’s name. Then she said, I should give them the same copy. I was wrong to say but. I was thinking I wouldn’t get any of the same copy since I asked for another and I got the certification from NSO that the marriage with my ex husband has no record (only to realized I put the July month instead of June). There was no record of our current marriage because I mistakenly submitted the wrong month to the NSO when getting the CENMAR.

The CO asked me if I have relatives in the US and I told her that I had two sisters and gave her the states where they lived. CO asked me what they do; told her I have a sister who is a nurse, and another one who was married to an American but were divorced last October. She asked why and told her because he didn’t treat them as he did before; she looked down on our papers again and asked am I going to visit them, (sisters) told her maybe meet them at my POE. She followed up with question, where will be your POE?; I told her LAX or Detroit. Asked again where my sisters live and where I will stay and live and then I answered , one of my sister lives in AZ and the other one in KY, but I will stay in ....FL, and she said who lives in FL? I said my husband. Oh...I thought you'll live in AZ..The CO though she's nice is tricky with questions..

She wasn't satisfied so she looks at my kids and asked my daughter, how does she feel moving to America and living there etc. I had to translate it to my daughter coz she didn’t hear it and was nervous, when unexpectedly asked : My daughter answered with a smile that she was excited, and I think that made CO looked ok.

Then she said, (I forget what exactly what she said) so that’s it, just give what we asked you to, and we can.......the visas... So I said thank you Maam and Merry Christmas, she said the same..

We went out and took the seats at the releasing area window 37..The releasing officer gave me back the remittances, pictures, and my phone bills, then the 2white slips and blue letter. He told me that it’s ok to bring the requirements without the kids.

did you get your visas already?

No, the Phil gov't offices are closed until December 5th. My wife will pickup the docs that week and drop those at the embassy. Then we wait,,,,

  11. Hello, I've attached the MNL-IV-22 (white slip) along with the blue and form letter my wife, amorsiempre, received after the interview (principal applicant name has been removed).

We're hoping that after she submits the additional documents, they will approve the visas. It is a little hard to read the comments from the CO, but it looks like they want the marriage index (CENMAR, thanks to VJs who explained this), marriage contract and valid passports. I'm not sure why they returned the passports after the interview and now are requesting those again.

Please let us know if we are right about what is being requested by the embassy and the timeframe we should expect if they are satisfied with the additional documents.

  12. We received two white and one blue slip after the interview yesterday. They asked to bring a more current CENMAR and a copy of the previous marriage certificate with annotation. When my wife looked at the previous marriage certificate, she realized she had used July instead of the correct month of June for all our previous submittals (I-130 and I-129f, etc.). Is there a process for correcting this type of error and what are the possible results?

  13. This is nonsense as it was, and still is, the Democrats that promote low income home ownership and resisted regulation of both Fannie and Freddie by this administration...

Yes, the President championed home ownership for all, but for all that could responsibly afford it and qualify for it.

It was the Democrats that made the market a free for all by threatening Banks with retaliation if they excluded minorities and low income folks....

Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer, and Charlie Rangel, all of which except Schumer are under some sort of investigation for ethics violations, Dodd for taking a sweet deal from Country Wide, are the principals in this debacle......

Bush tried to reign in Fannie and Freddie and if successful all wouldn't have fallen apart. The Dems resisted.

Alas, a member who doesn't have blinders on and actually knows the facts. Until a majority of voters become well-informed, we'll continue to have the same problems.

  14. Hello All,

My wife has an 10 AM appt at the embassy this morning (Phil time). Since it is a mid-morning appt, would it be better to show up around 8 or 9 so she and the children don't have to sit for so long? It's been such a long wait,,I really hope and pray we don't have anymore delays.

  15. well, passed the sputum tests and now have to wait for the culture results. anybody on the same boat?

My wife underwent the "sputum test" and just found out a little over a week ago that everything was fine (negative test?). It was tough to hear we had to wait an additonal two months after the initial medical but since we've waited now for almost 1 year and 7 months we're used to delays and disappointments. I've heard most of the sputum tests turn out negative and have only seen one or two post here where the applicant had to undergo the treatment (6 months). Best wishes on your wait and result. On the positive side, it gives you an additional 8 weeks to get all your paperwork ready for the interview.

  16. Hi everybody, i live here in miami florida, and my fiancee is from cebu philippines, she is 2 months pregnant, and i need to send her money. can anyone tell me what is the best way to send money to the philippines? i would like to do it online if possible.

If you are going to be sending it on a regular basis and you can plan 4 or 5 days ahead check out PNB's Remit on Line. Once you get signed up its only $10.00 and they will deliver it to her house, something I found very convenient when my wife was preggy. They also have much higher exchange rate than wectern union xoom ect..

I agree with the PNB remit,,it offers much better exchange rates and lower fees. If there is a PNB branch in your fiancee's area, you can setup an ATM account so she can withdraw whatever she needs and doesn't carry a lot of cash. The website is http://www.pnbrci.com.

For fast delivery, WU works well and they have reduced fees; maybe from competition from remithome and xoom?

Best wishes for your little one and hope the visa process goes smoothly and hopefully less than 7 months.

  17. Greetings!

Seeking your assistance again fellow VJers.

I was wondering if you know any taxi cab or private car service that can be booked for December 18 and how much would that cost. My fiance will be coming over on the said date and from the air port, he'll drop his things off at my place then we will proceed to US Embassy to get his certificate. After which, we will go to city hall to apply for the license and then go back to my place to get his things and then proceed to the hotel.

Thank you in advance and God bless!

    -Anna

We've used Safari rental cars/vans. Always were on time and furnish drivers too. I think they have offices in Makati and Sta Rosa.

  18. My husband just arrived today in Jacksonville after 41 days of vacation here and to our surprised he found out our approval notice letter for both petitions in their mailbox.

We are so very happy finally after almost a year of waiting...

May God help VSC to continue approve others who had been waiting long months like us :)

Congratulations!! You are finished with the hardest part of this process. Best wishes on the rest of your journey.

  19. Now, I moved out and shacked up with my coworker, it was an office an affair. :bonk: Can we live together if I am not formally divorced yet? How will that affect my GC and ability to remove conditions from residency? Is Adultery cause for being deported?

My husband is not aware of the fact i have been with my co worker for over a year. He travels to Iraq often for DOS. But what happens now? Can he remove the support from my application? He has filed for seperation and I signed. :crying:

Lesson learned, dont leave half naked pics of boyfriend and yourself on your family computer. Same goes for intimate emails and naughty text messages. God I hate online access to the phone bills. He figured it out all the way from IRaq by looking at his phone bill.

What can he do to my immigration status at this point? Please help? Yikes? Should I try returning to my husband? Its an uncontested divorce, so it should be finalized soon. But again, what happens to my status? :help:

Think your post is bogus. Nobody could be as low and stupid. If you were truthful, be thankful that you don't face a public execution as you would in some middle eastern countries.
