Many people don't receive them because they don't have interest earning savings accounts, do contracted work, or earn money from dividends. So many people don't receive 1099's.
Can I ask something? Do your parents support you? And if so, are you the only dependent on their income? This comes to mind, because if you are being supported by your parents and they also sponsor your husband, they would need to qualify for 4 people (you, your husband, Mom, Dad) in household at 125% on poverty guidelines.
What does not showing check stubs and employment letter do? Makes you look lazy and a mooch on your parents. Showing no income demonstrates that you are completely dependent parents for every dime and nickel. Not a good sign to the NVC when they want to be assured that your husband won't become a charge of the state.
It's much better to show that at least you are making efforts to earn some money. You can type a letter to the NVC stating..."I make X amount a year because I am currently a full time student (or give some other reason)" and attach it to your I-864.

questions about I-184
I have 3 questions.....anybody who knows would you plz clarify it for me
)
1) I'm the petitoner but my earnings can not meet the requirements to bring my husband here, so I'm using my parent's income and they qualify for it. Since i'm not using my income do I need or is it required to get a letter of employment and pay stubs cuz in the checklist it says submit this information if you believe any of these items will help you qualify, and I work only 1 day a week so it would look bad, so i'm confused... do I need to show them the letter of employment or my parent's income, w-2 and whatever is ok?
2) Another questions about I-184, when it asks about the beneficiary's Alien # which he doesn't have and other areas where there is nothing to answer do you leave it blank, put N/A or which one is the accepted answer to put?
3) And the ther question is about 1099, it says submit 1099, we never had this form before, what is it about, where should we find it, or if we dont sent it is it ok?
Yes, your parents can be a joint sponsor.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY...REREAD THEM and REREAD THEM AGAIN.
Documents needed for Affidavit of Support (you and your parents)
* IRS transcript for 2006 - OR - photocopy of 1040 (with supporting documents such as w-2 and 1099's). FYI- 1099 is another tax document similiar to W-2 which shows money earned for contracted work, money earned from interest earning bank accounts, money earned from dividends.
* Copy of bank statements
* Copy of IRA accounts (if any)
* Deeds of Title showing ownership of property (if any owned)
* Any other paperwork showing you have financial assets
* 6 months of pay stubs - or - Letter from employer stating the terms of your employment, i.e., full time, part time, permanent, date of hire, gross annual salary.
PLEASE NOTE ----- YOU STILL NEED TO FILE AN AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT SINCE YOU ARE THE PRIMARY PETITIONER (for your husband's application). EVEN IF YOU DO NOT MAKE ENOUGH MONEY.
Look closely at the questions on the form...Sometimes you will see an "if any" next to question. If there is no answer to the question, write NONE.

Weren't you reading the instructions AT ALL??!!!
My advice is that if you made mistakes on the first forms and did not follow the directions, is GET AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER!!!!!!

2-what is the document which i have to fill out while in the air (th stewardeses give cards to fill) and what kind of information should i memorize to fill in the blanks , is there a sample i can see in this website
3- what are the steps after arriving at the airport
4-what are the options to go to Brooklyn ( Bus, Train, Taxi ) and what about the prices
5- important question : the issued visa which i have on my passport is CR1 category and i have been married just for a year and 2 months till now , the question is what kind of green card they will give me, if they won't give me a green card before the second anniversary ,am i authorized to work and what kind of documents should i carry while in the street ,if they will give me a green card is it right that they will send it via mail to the address of my sponsor which is in DS-230 form, or i can change the destination because my sponsor resides in chicago and im planning to reside in Newyork, Brooklyn

9- after how many months/ years i can travel outside the usa and go back normally and thru what kind of legal documents i can travel
lot of questions i hope if i have answers
and i would appreciate any assistance from you guys
thanks alot and good luck for all
-Rami
Dear Rami,
First of all, your spouse should be the one to help you with these sorts of qustions. Afterall, your spouse is currently living in USA and knows the process just like us.
2) The stewardess will give you a form to fill out on the plane. You do not need to MEMORIZE the answers to the questions. It's a fairly simple boarding card that wants information about you (can get from your passport), your flight and if you carry fruits, vegatables, meets or exotic, endangered animal products.
3) Get off the plane and follow other passengers to customs and immigration.
4) Can't help you with Brooklyn prices...Maybe, hopefully, your spouse will pick you up from the airport and you won't need to concern yourself with this.
5)
A. You will get a two year immigrant visa if you are married less than two years. File a AOS when the two years is up.
B. Your spouse should have requested on the DS-230 form a social security number be issued to you 6 weeks after you enter the US.
C. Get a local drivers license or state id from the US state you will be living in. That's what you walk the streets with. Not your passport.
6) Once you get a social security card, then you get a job. Don't worry about where to send your tax money. Your boss will take out money from your paycheck to give to the IRS before you ever get your hands on it!!!

I wanted to post this because I often see many people who get confused by the DS 3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) and the DS-230 (Part I).
These are documents that must be signed by applicant/beneficiary/immigrant. Not by the petitioner/spouse who is doing the sponsoring.
First, the DS-3032 is for the applicant/beneficiary/immigrant to sign. Their signature AUTHORIZES the NVC to send the documents to you if they ELECT YOU AS AGENT.
Secondly, don't be confused and think that since you have been selected as an AGENT to receive mail from the NVC, that you can then start signing DS-230 on behalf of your overseas spouse. The DS-230 wants biographic information on the applicant, so they must sign the forms. Your signature would be null and void because you are attesting that information given for other person's is accurate. Basically, your signature is hearsay.
REMEMBER
Sign documents that pertain to YOU and YOUR INFORMATION
A signature is an AFFIRMATION - TESTEMENT that a document is correct.
Signing a document in someone else's name is forgery.
-
Your beneficiary needs to be the one that signs:
G325A for him
DS-3032 - He must sign to elect you as Agent to receive his mail
DS-230 (part 1) He must sign, not you. Part II of this form is for the immigrant to sign at the time of interview.
Those are the forms REQUIRING HIS SIGNATURE.
REMEMBER, a signature is an affirmation information is accurate. You cannot sign someone elses legal documents can you? Can somebody sign your tax forms or job applications? Do you see what I am getting at?
-
I made an attachment for my fiance's g-325a employment record and i am wondering if he is required to sign it...the form is in america with me, and he is not...i have the actual form (g-325a) signed, do i need to have him sign the attachment as well?
thanks
HE needs to sign. Legally, he can only sign.
However, your spouse can download the form at an internet cafe, print it out, sign it and send it to you.

Are you the petitioner? Did you have your spouse elect you as AGENT to receive the documents from the NVC? Or was the DS-230 mailed to immigrant applicant?
The DS-230 (Part I and Part II) is for the immigrant/beneficiary/applicant to fill out. The petitioner (spouse in the USA) CANNOT SIGN.

Question 10 on I-134 asks if the sponser has ever petitioned for a visa on behalf of an immigrant before.
Now, I have obviously petitioned for my fiancee. And the example shown on VJ's example form seems to indicate that you SHOULD include your current petition in that list.
But, it just seems a bit odd to me so I was hoping to get some clarification from you guys.
On the I-134 I give to my fiancee for her interview at the embassy, should I list the petition which started the current visa process we are currently in the middle of? Or does the question simply refer solely to previous petitions?
Currently, my answer on I-134 reads "My Fiancee's Name(Current Petition)" Is this a poor answer?
Thanks in advance!
Have you ever sponsored another person to come to the US? If no, then the answer should be no on the question.

I am sorry for you troubles.
Abdou is probably suffering from culture shock and the added burden of not feeling welcomed by your family. Which makes it understandable that he is easily inclined to return to Morroco.
HOWEVER, if he really loves you, then the idea of you going to Morocco to be with him would not be opposed by him.
What if you have Abdou sign a pre-nup agreement stating that any inheritances or funds from your family are not to be considered part of the communal property in marriage. Your wealth from family finances are yours exclusively.
Would that make your family feel more assured?

I just came accross a story about Phillpinos being kidnapped and sent to Iraq to help build the US Embassey there. They all thought they were going to United Arab Emirates when they boarded the plane and were basically held prisoners.

i have a friend (USC) married to an egyptian. he recieved an RFE asking him for a certain form. his wife is taking care of that form and will send it to the embasssy from America to the US embassy in Cairo.
the question is... would it make a difference if she sends the paper instead of him?? it doesnt need his signature on it or anything...
The only thing that matters is that the document requested is forwarded to the DEPARTMENT THAT WANTS IT. That means if the NVC here in the USA requested the document, it should be sent to the NVC. If the EMBASSY asked for it, then send it to the EMBASSY.
The most important thing is to follow instructions where the document is to be mailed to. Not who sends it.

You'd never believe what happened today.
I called the embassy to find out whether they had gotten my response to packet 3. Well, the lady on the phone told me that I needed to include the DS230 part 1 which was part of the package. I told her that I had not lived outside of St. Lucia for a period of more than six months. She insisted that the 6 month issue pertains to police records from other countries and not to the DS230.
The instructions from packet 3 states verbatim:
If you have resided in some other country for 6 months or more since your 16th birthday, fill out and sign the enclosed Form DS-230. RETURN THIS FORM TO THIS OFFICE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. THEN PROCEED TO COLLECT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS.
Something must be seriously wrong somewhere!!!
When in doubt do what they tell you to do, even if it is an extra step.
From what I understand....Everyone has to fill out a DS-230 (Parts I and II). It's a main form used in all immigrant processing.

I just faxed my senator and then I called and asked for a confirmation that they received my fax. The woman told me to hold on but put me on voicemail so I left my name and number and requested that they call to confirm receipt.
No phonecall so far.....
What normally happens after you send them the request?
Can't you print up a fax transmission slip on your own fax machine? Usually those have the date, time, fax number and pages sent with a confirmation the fax was received on their end. I do this whenever a business disputes they received a fax from me. I show them the faxcimile confirmation page.
Yes but I don't know how. I work in a HUGE office so that machine is constantly chugging along. I will try to figure it out tonight.
I guess you have print out a transmission report and visually search the page for the specific transmission. I work as an administrative assistant and so I probably know more about this.

Our case was completed September 24t,2007.
According to NVC plans, the interview date should have been set by now for the month of November.
I have called more than few times, but mostly I get "wait until we are done".
Anyone else with the same problem?
I am in the same boat! Case approved October 11th and told to wait 8 weeks for further notice.
Gosh, I am so impatient it's not good.

I'm not posting this to be insensitive. I feel badly for anyone who loses a love they thought would last forever, ESPECIALLY after all most of us go thru to be together. Yet, there has been a spade of breakups recently and I'm hoping we can turn a negative into a positve and use the experiences of those among us who are now wiser to avoid some possible pitfalls AND to reexamine red flags not seen by rose colored glasses.
Any thoughts?
I feel sorry for those on this MENA forum that are going through break ups or difficult times.
It has made me reflect and look deeply at my marriage and my husbands character. Even though I am sure of our relationship, I have a strong streak of self preservation and can look "coldly" at the facts sometimes. Luckily, my husband has demonstrated over and over that his commitment is to me no matter where I live in this world (we met when I was living in India and wasn't planning on returning to USA).

I'm not sure about the DS-230? Because I know DS-230 are for those on CR-1 or IR-1 visa applicants? And DS-156 and DS-157 are for the K-visas? (Or maybe I'm mistaken?) Also, If you also have other forms of communications like e-mals, letters/cards that you can include as proof of relationship.
DS-156 and DS-157 are required for some countries in addition to the DS-230 form. Extra security.

My k-1 visa final interview was suspended due to the fact that my I-394 affidavid was not notarized and didnt include
2006 tax returns.
I dont have to appear at the embassy again, only courier in my passport and forms.
Does this mean there'll be no problems after that if forms are acceptable?
It sounds like the flub on having proper documents is the only mistake that needs correcting. If they requested forms and passport, it sounds like you are basically ok once you correct the paperwork error.
-
Anyone who go to their interview with incomplete requirements? or papers from fiance arrived after your interview?what are the consequences and things that will possibly happen if I go to interview with lack of requirements?but I can show it to them as soon as I have it.
My husband hasn't had his interview yet. However, this process has taken 10 months to get to the interview stage. I think 10 months waiting is enough time for me to compile all the proper paperwork.
How long have you been waiting for your interview?
As for missing documents...Most paperwork you should have already submitted earlier. Such as your Affidavit of Support and the DS-230 and supporting documents. You should have made copies of all these papers as you went along, so that you could have a back up set when the interview comes up.
If you can show some confirmation a document is being sent and is just delayed, then present it to the Consular Officer. Better to show you are making efforts to meet their request for documents.

Ive read so many on visa journey about applicants telling of successful visas with only 1 or 2 questions at final interview.
I was at the London US Embassy today and was asked at least over 40 questions.
"Do u kno ur fiancees mother?"
"Does she go to church?"
"Whats her job?" WHAT?
WOW!This was for a k-1 visa,,,,wer'e not married yet?i did know the answer BTW...
What about the the Thailand/Vietnam online brides that have only met like twice????????
Is this K-1 visa applications set up for online brides?
Im British, have a good job and just wants to marry my American fiancee which also has a good job
A big laughing joke it is
IM Pi**ed.Ridicilous.....
And my visa was suspended because my affidavit had'nt been notorized........
She does'nt have to support me,,,,,I am a proffesional IT computer technician
My husband is an Iranian chemical engineer and I am an American admin assistant. It really doesn't matter to the US government what the hell you do, the responsibility to assure the US government you do not become of charge of the state FALLS ON THE PETITIONER. In your case, your fiancee.
As for not having your affidavit notarized....Long before I found this board, I had to read and reread at time the instructions given to me by the USCIS. Long and complicated for sure, but not total rocket science and not impossible.
Just try to get the affidavit corrected and resubmitted.

Does it make a difference if I am protestant and my american fiancee is catholic for our K-1 visa?
Religion never comes up as a question on any form.
