  1. The cousin is 17 years old and Seattle2Cebu is 50. He is currently residing in Cebu and has plans to marry her when she turns 18 in October. He didn't bring enough money with him to Cebu and has been posting requests for help on another site.

  2. I am with TallCoolOne on this one. Kirk Cameron had his mancard yanked long ago. I won't be watching any of his movies nor will I buy any Richard Simmons "dancing to the oldies" dvd.

  3. I bought a magic jack last month with their 30 day free trial. I returned it because the call quality and reliability were no good. It would occasionally work well but very unreliable. Alot of times the party on the other end could not here me. Google Magic Jack and you will see the problems others have had with this product. Customer service is non existent.

  4. I paid $750 to a lawyer for my K1. Although he processed the paperwork he hid behind a voice mail and email wall never responding to any voicemails or emails. Dont waste your money. The guides on VJ are very good and you can do it yourself. I filed for the Adjustment of Status of my own and had no problems. The attorney was in California, it may be the same one you are interested in.

  5. My recommendation would be to forget the tourist visa. Filipinos have a difficult time getting tourist visas to the US because so many of them in the past came on a tourist visit and never went home. It's not a racial issue as some are trying to make it here, it's more of a first world/third world issue. It's easy for a US citizen to travel to Nigeria since very few would want to stay there.

  6. A child support case may take months to work it's way through the courts and then when a court issues an order for child support it is often retroactive to the date that the petition for child support was filed with the court. The net result is that your boyfriend could owe several months worth of child support all at once putting him over the $2,500 threshold for getting a passport. So he may not be a deadbeat Dad. I would ask to see the court papers and he will provide them to you if he is being honest about his situation. Child support payments are often excessive in this country and the court system is commonly used by bitter ex spouses to extract revenge on their ex. I have to pay my ex child support even though we have joint custody and equal time with the kids. I am the higher wage earner and she chooses to be under-employed. She lives in a new townhouse and I in a rented apartment. She eats out regularly, wont buy the kids necessities, refuses to pay her share of kids medical bills, the list goes on and on. If he has a bad relationship with his ex it will directly impact your life for years to come. You may want to reconsider whether this is the life you want for yourself.

  7. I put realtors in the same category as lawyers. Of course there are exceptions but in my experience they are out to serve themselves. They won't point out disadvantages to any property and try to get the max selling price whether they are listing or buyers agents to increase their commission. I sold my last house in August 2007. They were first time homebuyers and it was obvious their agent was leading them around by the nose. They overpaid and the Realtor got her 3% commission. Of course they helped create the current financial crisis by encouraging people to accept "creative financing" etc. I wont buy another house and will rent until such time as I can retire overseas. I get satisfaction that alot of real estate people have had to find another line of work. What goes around comes around.

  8. Has your husband considered joining the US Military? He can as a green card holder and it expedites his citizenship as well. I wouldn't recommend the Army due never-ending long deployments but the Navy and Air Force would be good options.

  9. Let's reward all the irresponsible people who financed homes they couldn't afford with adjustable rate mortages. The Democrats always want to have the responsible subsidize the irresponsible. Let the market take care of home prices. The value of homes is very inflated and needs to come down. I sold my house before the market crashed and am happily renting.

  10. If you move to the Philippines and eventually decide to return to the US with your wife how will you meet the minimum income requirement (125% of poverty level) for a visa. Your plan assumes you will be able to find a job once settled in the Philippines. Wages are very low and jobs are hard to obtain for a foreigner. THe majority of expats residing in the Philippines have an income source (pension, social security) etc.

  11. If you receive benefits as a dependent or survivor of the worker, special requirements may affect your right to receive Social Security payments while you are outside the U.S. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must have lived in the U.S. for at least five years. During that five years, the family relationship on which benefits are based must have existed.

Children may meet this residency requirement on their own or may be considered to meet the residency requirement if it is met by the worker and other parent (if any). However, children adopted outside the U.S. will not be paid outside the U.S., even if the residency requirement is met.

  12. My stepson was included on our K1 petition and went to the medical and interview with my then fiance. He was given a K2 visa which expired in 4 months. She left him in the Philippines with family and returned for him prior to the expiration of the visa. I dont know what is required to get an extension up to a year.
