  1. I am currently living in Okinawa and work as a DOD civilian. Your only option in my view is to apply for expedited citizenship after you have 6 months residency in Japan. Even if you were to receive the 10 year green card a green card holder can not reside outside the US for greater than one year without invalidating their residency status. It sounds like you want it both ways, not that I fault you for that.

  2. How is the I-864 processing fee paid?

The NVC processes immigrant visa petitions after the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Department of Homeland Security (USCIS) approves them. When the immigrant visa case is current or about to become current, the NVC will send a bill to the petitioner asking him/her to pay an Affidavit of Support processing fee. The NVC will send the bill along with instructions on where and how to pay the bill.

Is there a fee I will need to pay for the Affidavit of Support forms?

Yes, there is a $70 fee for reviewing each of the Affidavit of Support (AOS) forms I-864, I-864A, I-864W and I-864EZ when the AOS form(s) is filed domestically in the U.S

  3. I obtained my marriage license at the Colorado Springs courthouse and then had my ceremony in Denver. The minister filled out the bottom portion of the marriage license and then I went to the courthouse the next day. I presented the marriage license/marriage certificate and left 10 minutes later with the original with official seal and numerous certified copies. The copies were a small charge, cant remember how much. The process is simple. Best wishes to you.

  4. I have banked with USAA since 1999 and have always been satisfied. They recently opened up their membership to all veterans. If anyone reading this is a veteran it's worthwhile to check them out. I am in Japan and do all my banking online. Having a local bank is a thing of the past and not necessary.

  5. We filed for expedited naturalization (319b) before departing for Japan. We did the biometrics in the US before departing the US and are awaiting the interview letter. Are we required to have a police clearance from Japan for the interview. We will only have lived here 2 to 3 months at time of interview. Thanks in advance for assistance.

Police clearance wasnt necessary because you have to be a resident for 6 months in foreign country.

  6. I don't see the age gap as so much a problem but her being so young as potentially problematic. I suggest you carefully read the Affidavit of Support you will have to submit to USCIS after you get married in order to adjust her status. This applies to everyone sponsoring a fiance or spouse. Is she mature enough to move to a different country and endure the separation from her family and friends, culture shock, arduous immigration process, bad economy and different weather. When she gets to the states and sees all her other options will she remain with you? Too many have married during the infatuation stage only to learn later when the relationship ends that a divorce doesn't end the financial responsibilities to the immigrant. Carefully consider the potential pitfalls before you leap with both feet.

  7. My wife got her Naturalization Certificate the other day and when she went to the Post Office for the Passport processing she was told that there was no date on her certificate. So now she has to make an infopass and go back to USCIS for them to correct. We were suppose to have her interview in Fairfax, VA but they scheduled it for Denver. As you all probably know you cant penetrate the wall at the USCIS Customer Service number and get anyone on the phone who wont read you a script of the information you already have. Rather than risk sending the interview letter back with a request for change of venue and date she opted to fly to Denver from overseas anyway for the interview. A comedy of errors and now the Government wants to control our health care.

  8. Read the attached memo concerning expedited naturalization of spouse of US Military assigned overseas.

    http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Laws%20and%20Re...m_resident_.pdf

I am a US government employee who resides in Japan. My spouse is a Filipina who received her conditional green card in March 2008. We filed for expedited naturalization and she has her interview on November 2nd. The only downside is you have to attend your interview on US territory and Guam qualifies.

  9. I am residing overseas and have the option of selecting my interview location so I chose Fairfax, VA. When I received my interview letter it says my interview is in Denver, CO. At the bottom of the interview letter it gives the USCIS Office address as Fairfax, VA.

I need someone to tell me if the USCIS address at the bottom of the letter is always Fairfax, VA or should it be the same as the location of the interview. I am trying to determine where my file is located and the service center wont give me any information other than reading me scripts from the website.

    Thanks in advance
