N-400 December 2024 Filers

Contracts! when did you apply originally? -
Question, Is it recommended to submit unscoloscited evidence at n400 interview ? About 30 pictures. If so, how does that work? I’ve heard people saying that they usually come to you before interview and ask if you have extra evidence. If so, could it delay the case to submit extra photos? Thanks

my wife’s on the same boat, and yeah the wait is long. We are still thinking of what is the best way to do it, but it seems like doing it after it faster but more costly. That’s where we’re headed -
Advice please!

It’s not guaranteed but it is very common in our field office. Some office simply don’t do it, ours do it pretty frequently. -

I need your advice on my wife's upcoming citizenship interview. She'd like to change her name, but we're trying to decide when to do it. The interview location offers same-day oath ceremonies, so here are her options: 1. Change her name during the interview, but this means she won't qualify for the same-day oath. She'll likely need to wait a couple of weeks for a judge to approve the name change before returning for her oath ceremony. 2. Complete the interview and oath ceremony with her current name, becoming a citizen the same day. She can even apply for her passport immediately. She would change her name afterward through a separate process. Which option do you think is better? The additional cost for changing her name later isn't her main concern. Also, if she changes her name after becoming a citizen, her naturalization certificate will show her former name. Will this cause complications when she needs to present her naturalization documents in the future? Thank you! -
Hi, Quick question, my wife is having her combo interview soon. She will not have a same day oath and she will be traveling abroad right after her interview. Let’s assure everything goes well, will she be able to travel the day after the interview and get back in? (she has the 48 months extension) We were wondering if the conditional green card was ever taken away during the interview process? Thanks

Hey hey!! Interview is scheduled!! We filed in 12/10/24. However the letter doesn’t appear on our account. I know we will receive a letter, but how can some have access to it on the “document” section? It doesn’t show on ours. Thanks! -

As it has been said in this forum probably a thousand times: the “my progress” tap is completely unreliable. It can go from 2 months to 7… back to 3 and then all the way up to 40… and still none of it is accurate or based on anything tangible. That being said, trying to read something out of a feature that is not based on reality is a great way to waste time and get all worked up. -

lol, your interview was NOT schedule. It is very clean that the “interview scheduled” is greyed out. I have the exact same on mine and my case is still pending. I think the layout is a bit confused so i can understand why you thought that, but yeah your interview is not scheduled yet but they’re telling you that’s what’s coming next. Once you see a checkmark instead of the (3) that’s when you’ll know your interview is scheduled. -

NEWARK n400 HELP?
MichaelJuan.198 replied to MichaelJuan.198's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
I’ve said in the initial message that she isn’t sure about the name to take yet, so she would have to hurry otherwise we can’t send packet. Also, I know that name change causes delays but I was asking about while filing VS at interview. Is there a difference between changing name on form VS changing name during interview? Does it mean no same day other either way? -
Hi, My wife and I are applying for the N-400, and she is unsure about whether or not to request a name change. I have a specific question: If she requests a name change on the form itself versus requesting it during the interview, does it make a difference in terms of scheduling the same-day oath ceremony or causing any delays? She applied in a field office (newark) where they conduct the oath ceremony the same day, so I’d like to know if requesting a name change at the interview would affect this process. Specifically, do they typically process name changes before the interview, or is it handled only during the interview? Any clarity on this would be very helpful.

Hi there, I have a few questions about N400 application: 1) In the section when they ask to update SSA for us, should we say yes? I’ve read somewhere that it could cause delays! 2) We’d like to update name (first name) but ideally would like to wait till the interview to do so. BUT, local field office does Oath and passport application the same day so, would it cause delays if we ask for name change the same day? Is it best to do during online application instead? 3) Regarding these evidence: “Documents referring to you and your spouse: a. Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children; or b. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past 3 years; or c. An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years.” What do you typically recommend to include. It says “or” do not sure if more is better. Also, we have submitted bank statements etc for removal of conditions, should we resubmit things we have already submitted? Thanks
